Re: Two chains on triple crankset? Gonna rub or not?

Well for what it's worth. I'm still in the process of building my first ebike, but it sounds like we have a very similar idea of what we want to accomplish. Depending on what kind of motor you're using, there may be the option of driving the LEFT side of the BB with another crankset. The caveat the ...

Re: Two chains on triple crankset? Gonna rub or not?

I'm having a hard time telling from the pictures if individual chainrings can be swapped out on the M371 but it looks like they can't. My gut feeling is that you're gonna miss not having access from the big ring to the wheel. An old 10 speed crank set might do you better. You'd only have 1x7/8/9/wha...

Re: Dome Motors 600W mid drive kit

Derp. I think I knew that and had it backwards.

Note to self: Outrunners have the spinny bit on the outside a la DD hub motor. Inrunners have their hamster wheels inside like the GNG.

There. That seems easy enough to remember. :)

Re: Dome Motors 600W mid drive kit

Never had one. You say "give them up" with such a sense of permanency. What's wrong with outrunners, if you don't mind my asking?

Re: Dome Motors 600W mid drive kit

The general profile looks the same, I agree, but there are differences. This motor appears to be brushless, for one. I almost bought the stupid thing last night, cause I need another project to spend money on...

Re: Dome Motors 600W mid drive kit

You should probably buy it and tell us what it's like. I've been eyeing this one up a fair bit myself lately. 13.4 N.m seems a little wimpy, though. And yea, that motor looks kinda familiar...

Re: Problem with Grin's Slim Throttle

Ah. I suspected as much. And no, you're right, I should have also mentioned that I am connecting to a generic controller without a CA.

Thank you for your prompt reply. I'll be sure to report back after I've checked into this.

Problem with Grin's Slim Throttle (wiring)

Hi guys. I just recently this lovely piece of hardware to replace my existing (and rather clunky) half twist. It looks good, feels good, but I just can't get the thing to work. At all. I plug it into the same 3 prong JST port as my existing throttle was, but nothing. I am honestly at a complete loss...

https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=98636 Fechter, I kind of think I know what you're getting at, having remembered this guide. It occurs to me that "low power" was never really defined, but I still feel that cell level fusing is the way to go Hwy89, thanks for the tip on the 1/2"...

Re: Meanwell HLG-320H-54A + ignorant battery design questions.

Nice. I knew I'd get some intelligible answers here. I am using new pink cells from nkon. 35E. Amberwolf, your answer is by far the most detailed and by far fills in the most blanks as to how a BMS actually works. I can't help but feel that the best option for me is simply to have sense wires availa...

Meanwell HLG-320H-54A + ignorant battery design questions.

Hi guys. First off, I just received the afore mentioned meanwell led driver from digikey for $130 Canadian pesos (super fast delivery time, btw; highly recommend) but the thing seems to max out at 58.7VDC. My question is will the 0.1V deficit give me problems balancing a 14S system using a cheapo BM...

For that price, I might just hire a 3rd party courier.

Can these do 58.8V for sure, or do they actually top out at 58?

Re: Converting a hubmotor to a middrivemotor

So using this data as a point of reference and according to my math a code 8 BPM @ 48 volts should get a person 442rpm at the output sprocket. Bafang BPM data.jpg 398*5/36=55.277kV 55.277*48/6=442.222rpm To get a reasonable pedal cadence of say 80rpm we would need to gear down by a ratio of 5.527:1 ...

Mind sharing where you found such an awesome deal on that BPM? Inquiring minds want to know.

Also, is this the staton inc. adaptor you're talking about?

Re: DIY spot-welder, transformers from microwave ovens?

I actually kinda like that design with the capacitor selector. Very resourceful use of low tech parts. A friend of mine once showed me a spot welder they'd developed at DND (about a hundred years ago) that used a rotary phone to *ahem* dial in the number of pulses needed to make the weld. Life befor...

Re: Reliable aliexpress battery pack?

Hope this is not too OT but I notice on their aliexpress page that UPP packs won't ship to Canada. When I change the location to the US it says it won't ship there either. In fact, out of the handful of countries I selected, only the UK and Norway were viable options, which really doesn't help me at...
