Re: My Cromotor E-Bike Build -> more like a moped

Hi Madin, Hope the project continues to go well. Can I ask a couple of questions please? I'm interested in some of your ideas for my own much more modest cargo bike project. What are the 2 controls on your original instrument panel (the one below the CA)? Also, with your master-switch circuit, whic...

Re: Sony Konion V3

sony Konion cells should be normally drift free, but just to be safe i would check the voltage every few weeks or so (for example with a "Junsi Cell Log").
There is no limit in maximum cells in one pack. You can form the battery like you need it.

Re: Samsung INR18650-20R .. yes these cells can punch, new 2

Got my 4 4P 24R packs today, ~3.64V across all cells. Next step is to think through the installment of the tabs, what soldering iron temperature would be okay to use to solder 16 awg wire on these? I plan to connect them in 4S4P like I briefly described above. Take a look here to see if balancing w...

this trike looks like a beast with this big tire :) how does the battery warmer work (main battery?) and do you know how many watt hours it take to warm the battery from lets say 0 to 20 degree? At my home we also have winter now and the battery sags a lot more than in summer. Less volts, capacity a...

im very excited about the adaptto too, mine is on its way in the post :) i ended up getting heidenau tyres inspired by your(madin88) e-moped. also in transit. when it all comes together, ill definately post some pics up. Re: Regen and the Infineon EB3xx controller

Setting the voltage high gives me regen even from a hot off charge battery this is good. and if the cells only charged to 4,1V we are always on the safe side - even on top of a hill I have often charged my 20 s pack with my charger set at 100 volts..but you do have to very carefully monitor the pac...

Re: Big spark when connecting battery to bike

@ John the Adaptto controller i use unfortunately doesn't have a ignition wire for powering on the mcu, so i have to disconnect battery every time with a masterswitch. For the case the masterswitch blow up, i can disconnect it and plug the battery direct to the controller. To drain caps on controlle...

Re: Big spark when connecting battery to bike

The current inrush demonstrated by the spark wears on the capacitors over time, but that's a relatively minor issue. The significant issue with disconnecting batteries all the time is pushing the failure rate to or near 100%. Imagine the fire rate with cars if drivers manually connected their fuel ...

Re: Big spark when connecting battery to bike

Hey, found another nice antispark connectors. I use them on my bike. They have 7mm and are rated for 180/300A. Care should be taken to not wet the thread on the bullets when soldering. Otherwise you will not be able to screw on the plastic housing.. http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/800x600q90/202/3j...

I thought you guys might be interested in some life cycle tests I've done on the INR18650-20Q cell over the past couple of months. I've logged over 250 discharge-charge cycles from 4.18-2.7v at 7A charge and 1A discharge. Capacity loss has only been about 6% :D I think you mean 1A charge and 7A dis...

Re: Phase vs battery current for most efficient setup

Thanks. Yeah, I modded my R12 to give regen at 20s lipo, so I'll have to adjust for that on the LVC. On the EM3ev program, the instructions come so that what you see isn't really what you get. You get the battery amps to 32.5A in order to get 65A battery current. So I wouldn't want to set it to 65A...

Re: Phase vs battery current for most efficient setup

Just downloaded XPD. However, I don't see the EB3xx configs available. I see that you can create one yourself.. I also see that you can set overcurrent to 0s. Do you have to worry about dividing or multiplying anything or is what you see what you get? Cause when em3ev gives you the program, you hav...

Re: eBike Master Switch Design

I am also confused, perhaps Richard will comment, but the 4468 looks surprisingly weak in the Safe Operating Area graph at DC. If we look at the 100V safe current for DC operation, on the 4468 it doesn't even get there at 0.1A, I read it as only barely 40V at 0.1A DC. On the 4110 it was 100V at 0.1...

Re: Phase vs battery current for most efficient setup

Can't answer the speed question..but I would say..use XPD rather than Lyen /keywin software..then you can turn block time down to 0.1 seconds subscribed XPD is also more comfortable @ iovaykind roughly you can say: High phase amps = good acceleration from zero to mid speed High batt amps = good acc...

Re: eBike Master Switch Design

Well, I should have looked at the datasheet before commenting. The IRFP4468 safe operating area looks worse than the IRFB4110, if I'm reading this datasheet right. At 0.1A it only barely gets to 40V whereas the 4110 reaches 100V for DC operation. http://www.irf.com/product-info/datasheets/data/irfp...

Re: eBike Master Switch Design

The safe operation area for those FETs is huge. You'll have no problem. Even a single one won't come close to blowing during precharge. The TO-247 package can handle much higher peak dissipation than a TO-220. that sounds good. thx. My water resistant master switch electronic box (with power supply...

Alan, THX for your time and your calculations. I'm not an electrical technician and i like that you explain. Very nice Board Alan B :) What does the hammond box look like? i am right that this board now will now do instant turn off by using a 2-wire switch? so no more need for a 3-wire switch which shut gate to ground in off position? Is 0,1sec turn on delay safe to precharge about 4000µF to 100V? I have 1...
