Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I have seen similar issues caused by bad contact between the battery and its base (with a removable battery). Might pay to check for signs of corrosion or heat around the battery terminals also, if you haven't done that yet. I found in that case that there were two pairs of contacts between the batt...

Hi maitilupas,
That okfeet ad you linked to shows the Tongsheng motor not the Lingbei. I think the link to the Lingbei motor was on the first page of this thread.

Re: New Generations of BB Torque Sensors (Bafang and Sempu)

Probably 3 of the wires are for the torque signal (input +, common -, and analogue torque signal out), and the others are for the cadence signal.
Did the supplier not send you a connection diagram? If not, that's pretty slack! Contact them and ask for one.

Re: FREY eMTB with Bafang m600 is developing with your ideas!

Looks great! Would love to take one for a test ride, and will be very interested to see the final specifications. Just make sure the battery is really well supported and locked into position.. if the bike is as capable as it should be with that geometry and those components, it will be ridden hard a...

Re: New Generations of BB Torque Sensors (Bafang and Sempu)

Lingbei, a manufacturer, is also listing a torque and speed sensing bottom bracket on their website: http://lingbeimotor.com/a/products/p1/7.html Little information, and I don't see any output flange so I assume it is only single sided. Also it is only square taper, so I wouldn't personally be inter...

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

The Tongsheng motor definitely has a full 2-sided torque sensor, and there are only two wires connecting it to the controller. These wires are connected to a stationary coil in a plane perpendicular to the pedal shaft. There is a matched roatating coil on the torque sensor, and the two coils are gen...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Stein, Definitely you shouldn't use a throttle with the coaster brake version of this motor. If the motor is driving the chainring, it is also driving the pedals, so using a throttle would force the pedals to rotate.. not safe. See my post a week or so ago for more details. With these motors, sto...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Farther, As far as the speedo is concerned, I would try moving the magnet on the spoke so it crosses near the middle of the sensor rather than the end. Not speaking from experience, just what I would try in your situation.. worth a try. The motor doesn't look right, as though a wire has been caug...

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

Hi F2, Thanks for the information on this motor. It looks as though it is promising if we can connect to it and alter the operating parameters. I e-mailed Lingbei directly saying I thought that their motor looked promising, but that (based on your report) it probably wouldn't suit people riding tech...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Coaster Brake version, Broken Torque sensor. I recently received a TSDZ2 motor and a spare torque sensor assembly, for me to strip the motor and replace the sensor. It was assumed rather than known that the sensor was broken, so I fitted the motor to a spare mountain bike and tested it. The display ...

Re: Hi, TSDZ2 any coaster brake users? BBSHD build thoughts

Hi, I recently repaired a TSDZ2 motor unit and mounted it on my spare mountain bike to test it. While I had it apart I noticed that the large steel output gear that the chainring is mounted on was solid and did not have the sprag clutch (one-way bearing) in the centre like all the disassembled motor...

Hi TomL, Wow, that's a pain! Nice looking bike, first ride and something breaks. Not good! They had fitted the chain and adj...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Again Casainho. Yes, absolutely clear. Thanks for the detailed and lucid explanation. I think for the type of tracks I ride I would be happier with just the "torque sensor value*LCD" value, so full motor torque could be applied even at lower cadence. You say "depending on the user ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Casainho, Ok, I had been assuming that the motor current (and therefore torque) would be primarily controlled by the torque applied to the pedals, and that cadence would have little effect. So if cadence has a significant effect, then people who like to spin fast in lower gears can set the max ca...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi Casainho, Once again, thanks for the work you are doing on this project. I can see it being very useful to many people. One thing I have never fully understood about these mid drive motors is why there needs to be a maximum limit on pedal cadence built into the controller. Is it to protect the mo...

Hi Mantsos, I haven't ridden a Frey, but I rode a Specialized Turbo Levo with 2.8" tyres and thought it worked really well. With the extra power of the AM1000 I would expect it to get better grip offroad with the wider tyres. Of course it depends what type of riding you do, how soft the ground ...

One problem I struck that sounds similar: Bad contact between the battery and its mounting base. The battery had contacts at the bottom, with matching contacts on the base that mounts to the frame and carries the batteries. The contacts on the batteries were fairly solid "blades", and the ...
