Re: The real reason for torque arms

If we really want to pretend that we are pilots why not go to Aircraft Spruce and order AN or MS locknuts or drilled nuts and use safety wire? Or is that too authentic/expensive? Racer supply houses also offer titanium hardware with safety wire holes to replace clunky Chinese hardware on axles.

Re: Custom Bafang installation - only trhottle

I just built a fat bike with a BBSHD: simple plug and play with a 100mm BB bike, no metal to be moved or removed and all wires just plugged in w/no problems. I am definitely no expert but it sure seems like the bugs are out of the BBSxx with the new HD. There seems to be a lot more thermal headroom ...

Re: I'm a bit lost. Help me select a kit!

BBSHD........ Bleeding edge for a n00b. BBS02 750W since many kinks are worked out. Bafang didn't do a good job of wringing out problems for well over a year on the BBS02. Do we suddenly think they didn't put this new version out with kinks? That said, buy a BBS02 from a reputable seller. One that ...

Re: Max Speed / Motor Upgrade advice

Your motor is hot all the time because of the enormous rolling resistance of motorcycle tires. What happens if you pump them up to 40 or 60 psi?

Re: 2016 Haibikes are looking gooood

So what's wrong with having an ultra-light electric motocross bike? Moving up from a wimpy 350w Bosch to a 1500w Bafang is simply what Americans always do: we want More Power and we love to hot rod! There is room on the trails for all sorts of machines, we are simply at the dawn of a new era and the...

Re: Bafang BBS-HD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

Given how badly consumers have abused the BBS0x series I would imagine that the BBSHD is simply an attempt to build a bit more thermal headroom into the BBSxx motors and not a true performance improvement. The extra weight etc just means that you can beat on it all day in the hills and it won't over...

Re: Bafang BBS-HD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

I spent Saturday thrashing the Deadeye on the fire roads behind my home. Late Sunday I topped up the LunaCycles 52v triangle pack and went for a short ride with the GPS on the bike. As soon as I got back I charged the battery again to see how much it needed. I went 9.29 miles in 45 minutes for a 10 ...

P-38 recumbent w/Magic Pie V5

Hi, my Bafang fat bike build went so well I have decided to build up my recumbent bike as an eBike too. I am using a hub motor instead of a mid-drive to protect the drivetrain of the existing bike. I also do not expect to be climbing the same sort of hills on the street as on the trails with the fat...

Re: Bafang BBS-HD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

I built up a Deadeye Monster fat bike last night using a BBSHD and it was a straight bolt-on job. No shims, no spacers, no clearance issues and no offset crank arm needed. I used a 100mm HD from Luna Cycles and their tie-wrap triangle bag with their 20ah triangle battery. NOTE: I have a 17" frame an...

Re: Ultra-lite electric MX or eBikes on the X Games?

EBiking is a different sport from both bicycling and motorcycling even though it uses a bike-like object to do motorcycle-like things..... It should be appreciated on its own merits.

Ultra-lite electric MX or eBikes on the X Games?

Given the success of the Bafang mid-drives and the power of the new BBSHD, ultra-lite electric motocross cannot be too far away. And when that happens can the X Games ignore a mashup of big air bicycles and the current MX bikes? I wonder if this future would be a Good Thing or a Bad Thing.....? I am...

Re: Bafang BBS-HD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

I am going to go over and see Eric in a day or two, meanwhile, does anyone know if the crankshaft is longer on the HD than on the 02? And is there a difference in crankshaft length between the 100/120mm HD and the 68mm versions? Inquiring minds would like to know....... Edit: I am also wonderi...

Re: Bafang BBS-HD, 1000W, 68mm-120mm BB

I am planning a Fatbike build and am trying to decide between the 02 and the HD. I have a 68mm BB so I could use either of them in theory, but I wondered if the HD would position the crank arms farther apart than the 02? This would mean that I would avoid using an offset crank on the LH side...... T...
