Re: LightingRod kit standard 09/2014 edition

Israel is a relatively modern country...is there no such thing as a hardware store in that country? Is there no such thing as a bolt and nut store or even a car parts store? Seems so weird that you are having such a hard time sourcing common parts over there.

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

well after talking about 6 LBS's i came somewhat more confused then before, only one of them seems to know what i'm talking about is said he has the park tool to do that. You have the solution right here. Bring your bike down to this guy and have him chase the threads. Stop musing about details you...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Google "bottom bracket threading tool" Does not look like production only tools to me. You should try to solve one problem at a time and worry about new problems when you get to them. Right now you need more threads on the bottom bracket. Threading tools exist to mediate the issue. Start from that p...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Whatever you do, do not force the threads on the BB. They only go in one way on one side and should go in smoothly. Take your time. If you are not getting it just take a break and come back to it later and the solution may present itself. It took me hours to figure out the bb because I had never don...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Looks like your unit twisted. Just loosen the lower sheet adjustment bolts and realign the unit. Tighten those adjustment bolts up nice and tight without stripping them. I have also added a picture on how to get your hose clamp to take some of the stress that is pulling your unit over to the right u...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

There should be 5 bolts and 5 spacers for that belt guard two of the bolts and spacers are longer than the others. Make sure you are using correct hardware. From your picture you obviously are not using 5 bolts.

Anyone using inline fuses for their batteries?

If so, what type of fuses are you using? I am having problems finding something that will handle 100 volts and 40 amps. I am willing to use an inline fuse or covered chassis mount fuse. Any suggestions?

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

btw i switched the reduction from 33 to 26 by replacing the driver sprocket from 12 to 15 , and i did reach 50 kph, so that's good, i'm interested to see what would happen if switch to 18, but i'll have to wait for chain tool to arrive, along with the extended bb i'm am concerned about the noise co...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

He is saying it draws 160 watts of throttle to just start turning the wheel. The video shows power draw at full throttle.

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Sounds about right. Did you remember to grease up that chain and gears? Sounds like the chain is scraping against the pant guard as it goes around. Check the spacing.

Any way to get 12 volts from an Infineon controller?

I would like to power a cooling fan with 5 or 12 or 24 volts from my infineon controller but I would rather not just open it up and mess around with it until I get the nod from someone who has done it before. Is there a place on the controller where I could solder on some wires to siphon off some po...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

You cant wait 2 days for the end of the month for the proper controller? It is literally going to take that long just to set the kit up on your bike and work through any bugs. You may as well wait for the controller... I think we all know you must be excited but try not to destroy the motor before y...

I like the idea but I have some serious concerns with the design.

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Interesting idea. I wonder if beefier lower mounting sheets (maybe twice the thickness) could alleviate this issue. The twisting motion does occur for my kit as well but since I have properly tightened everything up and added the pant guard on the front crank gear my primary chain has not fallen off...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Assuming you have your throttle going directly into your CA, check your maximum speed setting on your CA. If you are exceeding max speed it shuts off power, and sometimes powers on and off quickly when you are right around maximum speed. I just set mine to 500kmh and no more problems. As for the mot...

Re: LightningRods mid drive kit

Not sure if this is helpful but I have been using a rubber mallet to tighten up the crank gear to the BB, I get around 4-5 threads on the bolt after that. Pain in the ass taking the crank gears off after that but a little brute force and back and forth motion usually does the trick. For me the crank...
