Re: motor choice

Check out APS Motors. I'm using their 6355 motor and it works great. http://alienpowersystem.com/product-cat ... tors/63mm/ They have a 190kv and a 230kv.

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Ok, that's what I thought it would be. I think I'll start with 0 to 1023 but I'll see how high I can get the sensitivity. I first have to tweak the design so that the magnets are spaced apart correctly and distanced from the sensor to allow for control throughout the full range of the thumb lever. A...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Ok, I got some more parts in today and decided to start playing around with them. The first thing I did was test the hall effect sensor in a similar configuration to what I have designed in the remote. It works perfectly! I grabbed some code to visualize the signal and tested out my magnets. Check i...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Ok cool. I am getting the last of my parts in the mail and I should start 3d printing tomorrow. Unfortunately I don't have my VESCs yet so I can only do remote side testing. I was going to play around with the hall effect sensor so we can easily implement that into the full build later. I will test ...

Yeah I saw them. I guess what I meant to ask was how long do you think it will take before you have it up and running?

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Do you have also a name to bring a bit more personalty in. :) Lol, yeah I'll come up with something soon, I was just basing titles off of the forum for now. In regards to the spring magnet idea, I have used that in a few of my projects and I was thinking of using it here but I am not sure how havin...

Why not just use a larger cap 1s lipo? I'd be silly to use a 2s and a voltage regulator especially since space is a premium,

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

Alright so a little update from me, I made decent progress on the design. I have refined the mechanism and have found parts. Here is a video of the mechanism. Note there will be a spring to return the mechanism to center. fJ5PC7hjBZw Also I have found a hall effect sensor that is inexpensive and wil...

Re: Charging Boosted Board where no power outlet is availabl

Yeah assuming 100% efficiency on everything, it would get you to about 95 percent charge. However there are losses in both the inverter step up process and the step down in the charger. This would probably get you to 60 or 70 percent at best, maybe even lower.

Re: Cutting Belt Width Down?

So the reason I'm doing 12mm is because I am designing and building a custom dual truck mounting system. I am machining my own pulleys and I wanted to go with 12mm was the maximum width I could fit with the dual setup. The guys over at bb-man are cutting the belt to size for me and charging only a f...

Re: OpenSource Remote for VESC ArduBoardControl

I did a bit of research on hall effect sensors and I think that is the way to go for the thumb wheel. Here is a great little post of a very crude setup. http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3225807/all/DIY_hall_sensor.html I think I will refine this and integrate it into the remote design an...

To work with the code, yeah I mean you'll just have to change the info output to work with your display. Everything else should be fine.

Re: Cutting Belt Width Down?

I may have spoken too soon, I think http://www.bbman.com/ will take care of me. I gave them a call and they said there is no minimum order quantity, but there is a minimum price of $35. As long as the prices for each belt aren't crazy I think this will work! Also on a side note, to anyone who is cur...

Cutting Belt Width Down?

Hey guys, I'm trying to buy a HTD 5M belt that is 12mm wide and has 43 teeth, however I can't find them anywhere and would have to do a custom order with a large minimum quantity. This would be feasible in the future if I made kits or something, but for now I only need a handful to test. I can howev...

Re: Quad Drive Longboard

really looking forward to this! think your enclosure could be a large success for the DIY community if you sell the segments or put them online for printing. all you need is start and end modules (with or without vesc cavities) and middle segments for 650 height cells. would need 2 different height...

Yeah I really like the look of it too. I think it looks like a snake belly so if I end up selling these they'll be called serpent boards. :P I have done some moderate testing and they seem to be alright. I may need to put some negative curve on them to compensate we'll see. Yeah that's why i went wi...

Thanks for the great replys! Yeah so price wise off the shelf parts and some custom machining, it's coming to about $2300. Hey guys, I've been planning and refining my designs for a few months for a rocket ship electric longboard. It will have 4 APS 6355 230kv motors and 36 a123 2650 cells. While doing research for this, I noticed with the exception of the Baja Board and the world record hub motor board, no one else had...
