That idea sounds little-bit like a Tesla switch. Google it, here is one article http://www.greenoptimistic.com/2008/01/ ... kSW31EW3Zg

Re: Are you using fuse in battery harness? What type?

My text was misleading - this fuse folder I have right now, has thinner wires (thinner than 14AWG, maybe it is 16AWG? insulation does not have rating printed to it) than my wiring harness, which is 12AWG. My plan is to change it so it is also 12AWG like other harness wires. What chassis wiring mean...

Re: Which and were can I buy connectors

Would be much simpler if you can install controller somewhere into bike frame (so you dont disconnect it)
Then you only need 2 pin connector. Is there some good reason you dont want to go to this route?

Re: Are you using fuse in battery harness? What type?

Hi, I made my serial harnes with inline blade fuse holder and using 30A fuse. Peak draw is 28A so it does not blow. But it gets warm when riding fast (around 20A continuous) because wire gauge should be fatter - at least 14 gauge is fatter than wire in fuse holder, probably 16 or someting. Meelis D...

Re: Cute Q100 lightweight builds slow mtb, fast road

Very useful information in this thread! Thanks Although I bought GNG mid drive and are really happy about its power and torque, I am still liking these small hubs. I want to try one of these :) That is probably best thing if someone wants to make stealth lightweight ebike that average Joe does not k...

Re: ideas/how to prevent theft of mid drive motor?

I doubt that thief tries to steal only your mid-drive motor. Removing it takes much more time than cutting lock and taking full-bike.
Thief must look like bike mechanic down the street at least 10 minutes minimum :) Probably needs to remove bottom bracket etc.

I been using alarm locks. This one is ultra cheap and actually works pretty well, just have to read the instructions carefully when first using it. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-Motorbike-Alarm-Security-Bicycle-Lock-Moped-Bike-f-/300955586601?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item461259d029&_uhb=1 Merel...

Re: Please avoid ebay seller "rchobby*2012" ( BC168 charger)

on the BC-168, each channel is single cell charger. that mosfet is the switcher for that channel. it should work if you can replace it but they seem to fail often. i think it is just too much for the little mosfets. Then why they did not use bigger mosfets if they cannot reliably handle 8A, or even...

Re: Electric "tough bike"

Nice looking, has lots of potential. But that 250W hub seems little underpowered for ebike with looks like this.
First thing is to get it running, can upgrade later if you need more power :)
I want to see it when it is running, I am from Tallinn :)

it would really have helped a lot more if you had opened up the bad chargers and posted up pictures from inside so we would know something about how they died. the seller does not make them, he just sells them so it seems like a lame blame game to say he was responsible for the failure. if you coul...

Re: Please avoid ebay seller "rchobby*2012" ( BC168 charger)

You need a decent PSU. The pulses of current draw on a PC PSU will make the circuit in the bc168 freak because (IMO) the voltage drops so the BC 168 internal current goes beyond a safe level to make up the wattage. Try a meanwell Edit Btw I've blow on up the same way Second time I powered it with a...

Re: BMS for LiPo: yes or no? what is it?

I dont like that bestekpower BMS LVC cannot be 3.5V (Overdischarge can be 2.3V--3.0V)
That is a deal breaker for me, no need to send email for prices - I want 4.1...4.15V HVC and 3.5V LVC, and power 30A+
So I keep using low-voltage alarms and balance charger.

Re: 12V battery or Voltage drop converter for lights?

I use lighting packs reworked from old cells no longer fit for high drain duty. Convertor is cheap and more elegant but I've learned a lot scavenging old cells amd assembling them into lighting packs. Someday I'll try a convertor but years and years of service from junk which only requires a monthl...

Re: wires & fittings blowing up

I suggest to put inline fuse to your harnes until you find your problem (at least temporarily if you cannot get fuse big enough to leave it to harness) Example use inline blade fuse and holder - like used at cars. Without load you can use 10A automotive fuse (red blade fuse). It probably blows if yo...

No, dont remove tabs from cell, separate tab from tab - put screwdriver between two tabs/tab layers

You could try to use small flat screwdriver - put it between 2 spot-welded tabs and try to break tabs free one or two spots at a time. I have disassembled laptop battery and cordless drill battery using this method.
