Re: Observed trials bike designing

Why not get or build a 72V battry pack and use a lower gearing (mid drive QS motor, not hub?) to be able to use all the power the motor has to offer?

Re: EASY/FAST/INEXPENSIVE way to connect pouch-cells together

For pouches with thin metal tabs that are long enough and not too wide maybe a tube squeezer key made of bare copper wire could be used to roll them up together. Then put small metal paper clamps over the rolled up tabs and remove the hinged wire "handles".

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

@slowco that's an excellent proposition. The tdsz2 is very nice for range. It's pretty noisy and lack torque but it does make wonders for battery consumption :) The TSDZ2 probably only lacks torque at the legal 250W limit on standard firmware  Although I have no experience with that mid drive...

Re: Lifepo4 prismatic cut off voltage question

What you do need to do is leave it on the charger for many many hours after the light is turning green because bms down the high cell which will return on your charger to fill up the rest of the path but it takes a long time over and over again. But that won't work if he really has a 55V charger (i...

Re: Lifepo4 prismatic cut off voltage question

It maxes out the charging voltage to 55+V.... so I think I am now good there. Much better, perfect in fact. ??? At 55V max. charging voltage it is possible that the BMS is not balancing yet as that is under 3.45V per cell. That might explain the widely varying range. My LiFePo4 16S BMS starts balan...

Re: New "Lingbei MM28.250 torque sensor mid drive"

I’m thinking of buying a lingbei too, what is your range on low assist? What battery capacity should i need for a 100 mile range? That depends if you live in Limburg or the flatter parts of the Netherlands. If you're looking for a mid drive with torque sensor you should also look at the TSDZ...

As there seems head room enough why not place your seat/bench higher so you can put the batteries underneath?
Especially with Nissan Leaf modules laid flat you can put way more Ah/Wh of capacity under the seat and have long trips together

That is a nice hybrid type solution. Just like an Opel Ampéra. The gasoline engine only provides electricity and no direct propulsion. Beautiful trip. Wish I could still sit on a bike that long.

A bit expensive but electric assist wheelchair wheels do exist. You could lace them in 20" fatbike rims with fatbike tires and use a beach front wheel attachment to go over rough terrain. https://www.sunrisemedical.com/manual-wheelchairs/quickie/manual-power-assist/xtender . There is a lot possible as a solution for mobility. But you need to know what will work in your situation. What terrain will you be riding how steep will you need to climb on what type of soil etc.

Anyone who wants them can have them - 175 V at top of charge (42s2p, 5000 mAh cells).

Would make for a baller e-bike :)

Thanks for posting this. Great craftsmanship!
I take it that the pouches that were still holding a charge of around 4V can be reused in a lower power application battery pack?

And thanks for the spare belt! I think I will drop it down to 175A (from 190 currently) and see how it goes. No, no, you will have a spare belt so you need to test out where the limit of the belt is! Just increase the phase amps until the belt looses its teeth or breaks so other owners know how far...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

No you can't magically connect 4 batteries series-parallel and get 4 times the voltage AND 4 times the Ah. 4 batteries in series= 4x the voltage but the Ah stays the same as a single battery 4 batteries in parallel= 4x the Ah but the voltage stays the same as a single battery 2 batteries in series c...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

As I understand, what is in the video, and what I drew up, is that the series and parallel are combined , as shown in the latter part of the video. In their example they only used a 24 volt example, thus doubling from 12v to 24v AND doubling the ah from 115 to 230. At least that's how I understand ...

Re: C Cab Hot Rod Power Advice

If you put 4 of those batteries in series then the voltage will be 4x12V=48V but the Ah will stay 20Ah (22Ah for the batteries in your link). If you use them in parallel then the voltage will stay 12V and the Ah would be 4x20Ah=80Ah. And if you put some serious load on the batteries put in series wi...

If you're in a wheelchair and have trouble sitting on a mobility scooter and transferring to another (wheel)chair then maybe it would be better to get a motorized handbike that fits your own wheelchair. 116083-13115339.jpg High-torque-350w-motor-electric-wheelchair-handbike.jpg s2-1fade-2-2_copy.jpg...

Re: Chinese controller to power chinese motor

If you ride the top speed on 72V once in a while and not continuous then it will be fine. If you want to use the motor up to it's limits then get ferrofluid (statorade) plus a temp sensor in the motor and maybe add HubSinks. That way you can run much closer to the limit safely without damaging anyth...

Re: Chinese controller to power chinese motor

According to the seller it is a 35mm height stator/magnet motor so the 1500W seem legit. They say it does 600rpm @ 48V so that would give appr. 66km/h with a 23" outer diameter tire unloaded. It will then probably do around 60km/h top speed riding on flat surface. See here for more info on the 35mm ...
