I thought that with a good computorized charger LiPos were safe Very safe...just ask Floont. :( http://www.endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=48388 If I understand correctly, floont bulk-charged 35S LiPo? Probably that was reason - every disbalance is multiplied by amount of cells in ser...

Re: DC to DC Converters

My Magicshine works fine on 12 v from a Lyen converter. otherDoc Tested today, my light is also happy with DC 12V - tested it with adjustable DC-DC converter - went slowly up from 8V and nothing did not feel that it wants to go hot and burn. Stopped in 12.2V, no need to test higher limits and risk ...

Re: GNG jackshaft freewheel broken. EDIT:Rebuilt and repaire

I would fill the crack with green loctite. It will keep it from rocking around and lock the pins also. Put a touch on the threads also. It will seep in and fill the crack with a hard plastic type material. Don't get it in the bearings. Yes I locked pins with superglue. Descriptions are under each p...

Re: New GNG Mid Drive Brushless 60V650W

finally something useful! again chains, again noise, and loss energy... Not at all! energy loss will be much lower, i'm sure. At least less than the ~150Watts energy loss at no load with the crappy, poorly designed belt version!?! Will be nice to know what motor sprocket.. keep us posted, fin. Have...

Re: GNG jackshaft freewheel broken. EDIT:Rebuilt and repaire

Be carefull to lock the last ring when assembling. It want's to unscrew. Maybe locktite and a spotweld. (got the spotweld on mine and it holds up fine for 100v 45amps, also the metal in the coggs must be of a nice quality beacuse there is almost no wear after 5 months of daily riding. ) Yes I used ...

Re: "LiPO", another "be careful" warning...

How much does it help to put LIPO to charging bag?
I doubt that bag can survive 6S 5000mAh lipo or two in one bag, maybe it gives you extra minute or two to react if you have smoke alarm nearby and it goes off?

Re: EBike!

With that budget, you cannot get 5000W motor, controller and batteries (hub or non-hub, does not matter). Second, that bike will be ripped to pieces with that power and speed you expecting. Look GNG kit but lower your expectations a little - less power and less speed. 30mph is fast enough for a bicy...

Re: GNG jackshaft freewheel broken. Rebuilt and repaired it.

Seems that I got it fixed. Center part (freewheel adapter?) was welded to freewheel but welding broke - so it turned around inside of freewheel but did not come out because of welding edge.

Re: DC to DC Converters

does anyone know if LED lights designed for 8.4V lion battery can accept 12V input instead of 8.4V ? LED light is "CREE LED XML XM-L T6 LED 1200Lm Bicycle Light Bike Lamp HeadLight headLamp Set" I am using 12S LIPO: about 48V Both Lyen and cell_man sell this converter. 3A rating. I would recommend ...

Re: DC to DC Converters

Generally a 72V DC to DC converter can work under 90V. But generally their output will be DC 12V. It's a bit difficult to buy one which is output 8.4V. Check if you light can use 12V. It will probably ok. How can I check if LED light driver supports 12V? Should I open it to see driver chip or somet...

Re: DC to DC Converters

Hi,
does anyone know if LED lights designed for 8.4V lion battery can accept 12V input instead of 8.4V ?
I have this kind of light and 12V DC-DC converter, can I use it or it burns/smokes my led light?

GNG jackshaft freewheel broken. EDIT:Rebuilt and repaired it

Hi, something happened to my freewheel - if motor turns, its center part turns with shaft but sprocket is not turning under load. It turns when rear wheel is lifted from ground. Has anyone had similar problem? It started to slip when started from stop (did not give much throttle, was gentle start) I...

Re: Bad Boy ultra first build (almost done)

That is nice work :)
If you take that secondary chain reduction apart for modding/servicing, please make more detailed pictures and post them to your build topic!
Would be nice to see what parts you used there to use 3 speeds (2 speeds?) on front chainring.

Re: Chain drive and gearing

speedmd, can you give more information/instructions/pictures about your setup - how you managed to use 3 speeds in freewheeling cranks? As we know, default kit comes with only one gear in front chainring (two chainrings - one for motor and one for driving a wheel)

Re: GNG 450 brushless Mid Drive - Primary Drive Modification

Cannot believe that you can drop load by 100W just by removing tensioner - my test was showing about 50W difference: belt-on with stock tensioner vs belt-off. That big belt sprocket was hard to turn when I first time took belt off so I had to fix it (took freewheeling sprocket off and filed that tub...

Re: GNG 450 brushless Mid Drive - Primary Drive Modification

Hi, has anybody measured amperage/wattage before and after primary drive modifications - how much motor is consuming in full speed and no load (back wheel off the ground) All are saying that stock belt tensioner is robbing lots of energy - exactly how much? I actually doubt that removing secondary t...
