Re: 50cc equivalent motor setup help.
i would not reccommend that setup with those 7 cell pre made sets. you need something much stronger then the (copper?) tabs alone. you need to have the cells spaced apart slightly and have them in a holder. the copper will move and crack after a while as it hardens due to viberation. having a holder...

it is highly advised to have the highest current capacity where possible and every interconnect between each group will see the same current. 40A on the output means 40A on the interconnect.

yes, you got shafted. this is the current (pun intended) bible for strip ratings: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=187685 i am currently testing from this seller: http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-18650-battery-nickel-strip-0-3mm-nickel-plate-18650-26650-cell-nickel-...

Re: 1979 Honda Electric Dream (CB250N conversion)
looks like a nice setup. i recommend getting the KLS controller. it's smaller and drives much nicer due to the "proper" sinus, the bump in efficiency is also nice. what idea's do you have with the cells? if reliablillty and lifespan is key then pouches are out. lifepo has poor density and ...

Re: 50cc equivalent motor setup help.
we already had some back and forth with PM's. he has a 3kW hub motor he can buy from someone. otherwise a decently sized regular motor setup can be used to replace the existing motor and keep the chain drive. plenty of those on the market. regarding battery size: round trip is something you want to ...

just build a bigger fixed battery. cheaper and more wears out a lot less. and where do you plan to keep a 12Ah battery as a spare?

Re: 50cc equivalent motor setup help.
(fellow dutch here) i currently have both a blue and yellow plate moped (25 and 50kph) and they both run with a 1.5kw motor. 1.5 is usually plenty, you can boost it up to 2.5+kW wich will outaccelerate almost everyone. (more is not recommended) gettin a battery that can deliver a solid 40~60 amps is...

Re: Charging laptop using bike battery?
No. Macbooks have DRM built in their charger. Without that signal the laptop refuses to accept any power. There is a getto way of getting around the charge protection but that entails breaking any warranty and hacking the logic board and have a small lead coming out of the laptop as a secondary char...

first check if it's truly 3 stage or variable (resistor or hall). if it's hall or resistive you will find a 0-5v signal depending on the trottle position on 1 wire. (measure black as ground and check each wire) just put a variable resistor (pot) between the output of the trottle and set the pot as n...

Re: Help please - 6ah power tool batterys repurposed
you can run them with 90A peaks but sustained is a whole difference story. try getting the specs sheets and find out the actual sustained rating. pulling 3.5kW from that motor for more then a few seconds will burn it out real fast. making a 10s10p pack will be sufficient for this application and giv...

Re: Help please - 6ah power tool batterys repurposed
you would need to put at least 6 in parralel. so a 10sp8 pack would be bare minimum if you do not want to destroy the pack in less then a year. 10 would be preferable. this is assuming each motor is 45 amps. it is always recommended to have a single BMS that is rated for the use it will see. but i w...

Re: Solar charging lithium ion cells
Great advice, thank you. All of the BMS I see have over-charge protection that seems too high, like this: http://www.batteryspace.com/pcmwithequilibriumfunctionandfuelgaugefor111vli-ionbatterypackat10alimit.aspx 4.35±0.025V Which to me seems stupid to say it's for lithium ion cells then. If I never...

Re: Solar charging lithium ion cells
you do no need a specific solar verion. but it would help greatly to have a real MPPT solar charger as that is the most efficient in order to get the maximum from the panel. (do not expect to get anywere near 10w with that panel unless you live in the desert) real MPPT is hard to find on ebay as mos...

Re: Zero torque after "warm start"
you can just grab 12v from the inverter that drives the lights and grabd a 7805 and replace the 5v feed from the controller in order to drive the hall sensors. just put some heat shrink around it, it does not get hot at all.

why even use a ICE on a trailer? would a aditional battery pack with capable charger not be more effective? last time i checked you can find more power plugs beside the road then gas stations. put a high end 280W panel on the top of the trailer and you can run virturally without any support from mai...

Re: Making A Distance Trike, I just might go SLA
Before you die of shock, allow me to explain. Lithium is expensive, plus it isn't as straight forward as SLA is when it comes to charging while riding. (solar or generator) I am thinking about doing a tricycle and throw some SLA batteries in the cargo or lower-mid frame and have a generator charge ...

Yes you can, voltage is the same so no problem.
And disconnect after charging. Do not leave floating for days on the charger.

capacity is expressed in Wh or mAh.
if you have a 2400mAh cell and drain it in 3 hours you consume 800mA on average

Re: How do I convert amps going out to mah being used
mah only tells you the capacity, not the current usage. how long does the tablet run with the battery? divide that by the ah rating and you have the average current consumption. by the way, a 4.2v lipo cell with a capacity of 2400mah is only 10.4Wh, not 88Wh. pushing 2.4 amps into that cell if it's ...

Re: Most prevalent battery problem?
Sorry, but it depends on too many factors. Did you buy your pack from a quality retailer or from alibaba or even a diy builder? Was the pack built with "economic restraint" or were high quality components used? There are too many variables to give a answer to this as some only deal with re...
