Re: fork installistion, ring too big?

on the frame page it says : Headset - Headset is included. High Quality semi-integrated, sealed bearing, original Taiwan VP Components J305AC(S) headset, compatible with standard bicycle 1,1/8 and also tapered forks (two different bottom rings included). For the EBB frame you should have gotten this...

Re: fork installistion, ring too big?

You have the wrong size crown race. The crown race you have looks like it might be for a tapered steerer. The crown race needs to match the headset. Eg. if your headset is tapered and your fork steerer is straight, you need a crown race adaptor (about 5 from chain reaction or $10 from your bike shop...

Ok cool, I get what you are saying Raged. That is beyond my electrical sophistication but I am sure I would learn a lot figuring it out. (or I could ask my engineer brother how to do it, struggle to understand what he is talking about, ask too many questions to the point he will build it so I will ...

. It is about 500g compared to a bontranger carbon seat tube ( 220g ), but if it makes it more comfortable, I can spend more time in the saddle. If you want to lose the extra 280g just take a dump before you go for a ride  As an engineer... I strive to form my poo babies in the image of the Mo...

Re: Raged Cube Reaction 29er Cyclocross BBS02 Build Thread

Update... 1500km since putting it back together and drivetrain still feels tight. Creaking seems to have been ironed out. New upgrades... I splurged and got a Satori Suspension seatpost from cyclingdeal down in Melbourne today for $35. 2cm of suspension for my ass as my back was starting to hurt a b...

Re: Drop bar controls set up

It kind of sucks that the industry still hasn't really come up with throttles and e brake handles made for drop bars. There are brake switches that install in line on the cable, but where to get them and how they work I don't know. I'd like to see a tiny trigger throttle, that could mount on the bo...

Re: upgrade for cheap "wiring block"???

RJ25 connections dont like vibrations. You'd need to plug it in then glue it for a semi-reliable connection. Even then, you still couldnt trust it on rough terrain. I'd personally look at the smaller waterproof plugs like the HiGo which is nearly the default for alot of ebike kits (it's quite expens...

Always good to see other options for people who like using dropbars. How do you like the placement? I put mine on the left hand close to the bar so I can use my thumb to throttle up. Keeps the cockpit clear and keeps the thing stealth from the front. *edit I personally dont run brake senors. You onl...

Re: Why Chinese Cities Are Banning

Not surprising... When the chinese say "ebike" it's not the pedal units we're used to. They're more like scooters which are very heavy and cause a fair bit of damage to a pedestrian in an accident. I highlighted this last year when I was travelling around China in my Cube Cyclocross build thread. I ...

Hrmm... I need to check if the bike pit centres we have also provide free power. All the electric BBQ's are free to use, so I dont know why there wouldnt be a free charging station with a standard power plug. Bike pit centre is a stop at the local park where councils provide air pumps/drinking water...

Here is a pic of where I had to shave the BBS02... I was slightly paranoid, however there is alot of metal meat there that can be shaved. I did take my time with it... alot of re-fitting and marking and slow filing. http://www.kiiku.com/29er_Road_warrior/20160424/BBS02_Shave_20160424_050249.jpg I've...

Re: Inaccurate LED or controller problem?

Where are all the Lipo gurus who talk newbies into going with Lipo batteries ? They are fugitives in hiding now. As if the balancing and other pack issues are not enough complications. The optimal pack size for the common 48V kits, and the attendant battery cutoff circuit, is 13S, which goes really...

Re: Inaccurate LED or controller problem?

48v requires 13S or 14S. 12S is for 38v kits. You need to buy an additional 2S battery to bring the battery up to specifications for that motor.

how many miles total? Since you owned a 29er with suspension on the front also, what do you recommend a 29er mtb or 700c CX bike? Nice Job on the thumb throttle on a drop bar mount. Have you tried to mount it on the right side ? If you come up with any improvements on it please let us know, ( I want less spring tension on mine ) How did you brake your other 29er frame ? that could be bad in regards to your body if that happen...

Re: Building a super stealth water bottle battery!

Most I could fit in a large waterbottle was a 7S 5800mAh 25C zippy compact. I have 2 waterbottle holders for a 14S setup. Making the batteries fit in the bottle wasnt an issue... its the bottle mounting mech that I didnt feel safe with.

I might revisit it in the future.

Re: The biggest problem at 25mph+ is rarely discussed resist

Anyhoo, preamble aside, a heretical? suggestion which one would think may suit many who want fast and range, is a simple traditional (post mig welding manufacture seems wise?) road bike with drop bars, 28" racing wheels & tyres ? and a simple front hub motor. I often had a total load of 100kg (i am...

Re: What Brand/Model Tires do you use on your Electric Bike?

Swalbe big apple when I had a hub... because heavy rear sucks without suspension and changing a flat of a hub motor sucks the fat one. On mid-drive I run Conti TravelContact as weight is centered and bumps suck slightly less. Also, tube changes are simple. this is for a full rigid bike ( Cyclocross )

ok i'll try this on 14s lipo first to see how performance it is before building the 18650 pack. i just use normal turnigy 20c lipos. i know that the c rating is grossly overrated but even if i only run some small 5ah batteries (so 14s1p using 5ah lipos), would that cause any problems? even at 25a w...

Re: First build looking for critique / advice

Regarding suspension... it's all about personal preference, the roads you ride on and the total weight of the bike. If you're mainly on flat roads and bike is under 20kg you might get away without suspension if you have some semi fat tires . I ride full rigid for my commutes with a 28" tire. With r...

Re: BBSHD help

I've got 48t on my BBS02 due to the chainring to chainstay clearance. I think you'll be restricted as well unless your chainstay is a longtail bike setup. How close a 48t on a BBS02 is for a cube reaction 29er. http://www.kiiku.com/29er_Road_warrior/20160313/0462d9cb-bfab-4165-a9dc-c5144148da78.jpg ...

Re: First build looking for critique / advice

- most 48v kits will happily do 52v as the caps are rated at 63v with high voltage cut off at 60v (just in case). - 8km each way (16-20km round trip) you could easily do with a 5Ah battery pack, so you keep the lightness of the bike. - longer distances you might want to get around with a 14Ah pack. ...
