Re: How can I check my new battery's true capacity?

Recommend a device called Cycle Analyst from Grin Technologies. It shows you how much Amp Hours you are using while you ride and remembers its data, even when it is off or the power cuts out. Well worth the money to see how much ah you are using and testing maximum capacity and then after that how m...

Re: 18650 battery pack advice for a 36V eBike

Usually 36 volt pack is series of 10 cells (10S). So you could parallel 5 cells and then series 10 of these groups together. Then I guess you can charge half of the battery at a time with your charger.

Re: Running ebike on turbo trainer

It's possible the BMS is cutting out due to one cell group hitting the 3.0V level. How is the battery doing after a full charge? Is it still reading the full 54.6v or perhaps slightly lower than it has been previously?

Re: Tuning the BBS-HD ??

I would vote against using a cheap controller instead of the dedicated BBS unit. You will lose a lot and gain nothing. Cheap or any other controllers, including Adaptto, go belly up as well. You can pull away controller from the motor, add a heat sink to it and you will have 90% failures solved. If...

Re: Anyone tried EM3EV new bottle mount batteries?

I have experienced issues with at least some packs of that sort with the key switch relay inside - they burn out - requiring rewiring it directly, inactivating the key switch. It's worth inquiring about the quality of the key-switch relay. The key is only to lock the battery onto the slider. The po...

Re: Using 4 Milwaukee 9ah (162wh) Batteries to power Ebike?

If each battery can do 20A max, then 2 strings in parallel can do 40A. But I wouldn't run 40A continuous, because the connections would probably overheat and also drop a lot of voltage, and you have a lot of high resistance spring connections. I would keep it under 20A continuous.

48v battery and controller can only go down to about 42v, in order to protect the cells from damage due to over-discharge.

Re: Copenhagen Wheel finally shipping, but

When I had a 36v 350w motor with small battery, I got around 10wh per mi. and pedaled a lot. When I got a 750w 48v system I went much faster and consequently used less of my pedaling energy and more of the battery's and got about 20wh per mi. on hilly 16mi loop.

15-16mi is a good estimate for hilly terrain, but if he pedals a lot 30mi is possible.

Re: A question of range.

No, that is not right. Try the sim again. Adjust the throttle percent on the higher voltage setup to give equal mph speed. If you look at the watt hours per mile in the lower right, the amount of energy use per mile is pretty much the same, regardless of the 36 or 48v.

Also, if any of the individual 13 series groups drops to 3.0 volts (or less) under load, then the battery BMS circuit will turn everything off.

Re: BBS02 - issues under load - help!!

A fully charged "48V" battery assuming 13S (13 groups of cells in series) x 4.2V per cell = 54.6V

Can you identify what battery you have specifically?
