Re: 70$ Li-Ion Battery Pack 48V 10.5Ah 500w output

Does anyone have a link to chargers appropriate for these? I did some searching on amazon and elsewhere and found some 42V 3A chargers, but they don't appear to be the right ones. I searched using terms like "ln-awk-07" battery charger, Xiaomi scooter battery charger, and others.

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

They have the Astroflight 4535 15kw 94% efficiency, make a good mid drive but it is out of stock. The $2,500 price tag and the description seem to point to it being hand made. At 12 lbs, 15 kW peaks are extraordinary. It can probably handle a bit more than that for short periods of time. That said,...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Too bad Astroflight doesn't make a hub motor that can make that sort of efficiency at lower RPMs. These mid drive units need a reduction ratio to run at an rpm appropriate for moving an e-bike or trike. For their size and weight, they can pack a massive amount of peak power with the right controller...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

It's as if you haven't given much thought to why that is. It must be because everybody in the industry is lazier and less insightful than yourself. Projection, a bit much? I can think of lots of reasons why they may not be on the market, but I'm not employed by them and don't know the inside story ...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

My friend used a pneumatic grinder inside the axle to just barely fit a bundle of wire-taped and duct-tape wrapped 12 AWG along with the bundle of auxillary wires through the front mount version of the 5T 1500W motor. It was an ordeal. A 72V 200A Kelly controller will be driving it, albeit it's prob...

Re: Jack Rickard Jr. next level

It wasn't his weight that killed him, even though I was thinking it would do him in for years. Almost no one who lives past 80 is Jack's size or larger. It was lung cancer that killed him. What sucks about losing Jack is that he was the only person I met in real life that knew more things about elec...

My A2B metro has been down for quite some time. On sugesstion of another ES member my plan is to update with the new leaf kit listed below. https...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

Its not a set constant of 10 weeks. Post office advertises that shippments MIGHT incure longer delivery times of up to 10 weeks. I get that. It's just that my experience thus far is that everything I ordered from a foreign location(I'm in the U.S.) has taken AT LEAST 10 weeks. I'm still waiting on ...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

A friend of mine ordered the front drive version of the 1500W motor for the 3-wheled car we've been building. At the time, I was not aware that it came with smaller phase wires than the rear drive variant of the motor. What are the largest phase wires that will fit? My guess is 12 awg, but I want to...

Re: N.E.S.E. the no solder module

There are inheretant issue with welding. Battery packs move ever so slightly even in most rigid packs which introduces high stress point on the welded strip. Also heat damages cell protective surface and it is more susceptible to corrosion. I seen packs damaged this way, segway, makita etc. A frien...

Re: Jack Rickard Jr. next level

I feel fortunate that I got to meet him. One of the conversations we had in 2013 was about using a 48V system to run a low pole count AC drive in order to keep inverter component costs down, which would still allow peak power at a high enough RPM to reach freeway speeds. Him and I were in agreement ...

Re: Delta trikes vs tadpole trikes

The differences between the two are much more dependent upon the CoM and frame geometry than the inherent type of layout itself. One will generally have an easier time designing a delta for high-speed straight-line stability and maintaining rear wheel traction than a tadpole, and one will have an ea...

Re: Exhaust fan on velomobile doubling as propulsion

If you have a 100w electric exhaust fan at the rear of a velomobile will you get 100w of forward propulsion? The only way that happens is if the blades of the fan are 100% efficient and the motor driving it is 100% efficient. You might get the motor to be around 95% efficient if you are careful in ...

Re: Looking for a "get 'er done" no weld no solder battery assembly solution

Grins batteries are currently beyond my budget. I'd be considering them right now if I hadn't already spent $350 on cells, $160 on BMSs, and another $250 for a spot welder that's on the way, but I already have enough LiFePO4 26650s to build a 700 Wh pack or thereabouts and enough LiIon 18650s on the...

Re: Looking for a "get 'er done" no weld no solder battery assembly solution

I'm probably going to try my own variant of myzter's method then, as it seems more reliable and less likely to unbalance my cells than a Vruzend kit. I'll wrap it in plastic wrap used for food storage, make a rectangular wooden box of tight fit that can clamp around the batteries at 4 corners using ...

Looking for a "get 'er done" no weld no solder battery assembly solution

I ordered a kweld spot welder with the intent of building a battery pack for my home-built KMX-framed velomobile the right way, but it will take months to arrive due to the disruption in the global shipping of goods. I have everything I need to get my velomobile converted to electric except for a fu...

This platform is unoptimized and overweight for what we ultimately have in mind, but is being built as a learning experience. Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

There are a lot of good choices out there. I have a Phaserunner in my possession that can go up to 72V nominal and 96A battery and phase current, but even that won't push this motor to its limits. You could try an ASI BAC8000 and limit the phase current to around 150A. Any more than that and you're ...

It sucks that if I order these I will have to wait 10 weeks... They would definitely work for my application. I'm currently waiting on a spot welder to arrive, but that will take a similar amount of time. I'm tempted to order a Vruzend kit that I know is likely to cause many problems that these NESE...

Re: Leaf / leafmotor / leafbike high efficiency 1500w motor

Trying to dream up a bike that goes miles at a 100 mph that can pedal and weighs less then a hundred pounds is kinda nuts. The laws of physics allow for such a build. The question is whether we will ever have all the components needed to make that build possible. Right now, today, with readily avai...
