Re: Eboard drastically discharging on it's own

Your anti spark switch gets stuck on? What do you mean? The actual circuit won't turn off regardless what position the mechanical switch is at. It is a fairly common issue with this cheap style anti-spark switch. Try measuring the output from your anti-spark switch when it is supposed to be turned ...

Re: Eboard drastically discharging on it's own

Disconnect the torqueboards anti-spark switch and see if it still discharges. I am currently having issues with my anti-spark switch where it gets stuck on.

Ok so I did some plotting in BLDC tool and saw a huge spike in current (well over 100A) occur when the error was thrown. VESC Over Current Error in FOC Mode?

Hello, I have been messing around with my vescs and have noticed a problem that occurs at high rpms in foc mode. The motor seems to lock up and the vesc throws an "ABS Over Current" error. Here is a video of it: Cy9FZJc3MWM The motor seems to work fine in BLDC mode so I don't understand wh...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

You know you can just use a central enabled Bluetooth module on the vesc, and then use the feather as it is as a peripheral. No need for all that hassle EDIT: It seems that the bluefruit BLE does not support SPP and cannot communicate with standard Bluetooth modules, it has a proprietary firmware a...

VESC Motor Current Higher than Battery Current?

Hey guys, I am trying to wrap my head around something. I have seen with my vescs that the motor will see more current than what is being pulled from the battery especially during start up. I am trying to figure out why this is as the VESC doesn't have any transformer on it other than the 5v buck co...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

I have been working with someone in my lab on the feather BLE module and we have successfully flashed and tested firmware with central mode functionality!!! :D :D :D We used an existing stack (heartbeat) used for fitness devices and was able to communicate with a usb bl...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

@RollingGecko If the chip isn't locked it should be easy to flash while on the feather via the two pads under the chip. Only a programmer is necessary. I will release more details about this once I have done it successfully. The code I wrote for the hall effect sensor is pretty basic and is currentl...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

I have been playing around with these bluetooth modules and I have done some more digging with regards to the feather. The feather uses the exact same chip as the ble nano and nordic gives out their firmware for it which supports central role. I have looked at schematics and pinouts and the programm...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

They do support central mode and have a firmware updating utility for their breakout boards. http://www.mo...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Ok, would it be possible to use the feather with the built in radio? Like this one here: https://learn.adafruit.com/adafruit-feather-32u4-radio-with-rfm69hcw-module/overview Or is that a different kind of radio? Also would there be concerns with safety (ie another rider in proximity sending packets ...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Ok so some more bad news. The site admin of Adafruit replied to my request and stated "the chipset in the current Bluefruit BLE does not support central mode. a completely new design would be required, there is no ETA on a new design." So that sucks, I was under the impression that the iss...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

I have reached out to adafruit and one of their support guys said that this has been requested before and that their developers will look into it at some point. Perhaps in the meantime a good balance of tradeoffs for everyone would be to continue using the feather in the remote side and have it as a...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Wow, this is really a bummer. I really think we should stay way from RF though due to the possibility of interference and if multiple remotes are in close proximity. Adafruit states that it is a firmware limitation. Perhaps we could load a different firmware on it or request an update from adafruit?...

Hey guys,
I'm going to be mounting some battery holders and plastics under my deck and was planning on using some thread inserts in the deck. Does anyone have experience with these or recommend a certain type of insert?
Thanks
