Re: Charging a123?

I think we are trying to say that Cellmans bms doesn't suck, and just using that should be a good way to go. One thing you may be overlooking a bit, is that if you practice a moderate dod, such as 80%, then you won't have too much balancing to be done unless a cell has a defect. So mostly you just ...

Charging a123?

Hey guys! I am working on converting my recumbent vision bicycle into an ebike. I am really excited about this project. I plan to purchase a123 from cell_man at em3ev.com. I am sort of in the middle of deciding the best way to go about charging or maintaining these batteries. I am sure it would be e...

Re: A123 AMP20M1HD-A Battery pack kit

I imagine there is a reason why you don't make 8s kits, I have no idea what it is. I tried searching for 8s, but it said the term was too common. Apologies if this question has been asked several times. Would 12s be an option instead of 8s? I am interested in making 8s packs in order to make two 8s ...

Maybe request a sample or two? Perhaps you could also inform them about how you feel about a lack of any kind of escrow.

According to this, http://whois.domaintools.com/gebattery.com.cn their domain was registered 2005-01-18. So they didn't just appear yesterday.

Re: 36v 30ah vs 48v 20ah for range

I have never ridden a recumbent tricycle, but unless it has full independent suspension on all three wheels, I doubt it can approach the stability of a regular bicycle at speed above 20mph while cornering. If it does have full suspension but no anti-sway bar, it will roll to the outside in a hard c...

Re: Looking for the best battery for my ebike.

There are some more details that may interest you. Most translate how far you go to how many WH you consume per km/mile. However, what a WH really is might be unclear. Take voltage and multiply it by amps. v x a = w To illustrate. 48v15a has 720wh 48v20a has 960wh To put it simply, 48v15a might last...

Re: Diy Battery Upgrade to my DS 2011 to add 100km range !!

Where did you buy your A123 pouches from? Have you ever considered making 8s (then wiring two in series to make 16s) packs and using an RC style balance charger such as the powerlab 8 for charging? This is instead of your bulk chargers. That is a lot of variance in AH, wouldn't that be an issue? How...

Re: 36v 30ah vs 48v 20ah for range

72v would be way way too fast for me. I am a little uncomfortable with the thought of approaching 30mph without 3 wheels. You haven't ridden a trike, have you? Trikes are way scarier and more hazardous at speed than bikes. Only briefly. Perhaps we are thinking of different trikes. There are several...

About "Galvanic Corrosion". As a lineman for a New Jersey Power Co. in the 60's, we had a small rubber "pot" that we kept full of No-OX-ID grease, that was smooshed onto the copper and aluminum (NEW PRODUCT) back then, to help with the corrosion. We also had "Burndy Bugs" that were a 3 part clamp, ...

Re: 36v 30ah vs 48v 20ah for range

Get the 36V. It will give you a lot more range from both more energy inside and because you will ride slower. Then later you can get another 36V battery to put in series and go straight to 72V with a new controller and open up a whole new world of fun transport where you don't ride around at WOT al...

This isn't a matter of my trust, this is a matter of rog130's purchase. He has already handed you his trust, somehow, it was broken. You can't do business if you break customers trust. Re: Geared vs direct drive effeciency

Geared are more efficient during acceleration, and DD are more efficient at cruise. With your plan being to help with pedal assist on every start, then the overall efficiency edge may go to the DD, and that's even more likely if you use a smaller wheel. That's because it helps a DD more easily get ...

Re: Best BMS or a list of best BMS?

So far, my conclusion is some sort of redundancy setup for a BMS seems like an excellent option. Concerning batteries, even lifepo4, I think it'd be good to have at least one fail-safe. There are a couple of threads I have come across on this forum that seem to lean into the realm of a potential sec...
