Re: Panasonic 18650PF vs. Samsung 25R

If you are looking for best performance etc go for sanyo GA 3500mah . Best capacity and fairly good discharge current. If you are considering only PF and 25R i would go for 25R. They are higher current and will perform good. pf's will get very warm at constant( with that motor it is very much likely...

Re: EU Group Buy for MXUS 3000W Hub Motor 177€ + Shipping

The price in this group buy was never 177€! The final price for V1 unlaced with shipping was 210€. Are you including the final fee of 5% due to currency? I ordered laced so i dont know how much for unlaced it was. All in all the price was never 177€.. So you should prepare about 210-220€ whenever t...

Re: EU Group Buy for MXUS 3000W Hub Motor 177€ + Shipping

Price of this motor unlaced is about 230$ right now.

If you are looking for a complete wheel i do not recommend. In this groupbuy i purchased one and from shipping it was dented... It is best to lace on your own. Local bike shops are very cheap at that.

Re: JP spot welder

Does the polarity make a difference? Hate to blow mine up on the first try. Absolutely. If the battery is reversed, the FETs will conduct through the body diode so the output will always be on. You'd see a big spark when you touch the electrodes to the cell. This may or may not damage the circuit. ...

Re: New Battery "Breaking In"??

Some sources say first cycles should be on rather conservative discharges to break in batteries after long storage period. And it is always recommended for batteries not to sit too long on fully charged state but you probably knew that :P

Re: Panasonic NCR18650B 2.7kWhr pack for my Stealth Bomber

These cells after few months of use won't show noticeable loss of capacity given 1.2C max current consuption. So i would say there is too early to judge something but another question is what we expect :P Li-ion ncr's are proven to be very reliable.

Allex, did your connectors get hot when welding? I suppose there is a lot of current from these lipos.

Re: Zero MX 2012 Battery Build

550A for 18 Samsung 25R cells is too much. For brief bursts it might be ok but these batteries are no miracle.
You must reduce current or increase parrarel number of cells. for 550A I'd go with 35P instead. They will last longer and will not heat up much

Re: 3500-mAh NCA cell, Samsung, LG, Sanyo, Panasonic

Okay, i got a 35E cell and did a test. Unfortunately it confirmed previous "dissapointing" results. I tested this cell fully charged to 4.2V: 10A current 2.5V cut-off I measured 0.15V voltage drop across measurement cables so take that into consideration. Here is a graph i got from LogView via Raytr...

Re: 1000lbs of Laptop Battery Teardown/Testing

For low-power applications they will be good(unless they just don't have capacity). But be prepared to invest countless hours for testing. From my experience dissasembling about 100laptop batteries you shoud: 1. Take apart and have 1s2p (most batteries are in 3s2p), or 1s3p 2. Charge them in a tp405...

How are things going with this bms prototype. Is it working now? Does it still need coding? I don't have much experience but i can have a look at it. :)

Re: Cheap BLDC controller, 200A, suitable for 96v 8000w moto

I would be interested in cheaper alternative to sabvoton. I need only 80A of current and 48-84V will be fine.

Do you have something to meet theese requirements Vito?

Re: JP spot welder

There is never too much. I found working with battery giving 720A far more pleasant than with 450A. Both could weld my nickel 0,15 well but shorter pulse is more convinient. Also bigger battery means it holds charge after few hundred welds. Smaller 60Ah battery discharged pretty fast - i could not w...

Re: Recycled 18650 testing - new method - more info.

Regarding only your last question the answer is simply no. Equalizing cells before connecting them in parrarel is reccomended to eliminate high balance currents at connecting stage. But voltage difference less than 0.1V will not do much harm, probably none. The other thing is series. Balancing packs...
