Re: 5-16S Smart Tiny BMS preorder - 30/150/750A rated

I understand the questions might be overwhelming but if you put the answers in one place it will be easier for you in the future. Digging around hundreds of posts to mine the information is not efficient for customers either. When you find the time please explain more about current handling capacity...

Re: 5-16S Smart Tiny BMS preorder - 30/150/750A rated

I have read all I could find about the 150A model on the forum here, and the available specs & schematics, and I have some more questions which I believe are important and not covered yet to the best of my knowledge. Q4: Can you share more info about max continuous current handling. Somewhere yo...

Thanks for all the quick answers, it is a relief to have connection to a person of significance with the manufacturer, and able to communicate in fluent English.

Re: 5-16S Smart Tiny BMS preorder - 30/150/750A rated

I agree it could be improved. They say there is no limit to perfection... There are many new features on our wishlist and actual TODO list, however note that development is being done in Europe, which is quite expensive. So every new little feature makes it just a bit more expensive product, and we...

Re: 5-16S Smart Tiny BMS preorder - 30/150/750A rated

All of BMS parameters, that you see on Battery Insider application, are available on modbus. The application is actually using the same open protocol. We have many customers who have implemented their own custom SCADAs in their industrial environments. And there are also some customers who develope...

However communication protocol is quite easy (modbus), so it is quite easy to implement any kind of display, from android to custom LCD with arduino.
do you have the protocol spec somewhere?

That chinese BMS offers almost all functionality I can think of. Of course, reliability and accuracy are unknown. I installed that android app but It's not obvious to me how can I see what is happening inside the battery: cell group voltages, current state of BMS (charging, balancing...). I don't ha...

Re: 5-16S Smart Tiny BMS preorder - 30/150/750A rated

As I understand - a windows app is needed to configure the BMS and retrieve BMS/battery data? Are you planning a smarphone app? For example, this one has full configuration and stats available via smartphone https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Free-shipping-1pcs-smart-display-3-2V-3-7V-300A-lithium-batt...

Re: Battery Charge Wire Shorted to Cell? Burned Nickle Strip

IMHO i would not be sleeping in the same house with that battery or riding it. There are no paper insulation gaskets on the positive electrode, and it's not possible to determine the totality of what has happened to the cell when it was shorted. I took me a few days to build my battery and I added e...

Re: here's a very nice 300A mosfet

10W is a lot of heat for something with the tiny thermal mass and surface area of a bare mosfet. There are also switching losses to consider as well as the conduction loss from Rdson Yes of course, heat needs to go somewhere, I forgot about switching losses in the excitement of discovery. But anywa...

Re: here's a very nice 300A mosfet

Looks like a good mosfet, one disclaimer though: Datasheet says 32A continuous if installed on a 6cm2 copper pad, 2 Oz thick. (40K/W). Thats very far from the claimed 300A at unpracticable conditions, so plan for a big heatsink if you want high currents. I am not familiar with this RthJA spec, but ...

justin, please order and start shipping with these so that phaserunner can jump over the current power/thermal limitations. Re: here's a very nice 300A mosfet

1.5 mOhm is a pretty substantial improvement over a 4110. Might hardly need a heat sink. Mouser has 20k on order, $6.19ea in singles. Not bad. digikey has 24 weeks lead time and 0 on stock. Mouser claims some 26 weeks factory lead time. https://www.digikey.com/products/en?keywords=IPT015N10N5 http:...

Re: here's a very nice 300A mosfet

I like the Rds...1.5 micro ohms...impressive! Still it is a 375 watt mosfet. That's really cool that at 10 volts you can run it at 300 amps, but who makes anything that runs at 10 volts? We are using mosfets for motor controllers, BMS and other things that are running at 48-90 volts so that really ...

regain throttle sensitivity after controller shunt mod?

It's a kunteng KT40 12MOSFET controller with LCD3. After shunt mod and beefing up traces it works quite punchy, up to 85A (originally it was rated 30A cont 60A max) but dificult to find the throttle position to keep a low speed gently as expected. The reation to the throtle are too twitchy in the be...

here's a nice 300A continous low rds MOSFET. Package would require some tricks to fit. Not expensive too. Avalanche rating much better than with irfp4110. Kunteng 72V Controller - configure low voltage protection?

I'm looking at this Kunteng 72V 40A BMS from BMSbattery https://bmsbattery.com/ebike-kit/736-s12sn-72v1kw-40a-torque-simulation-sine-wave-controller-ebike-kit.html I have a 16s (50-67V) battery, so I don't want low voltage protection to kick in at 60V (which would be a case with 72V controller). Can...
