Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Nice, 3d printing is so cool. I'm in a Retro MTB group on facebook and a fellow there has printed some shifter covers that can't be bought anymore, he did the scans at officeworks and used a cheap printer, they turned out great.

Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Looks like that's because the new fangled Shadow derailleurs sit much more inboard under the dropout than old school ones which would likely clear the coupling. Maybe suggest the seller puts some info about not being compatible with Shadow derailleurs.

Not sure if you read my review on the hub motor, can only wish I was getting 45km/h on the flat!

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

Nice review. I just am jealous because my BBS01 from Emax has only ever gone 38-40km range on a single charge. I have a "15 watt" battery back but my Grin cycle satiator battery charger says it only charges up to about 13.5, but still I wish I could get 72km like you report. Just last week I ran ou...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Each to their own, I'd rather use a dedicated tool, one size for one job tool specifically for those JST crimps, If you prefer the more universal 'one tool does many' style crimper, then I won't knock you for it. At least now he has the choice for himself. I have to agree that having reviewed the r...

Actually I won't bother because a quick search reveals that they are all 42 teeth for CST and BPM.

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

It does seem from other posts online that the RPM is coming from the motor wind but it would be nice to go faster for 20 bucks.

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

I plugged your data into the Ebike CA simulator and the results show that you have a 201 rpm @ 36 V motor. I looked up the codes for the motors and it seems a code 10 would have been the faster one and I have got a code 15. I have 180m altitude gain over 18km with 5 short climbs and I pedal fairly ...

Re: 350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

Thanks for the info motomech, I have to say if I was told you can have a motor that does ~32km top speed, or one that does ~40km top speed I definitely would have chosen the faster one. As you say it kind of makes the Cycle Analyst a bit worthless, and I can pedal under my own steam at over 32km on ...

350w Bafang CST kit from eMax on 90’s Mongoose MTB

The Build First up, you can see my first build here to compare notes when I refer to it in this post. This is my second build, and being totally convinced by the first that this is the best way to get around especially here in Canberra, I put together a plan. At first the plan was for me and my son...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I checked the diode and it was dead, I tried the short circuit with a bit of wire and plugged it in, it switched on momentarily then something went pop. I've put it back together, will get another one with the right pas sensor and start again and send this one off to be repaired. :(

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Now that you mentioned it and I looked through the manual, I found the section about the PAS and the 10v pin which is exclusive for the THUN sensor and doesn't have a fuse, I can guess what I've done wrong. Someone who knows will confirm it I'm sure. It looks like I needed to make up a 3 pin JST con...

My system is 48v, the pack was putting about about 53v. I have a DP system and a Grinfineon controller so I can't power it off another source.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

CRAP! I blew it. I got my conbag, and my crimper, I had everything hooked up nicely, and working, and did the PAS last. This is where it blew. I have a basic PAS, it has red, black and blue wires. I routed them as: red > white (pin 1 10v) black > black (pin 2 gnd) blue > blue (pin 3 dir) I'm guessin...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

I'm guessing that the ebrake and throttle connectors on the Grinfineon are are not used because throttle and brakes will connect to the CA.

I've got the contact details for the local guy who has lots of experience now so it should be a breeze to connect it all up.

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Great stuff, thanks for the fast answers, I will get the one with the pickup so it can't go wrong. I'll check the existing wiring tonight, if it is a 6 pin I will definitely need to change that connector so will order the bag of connectors and I think a local guy here has a crimper as he has done a ...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

Hi all, I have a Bafang CST 48v 350w rear hub motor and 11.6Ah LiPo dolphin battery and am getting a Cycle Analyst CA3 and Grinfineon 25A controller so I can pump some more watts in and get a bit better top speed, plus get more information on what the system is doing. My main question at this stage ...

Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Hi Scotty, I found with the frame battery I also lost speed as the charge went down - related to the drop in volts and the discharge curve. That's why I went down the LiFePo chemistry route - the discharge curve is much much flatter - something I need as my hills are at either end of my commute, no...

Re: 250w Dillenger basic front hub kit on Holstar hybrid

On the battery life in cold weather: My son managed to run his 8Ah battery out the other day (about 90% charge at a guess, all LEDS on battery were lit, 24km trip) and he said it rapidly dropped below half about 3km from home on the way in, it was -2.2c with apparent -4.3c! On the way home he had it...

Re: Bafang BBS01 350w vs Dillenger 250w front hub

Oh I've put down ~80km on PAS 8/9 but with a 1 hour squirt of charge after 40km because I did a couple of small trips to add the 10 k over my normal commute. I ran 9 for over 50% of the both legs today (20km). I'm pretty confident that on PAS 7/8 I can easily get two commutes or 72km. Battery indica...
