Re: MAC 10T @ 36V vs 12T @ 48V??

People have been repeating the idea that the motor will always overheat if you go slow. When I had a 350w hub motor bike I would just put it in the granny gear and pedal like I would without a motor and add a 200w or 250w of assist (as seen on a Cycle Analyst) with partial throttle and the crawl up ...

Re: Undervolting cheap Chinese direct drive brushless 36V 500W?

The controller will have a low voltage cutoff of around 31V, so won't work. You could use 3 12v sla's.

Re: Run 48v bike on 36v

The controller may have a low voltage cutoff of around 42 volts. Sometimes there is a jumper or switch to change that setting.

Re: Want to change from SLA to lithium

Does lithium charge ok in subzero temperatures ? No, charge at room temperature only. See: http://batteryuniversity.com/learn/article/charging_at_high_and_low_temperatures Li ion can be fast charged from 5°C to 45°C (41 to 113°F). Below 5°C, the charge current should be reduced, and no charging is ...

Re: Want to change from SLA to lithium

First thing I would do is figure out where you want to mount your batteries. Do you want to put them where your existing lead batteries are? Or perhaps mount to a downtube mounted bottle battery? Or rack top? Look at some of the 24v batteries on bmsbattery.com to get some ideas: https://bmsbattery.c...

No, parallel is not what you need. Parallel gives 22.2v. Series will give you 44.4v.

Re: Was my BMS selection correct?

I recommend getting a meter called the Cycle Analyst. With that you can see how much amps or watts or you are pulling at any instant as well as voltage sag. Helps to understand what is going on. i use watt mater. Can measure 600 watt battery Cutoff. The battery is not deteriorated.but i think volta...

Are you using the CA to control the throttle, or direct throttle to controller?

Play around with the motor simulator on Grin Tech site. It will give you some idea of the energy needed at different speeds and what size battery you might want to get. You can see the wh per mile and total range in the lower right box: http://www.ebikes.ca/tools/simulator.html

Re: Need help with battery design for Enduro frame and suggestion for BMS

You can go with lipo or have a custom 18650 pack built. Also, em3ev has 20S10P batteries, but with ~100A peaks rather than 200A: https://em3ev.com/shop/em3ev-72v-20s10p ... ry-pack-1/

VRUZEND not for high power designs at the moment. Only 3.5A per cell limit (10P = 35A limit).

I think it would probably do fine. I looked at the review video (skip to ride at 21+ mins in) and the rider did not seem to have any issue going up a hill from a standstill (on grass?). Maybe contact the reviewer Court with your question?

The units we use that just plug in to the AC socket and transmit through the house wiring (and one to the router) provide ethernet are TP-Link and work well and easy to install and cheap.

There's some ethernet devices that work through power lines. Would depend on your wiring for your buildings.

Re: Multistar charger

I use a Meanwell HRP 600 48, which charges at 13 Amps max. I have it set to 49.8V to charge to 4.15v per cell on 12S battery. I use it on 2 6S 16ah multistars charges very quickly and the cells stay within a few hundredths of a volt.

Best to check your chargers outputs first with a multimeter, or monitor the voltage during charging to see why your not getting a full charge.
