Re: BBS02 on a Road bike with 25c Tires ... Horrible idea???

that is a neat solution. I can't see wanting to hold the throttle down for very long on that setup though. With the push button, all I have to do is grip the handlebars, and I can do that for an hour long commute... Yeah I had that button idea as well at the start. The issue is throttle control. A ...

Re: Raged Cube Reaction 29er Cyclocross BBS02 Build Thread

Just an update after a few months. I've moved the battery from the box mid section for more stealth as I only need 2 bricks of Lipo to power the BBS02 (max 25-30amps compared to my 2.2kw MAC10T). Power requirements of the BBS02 is maximum 30A draw for full power which a 1P zippy compact setup will h...

Re: My New Frame

It's a Roodog frame Looks pretty sweet. I've tried to go full stealth but the limitation is how much battery you can cram into that battery space ( with BMS ). With my higher power build (2.2kw geared hub) I needed more battery packs to supply 40A so hiding stuff was just not possible (full triangl...

Throttle on drop bars are fine. I've been running my setup for a while without issues.

Re: BBSHD and a 15s battery

Because the capacitors are rated at max 63v. if the default controller didnt shut it off, you'd be in for a new controller. If you want to run more voltage, get an external controller.

The easy solution is an off the shelf tradie hoodie with inbuilt heating core. They typically run off a small 5S battery pack.

Re: Drew12345 Trek Fuel Ex7, BBSHD, Battery in Saddle

Interesting... I run 5.8Ah 1P of Lipo rated at 25C (zippy compact) and can get 25 km on the juice and about 50km with me putting in the hard yards pedalling. 9-10km with a 6AH pack means the battery cant push enough amps and is stressed to keep the rated capacity. 5AH of high discharge lipo might gi...

Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

The issue with incremental increases is that it's like cruise control where you need to tap the brake to stop it. The tried and true spring mech where the throttle auto closes is still the safest option. As I mentioned earlier, if you're not on the throttle much, some buttons with set voltage will d...

Re: Light, fast and cheap urban commuter.

Are you planning on swapping the drop bars for conventional flat bars? If so be careful about it. There shouldn't be any mechanical or safety issues with it if it's done properly but bikes intended for drop bars tend to have different geometry than flat bars and vice versa. You might find you need ...

I ran about 2.2kw through my mac motor (10T) with a 12 FET in a saddle bag. It's not that bad if the ambient temp is about 20 deg C. It got warm/hot but never failed.

Re: Drop-Bar eBikes (like a "road" bike)

*high five road bike crowd!* I'd say build it yourself for the experience. Use an aluminium frame as a carbon frame with a powerful rear hub is a "no no" and the carbon thickness around the bottom bracket makes it unsuitable for a BBS mid drive. (physically cant fit it). My cyclocross/gravel grinder...

Re: Looking for opinions for next build: low power 52V daily

Get a BBS02/BBSHD and use your existing battery. If you keep the battery in your backpack, the bike will easily be under 15kg and still have the nimble feel. There is no drag and install is easy (depending on your chainline) with integrated PAS and throttle control out of the box. Sure it might cost...

Re: BB7 Rotor recommendations

I wish you'd asked first before buying those calipers. Rather than worry about rotors, I'd chuck the calipers and get hydraulic brakes. Hydraulics are set and forget. They always give consistent reliable braking. I run standard shimano rotors for my BB7 Road calipers. They work fine for normal duti...

Why not slap on a BBSHD or BBS02 on an existing cube frame for cheaper? FYI : I run a 29er Cube Reaction monster bike ( 29er MTB frame with fat wheels tied to a rigid fork and drop bars ) with a BBS02 for balance and light weight (relatively).

Urban commuter I would go 29er as the fatter wheels make them fairly compliant on the road with combination of disc brakes for stopping power and geometry make them very nimble compared to a road bike. You dont have any hesitation jumping a curb or rolling through fields/gravel paths unlike a road b...

yes. the biggest bearing is at the bottom and the bit smaller bearing (2 from the right) is at the top of the headtube.
