Re: Best BMS or a list of best BMS?

Ah! So really, you are also picking out an Ebike, or ebike kit to build, or motors. batteries, and other parts to assemble into an Ebike. Am I correct? So, the question is - how much technical skill do you want to use on this project? You can just buy an ebike off the shelf, there are many good one...

Re: Be cautious with battery purchases. Big price drops soon

This sounds counter intuitive and vague.

If demand rises radically, might price increase? Also, when? For when or how long should buying batteries be held off? At least, whenish?

Would a vendor/product rating system for things related to t

Hello, Perhaps this issue isn't as big of a deal to experienced individuals, or those already in the know, but to a newbie like myself, and I am sure even a fairly experienced individual, the number of options are staggering. Websites like newegg and amazon have pretty good rating systems. For the m...

Re: Do you think my dropouts will hold 3000watts?

It'd be real hard to say for sure, there are several different alloys of aluminum, and they have pretty wildly different levels of hardness. Pure aluminum is fairly soft and brittle. Personally, I'd of gone with the most heat treated steel I could have found, I still would change that if I were you ...

Hello,

I've tried searching, but I am unable to locate something that sort of spells out the change log in versions of cycleanalyst. Does anyone know of some kind of list?

Re: Best BMS or a list of best BMS?

What we need to see is the motor and controller and it will be easier to suggest a battery and bms. I don't own anything concerning this matter, yet. Within the motor/controller area, I might go with something from ebike.ca. If not from there, I don't know of any other options other than ebay and w...

I don't mean to offend, but I am guessing this some how relates to not causing a battery to light on fire, maybe you could elaborate?

Yikes. I was considering buying batteries from these folks based on your review, but being deceived is intolerable. I hope you stick it to them.

Re: 36v 30ah vs 48v 20ah for range

36 volts X 30 amp hours = 1080 watt hours. 48 volts X 20 amp hours = 960 watt hours. So the 36 volt battery is 10% larger, and will get you 10% further in terms of watts. Now, what Chalo said is true in terms of running at the best speed, but that has to balance against things like higher voltages ...

36v 30ah vs 48v 20ah for range

Hello, Thanks for looking into this silly question. I am trying to figure out what sort of setup would yield the greatest range. Assuming both setups are traveling at 15MPH (or the same speed achievable either way), on the same bike, settings, path, et cetera, which would yield a greater range? The ...

Alright, fair enough. Do you use BMS personally? Do you use a BMS with something like a celllog8? Or do you act as the BMS?

Best BMS or a list of best BMS?

Hello, The way I see it, there are three ways to go about this. 1. Rely purely on the BMS to keep each cell within it's appropriate low (uncharged) and high (charged) voltage. 2. Use the BMS for the most part while occasionally or frequently double checking it's work, potentially manually charging a...

Re: Water cooling controller and BMS

I am curious, why would you water cool a BMS? I am very familiar with various options in cooling CPUs, I understand how much more conductive water is to air. When a water cooling setup is involved, their processor is being pushed very hard. Is the BMS being pushed beyond what is considered normal fo...

Re: Building a Battery that will NOT cause you to wake up de

If the risk of fire is great, perhaps some type of flame retardant container would be the way to go. One option that comes to mind is a small furnace (example http://menards.com/main/heating-cooling/stoves-add-on-furnaces/wood-stoves/vogelzang-deluxe-boxwood-stove/p-1392268-c-6884.htm), perhaps with...
