Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Had my second, out of eight, 6s 16000 multistar get a bad cell. Two separate orders. Was refunded on the first one, had to give photos of all sides of the battery, was over 30 days, no shipping refund as usual. No refund on the 2nd one, was also over thirty days. All under one year old. My point is ...

RolluS

Doesn't look right for the money. No mention of self balancing, regen braking, phone app/control etc. I'd try making one first, riding it would be a different story.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

On the subject of suspension forks. I've been thinking of these I think they could work with some custom triple tree brackets. They seem a little on the long side but I'd be using a 27.5 inch tire or the 21 inch Moto tire rim combo. I do occasionally spend to just try something out which is risky bu...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Good article here... https://chargedevs.com/features/lord-corporation-builds-on-its-work-potting-electric-motors-reducing-hot-spots-by-up-to-40/ Looks like it comes in epoxy and silicone types. How does one pot or immerse a motor? DingusMcgee, is the blower permanent or just to test it out? The nois...

Had to check where you are from. The exterior stairs in that picture don't have a railing. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen here in the good old United States.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Here you go. For iPhone users, and prob others. Email photo to yourself and pick the smallest size setting, then it should work no computer or photoshop required. Batt box needs prettying up. Has qty. 6 6s 16ah multistars, thinking 60 mile range, to be tested...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

On posting pictures, I think they still need to be 640 x 480 pixels am I correct? Pretty much a no-no for using mobile devices to post pictures. I'd also like to post some pictures of my new and improved ride I've been working on. Unfortunately my 2011 MacBook Pro appears to need a new motherboard s...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Robocam I forgot the shunt mod was an option also to get more out of the cyclone. I have a feeling I am confusing the cyclone with with the other mid drive in 02 and hd versions. Besides a temperature sensor added to the cyclone motor how would you know if it has overheated? When the motor stops and...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

DingusMcgee I rode most of last summer with the stock controller for the cyclone 3000, 75v, 3, 6s, multistars. The motor did get hot on occasion but never shut down on me. I'd take a break if it was overly hot to the touch, few minutes at most. I eventually went with a derailleur to have the gearing...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

So using my three multistars 6s, 75volts full charge, wouldn't be advisable with the 50 amp Luna controller? It appears the 60 amp Bluetooth controller for cyclone from Luna has disappeared. I think I remember it being 60 amp, could have been 50 amp. I'm thinking of getting some prices for some cut ...

DingusMcgee

Intriguing indeed but this info needs a "don't try this at home" disclaimer. The 16ah 6s from hobby king are now at the normal price of $120 ea + hazardous goods shipping/no passanger plane shipping.

CobraJet

You didn't get the two round chrome magnets with your order? They have the hole in them, shown in the picture you posted. You need to attach the sensor and magnet to your brake levers. I think the pedal sensor is optical or similar and does not need a matching magnet, could be wrong.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Cobrajet From what I remember my cyclone controller from Luna had little white plastic bands with printing on them indicating each plugs intended use. This may have been elimated as each plug is different so screwing it up would be nearly impossible to do. Ignore wire colors that change from each si...

DingusMcgee Could you do me a favor and check the new black metal mounts with a magnet? Painted means steel witch is cheaper but easier to weld. Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

DingusMcgee Thanks for the info. As I thought I'm in the clear with that 50 amp controller. Were your phase wires the stock standard gauge and length with connector? I have shortened mine and removed the plug, but the gauge is stock. In your case thicker gauge wires wouldn't have helped, probably ju...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

DingusMcGee Please tell the amount that was the "extra amps" that cooked your cyclone motor with the Kelly controller? This info could help those of us out that may go beyond the standard stock controller, thinking about the luna 50amp bluetooth controller. Those multi stars are only 10c rated disch...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

DingusMcgee Putting 6 of the multistars into my frame has become a big challenge to me. I'd like to do 2 separate packs of 3 batteries each, that's 75volts fully charged. I did ride with some eBay floureon brand lipos that were only 13ah and about $100 each including shipping. Obviously the the mult...

DrkAngel
Great info!
It never occurred to me the danger factor with studded tires.
I'm guessing the danger is more with the DIY studded tires as the screws stick out farther then the studs on a purchased studded tire.

Update to mention shipping charges of the hobby king 6s lipo. To ship one to the USA, north east, NYC/southern New England is $30, but six ship for $65. Comes in just under $500 for 6 with shipping. It's shipped fed ex hazardous goods. No more getting around this.

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

As we are on the subject of mounts and brackets I'd thought I'd contribute. In a past life of stubborn stupidity, waisting time and money on a friction drive set up, I 3d printed some motor mounts. I couldn't believe that was just sept of last year. Things went a lot faster after finding out about t...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

DingusMcgee I did realize I forgot to mention I used typical 3d printing to produce the freewheel covers. Viacad was the software I used, like a high end google sketch up, to do the cad work, only $99 though. The covers are 2mm in wall thickness, great to be able to do this nowadays. Just out of cur...
