Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor
Irrespective of the test results, I think your point (cd) is the killer for air vs oil for me. Not too keen on dirt crudding up my stator and shorting it. Two holes one bolt a splash of lube and I'm done. Well you know what I mean!

Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor
Thanks Madmax- the INOX sounds good (1yr nothing eaten) I def like the simplicity of oil and keepIng the motor sealed. I commute on dirt roads and a fine spray of dirt gets every where so air vents= ingress. Also for me the benefit is in reducing the peaks as Im not doing long extended climbs more s...

Re: Definitive Tests on the Heating and Cooling of Hub Motor
Are there oils that should or should not be used for hub cooling? apparently some mineral oils can attack plastics paints etc. that would be bad for insulation seals etc. im leaning towards adding some oil to my 9c- dont know if this is an issue...

Re: Malfunctioning 9c controller?
Up until now the ebrake cut power permanently until reintroduced by the throttle.
I guess it's the change in function thats strange...

Malfunctioning 9c controller?
Has anyone experienced this before, any ideas on how to correct it? I have a 9c controller/hub motor setup. Works great but just recently the e-brake won't cut out the cruise control. What happens is once cruise control is initiated, using the e-brake cuts power whilst squeezed, but when I let go po...

Cheers for the tips
Haven't thrown it out! Haven't tested it yet but I will do.

Re: Lifepo4 bms robustness?
Oh I'm pretty sure the current path was between the controller and battery, so back through the controller and also directly to the battery. (just the way it was wired up to provide power to relays independent of controller)

Re: Lifepo4 bms robustness?
As far as I understand, turning off the coil in a relay causes a Bemf spike, which is why it has an internal resistor built in, to provide a current path. Otherwise I would have protected it with a diode. Now in my haste to get it going I neglected that it was a 24v coil and sent 50v through it. I a...

Lifepo4 bms robustness?
Hi all Does anyone know how susceptible a Lifepo BMS is to voltage spikes coming back from the controller side. The reason I ask is I have a Mountainboard that has a 24v brushed motor/controller set up with some automotive relays to switch between power and braking circuits. Has worked great for 6 m...

Re: The most ideal BMS for LiFePO4
For a BMS wiring diagram google in images 'bms wiring diagram', flick through till you find some of the pictures of actual BMS's with drawings overlaid. you'll find one very similar to your own i reckon. very handy to keep referring to... they're not to hard once you've got the hang of it. double ch...

Battery-matrix vendor review
Hi all I thought I'd share my 2 experiences with buying through battery-matrix.com, as ive seen a few post asking about this vendor and no answers. i was quite concerned about ordering though this company initially because i couldnt find any positive reviews- only one negative rant (cant remeber whe...

Re: using 2812 9c motor as a generator
a motorbike PM alternator is a cheap alternative to a hub motor (unless you already have one). they also have robust 12v rectifiers that can rectify and regulate the output. you dont have use this though, then Vout is proportional to speed. the only thing is youll have to build a housing/mount. pick...
