Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Both of them look overbuilt, like they originally planned for 10kw with 30Q cells then settled with PF because of price. Probably the range was also one reason then because at 10kW the battery would be empty in no time. Regarding the motor i am surprised that it is no axial flux since the very firs...

I got a few photos of the motor and controller internals (the motor pic is from the russian member VasiliSK): The size of the rotor is approx 100 x 32mm 12N10P design https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/921/7sZjmE.jpg Controller is 36FET https://imagizer.imageshack.com/v2/xq90/923/UzM6ez.jpg htt...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

If someone measured 12 amps with the wheel off the ground that makes me think this is the reason for the crappy range people are reporting. I think we need to look more into this. The wheel alone, when it's spinning off the ground at 70-80kmh maybe takes 100-200W as a guess, or what do you think? T...

Re: Optimal Hub Motor design? Break down of BionX D-Series

https://wk.baidu.com/view/a3647f25aaea998fcc220eba?pcf=2#2 That steel would help its design work substantially better, but still a crutch. Luke you have had right in terms of that. It seems Bionx made some compromises on the D-motor. As they were using 0.35mm lams, they had to reduce the air gap fl...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Maybe 2 chains would be better. We don't know until someone measures the consumption of the motor alone. Belt drives can have quite high loss without load (around 3-4% maximum), but under load it usually outperforms the chaindrive. I don't know exactly why this is the case, but it might have someth...

With the rear wheel off the ground, full speed, I measured 12.3A. This seems pretty high, but maybe normal for this large of a motor. I'd like to try it with the belt removed sometime to compare.
Thats around 700W of no-load consumption which would be indeed pretty high.

Re: Nucular electronics - complete kit for ev! [beta]

There is a setting called: "from hall to sensorless" and the standard value is "1,0rad/ms"
Sounds like the controller will switch to sensorless above a given RPM, but i don't know if it actually does.

Trying a 105t sprocket which is the largest 219 off the shelf tooth size I can find. Would you mind to let us know the supplier? EDIT: ASI 4000 is on the way :D. To better feed the controller I've also got some high c rate lipo on the way. I'm normally not a fan of lipo for safety and reliability b...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike

Allex thank you for the pics and figuring out whats possible. I don't own a SurRon yet, but one day i think i will have one or do some work at one so it's cool to see whats possible in terms of Wh when placing the cells side by side in honeycomb shape. Now, if you can fit 218cells maximum, it would ...

Re: Nucular Electronics owner's thread (setup infos, FW updates, links etc.)

It's quite simple : range increased by 30%. Motors won't go over 70° even with continuous 80/100 amps (front mxus 3k 3t, rear qs273 4000 4t) on steep hills and long distances. If needed WOT delivers a total of 180a battery / 400 phase bursts that are included in the 70°c motor temp mentionned above...

Re: Toyota Prius A/C Compressor Motorbike: The Bike of IPM Motor Science

So if you were to coast at 30mph with no field weakening currents, does this mean you could blow your controller or expose it to high voltages? That is possible but unlikely. You would not see overvoltage because the diodes would freewheel and direct the current to the battery. However, it is possi...

I got interested in this motor when Valilisk mentioned it in his controller thread. you and me both :) I'm I understanding correctly, does ipm motors with flux weakening now allow us to spin motors at higher rpm's with lower voltage more efficiently? Exactly. It is more effecitve bacause of the add...

Re: QS 3000w midmotor

Why would you do it? As far as i know you'll get lower torque and efficiency and get speed, which you don't need at low speed.. ? Yes if we talk about motors which have surface mounted magnets than this is the case. you trade efficiency to get higher RPM and you should only use it if you ran out of...

Re: transport friendly Adaptto charger -Eaton 1,8kW in Peli case

Adaptto controllers have a built in charge function which basically works like a step up converter. Any step up converter needs inductance (and capacitance) thats why the coil (and additional caps) is needed. For easier handling i installed the coil together with PSU into the case, but it could be p...

Re: QS 3000w midmotor

^^ at 8:14 they take measurements on the rotor

Does anybody run this motor with an FOC controller which can apply field weakening starting from 0 RPM?

As for instance 70% q-axis current (normal phase current) and 30% d-axis current (field weakening current) everytime.

Regarding some russia guys who disassembled the 3000W motor (YT vid) the size of the rotor is: 85mm diameter x 70mm length thats always helpful if you compare differnt motors and you wondering which one can do more (peak) torque. At least i found out that it is meaningful if the motors you compare w...

I just want to see on a dyno at ASI, with a well tuned controller, what the motor is capable of. It would be cool if ASI can do this. I'm guessing your 24Fet controller will be able to handle 24S since you're making a 24S BMS for it.

Nucular Electronics owner's thread (setup infos, FW updates, links etc.)

I think that it is time to start a thread for owners of Nucular Electronics. For those who do not know, Nucular Eletronics is the name of a new generation of high-end controller - display - BMS unit's (similar to Adaptto). Some of the features are for instance the "on the fly" programming and adjust...
