Re: ”The barge” efoil build

Got a new prop printed, received both their real print and the test print so i did a carbon overlay on the uglier test print. It needs some coats of epoxy to fix the surface but i’m really happy with the carbon overlay C0C00041-75BC-4AB3-B4BE-C870A570E28B.jpeg Looking forward to healing and using it!

Re: ”The barge” efoil build

My foil actually is designed so slow that it is very blunt. Radius is about 10mm so you cannot get cut. I’ll have a think about protection..

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

90 degre means the direction perpendicular to the fibers in a composite - basicly where the epoxy sets most of the stiffness. It’s not the same as the thickness of the plate direction. You only need to have more directions in your layers to get a decent stiffness of the sheet. Like -45 0 45 90 direc...

Re: APL's DIY axial-flux motor

You don't need strength, you need stiffness, ie high youngs modulus and thick material in the axial direction. Thickness of your plate is the major part of the bending stiffness. stiffness relates to plate thickness to the power of 3 Don't know your engineering background but a simple example: a 1mm...

I totally agree  :D
I guess i’ll be fine in a few weeks but right now it’s pretty miserable. My face is twice the size and even my dog is scared of me due to my weird movement pattern.

Re: ”The barge” efoil build

Speaking of poor electric karma.. the good thing is the barge worked beautifully last session. The bad thing is that i hit a rock under water at full speed. It was large enough for me to hit it also in the crash - An incredible luck was that i didn’t go unconscious and drown as i was riding alone. So...

Re: Continuous Charge Amp vs Continuous Discharge Amp

@emark: It seems to me you think you are on to a great discovery, and your tone is annoyingly demanding. You’re not in any way breaking new ground and the cell manufacturers are not deceiving you. The truth is simple: you can charge at higher charge rate since normally datasheets doesn’t show the ch...

Re: ”The barge” efoil build

I will ship mine to the south of spain, so they can play golf and zip colorful drinks with other old timers. Nice being able to joke even after paddling back the e-foil to the shore. Did you get far off shore before break down? I was on a lake so only 1km from starting point. Still a bit tiring for...

Please keep this votol thread on topic. You have your other thread to discuss all non votol issues. Please beware that in your thread fechter is talking about hall spacing 120 degrees and that phase angle is not the same. Phase angle directs when the coils are fired in relation to when the hall sens...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

From the super soco forum The TC hs 54 electric poles (60 permanent magnets), that is 27 pole pairs. I wouldn’t trust someone that gets 60 magnets to be 27 pole pairs.. One pair is two magnets, 60magnets is 30 pole pairs if this wasn’t clear. Yeezus. The other thing is if you haven’t even got the sa...

27 pole pairs.. is this correct? Which motor?

Actually, if you don’t know this it’s very easy to check.
Take a compass, aim it at the outside case of motor where your magnets are. Turn once and count number of norths (or souths). This is your pole pair number.

Yes, off course but he didn’t compare to a kelly. I don’t seem to have the temp limiting in my old votol either so this was introduced at a later stage.

Because Kelly is better to program, using PC/Bluetooth/Tablet. Yes Kelly also have more easy software. Yes Kelly don't have flux weakening settings, but it have more torgue in start. There are 50 kelly models, some which are more powerful than a votol em150. Some also match their motors better, suc...

Once that's done you get to say things like: RTFM . Before getting frustrated make sure you've done what you've can to avoid it. Thing is that there’s a manual. It’s already ok to just read and use. Most difficulties outside of this are answered already in this thread. So you are too lazy ...

Still you’re only at 60%.. i’ve run 100%/100% so your settings are still very low. Good it’s at a level that works for you but still no real fix for total performance.

Waterproofing my bafang thumb throttle for the barge with liquid tape. It was actually already (halfway decently) sealed which was a nice surprise :D

Driving motor with wrong parameters can kill any controller. Reason is that it loses control which can cause overcurrent spikes and overvoltage. One can never be sure what was the true problem with your controller but if i had a business, sold it to you and read this thread then i’m not sure i’d giv...
