Re: BBSHD CONTROLLER

Are you sure you're not confusing BBS02 controllers? there are two different shapes for the BBS02. The second version looks like the BBSHD. The BBSHD has two connector versions, they are the same except one uses bullets the other uses others colored Andersons. There are BBSHD controllers with gear ...

Re: Bafang BBS01B - Mystery cables

The one with the yellow end is for a gear sensor.

The other two are either 6v or 9v for lights (they are red and black on my BBS)

BBS HD build & KMC chain

Just finishing off my BBS HD build and i`ve had an issue with a new KMC chain, it`s just too short!, 116 links - my fault really. The chainwheel is 46T and the cassette is 7 spd 11 - 34T so trying to get the chain up onto the rear 34T is just impossible. So, should i lengthen it, would that then be ...

Re: DD Hub as a mid drive motor pros and cons?

^ Correct!!

The torque produced by the motor coming out of a corner for example will dig the rear wheel in and lift up on the front forks giving little or no traction to the front wheel.

Re: Getting a chain for BBS02.

Will this chain be good for this cassette in combination with a 500W BBS02 using a Lekkie 42T Bling Ring? http://www.wiggle.co.nz/kmc-x8-99-8-speed-chain/ That`s the one i`ve been using with my BBS02 750w. KMC or Wipperman would be the ones i`d choose. Also have a look at this one from KMC, made sp...

Re: New build, Mid Drive or Hub?

Yip 8 speed IGH, made it nice and easy to install, I only use around 4 gears 99% of the time and its quite hilly over here. Is that the Alfine 8? Using that one with my BBS02, I agree with the 4 gears comment, i double click all the time. Didn`t think it would hold up on the HD version though, any ...

Re: New build, Mid Drive or Hub?

some interesting observations here, My first ebike was a rear hub powered folder, 20" wheels and a 250watt motor. It just didnt cut it when it came to the steep hills around here. As well as that the spokes were a pain to keep tight and it wasn`t the quietest, it `growled` at low speeds. Next up is ...

Re: New build, Mid Drive or Hub?

Thanks all, at the minute i have the BBS02 and one of the things i like about it and it`s very important is `Noise`, or the lack of it!!

With the BBS its just a gentle whirrrr, nobody notices the bike approaching,

what about the Q128 or BPM hubs, how do they compare on noise?

Re: New build, Mid Drive or Hub?

thanks for the advice so far guys, i`m leaning towards the geared Bafang 500w another one that crops up is the Xiongda 2 speed, any thoughts on that one? i`m beginning to think that big 700c wheel might not be the best for some hub motors, stands to sense i suppose, motor has to turn a bigger circle...

New build, Mid Drive or Hub?

Have just bought this one for my second build, it`s a british built Whyte Malvern 29er, ticks most boxes for what i need, hydraulic disc brakes, front sus, 700c wheels etc http://i65.tinypic.com/o0yzip.jpg having previously done a BBS02 750w i`m tempted to go for the HD version again but looking at ...

52V/16.8Ah ??

I would have thought that`s ideal for the HD motor

didn`t think of the half-link at the time, so went for a tensioner, only concern is how does the IGH cope with the torque of the BBS02?

similar here, BBS02, Alfine 8, i had to use a tensioner to take up any slack, not expensive, worth a try.

nearly sure there`s a `walk mode` in the bbs02 controller, you haven`t accidentally activated that? Think its by holding one of the buttons down.

Re: changing the cog profile on my freewheel hub

must be one heck of a deep `hole` you have there!

I have the BBS02 with 46T front and 11-34t 7 speed freewheel rear and there's nothing that`s stood in its way yet.

The motor should be spinning pretty fast with that combo and i can`t see it doing any harm. Is the motor getting hot to touch?

Re: Gearsensor Delay BBS02

I`ve recently fitted the Alfine 8 to my BBS02 conversion, i find it`s pretty straightforward to move through the gears with little delay,

stop peddling for a second and the same time clik to another gear, immediately start pedaling on the `clik`

In a similar situation myself with the present 11aH. I take it you still want to keep the waterbottle frame mount? Well i`ve come across this 18aH `bottle` item here http://nl.aliexpress.com/item/48v-15ah-electric-bicycle-lithium-ion-battery-48v-15ah-water-bottle-ebike-li-ion-battery-kettle/32636485...

Re: Programming the Bafang Middrive BBS01+BBS02

I would wait until they come up with the finished article. This has to be done `on the fly` to be in any way useful, and permanently placed into the wiring loom. At the moment too much messing around disconnecting battery supply, fitting input cable to display, making changes, then disconnecting and...
