Re: 2014 Specialized Stumpjumper & Luna Cyclone 3000w

Are you kidding?, "...well done"? I think approving this location[below the motor] is very poor advise: For trail riding this is about the worst place a controller could be mounted. The case of the controller would be subject to getting bent from hitting rocks [which could ruin its end seals] and t...

Re: Cycle Analyst V3 preview and first beta release

When i use the AUX input or brake switch , i short the input pin to zero, and everything works fine but i notice the screen dims is this normal ? or do i need to put some resistor between ground and the input pin as its loading the internal 5v reg too much ?

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

saveing is actually quite a lot ! that's like 10% ! The 10% reduction you mention is for bearing friction and that is only a small part of the total loss of energy in these systems. So your argument is lacking any accountability as for where the rest of the energy losses arise. Hence the statement ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Postby DingusMcGee » Tue Nov 01, 2016 3:01 am Alex07, I have both C-3000's and a LRSmB. Mr Lightning Rods at the time of my Sm Block purchase did not have much of any provision or useful advise as to how to mount his "plug and play' kit onto the approx 100mm Specialized PF 30 BB. The now 180 pages ...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

The premium for ceramic bearings is high then, and their advantages, while looking promising in an ideal world, appear to stack up much less in the demanding environment that a bicycle is expected to perform and survive in Hi Dingus thanks for the link, that article sums up pretty well that ceramic...

Re: help me chose a motor for my electrathon racer

So, just comparing peak efficiency for simplicity sake, the Astro 3220 4t at 4 pounds and 93.45% and the MidMonster 25.5 pounds and 95.34%. Peak efficiency is less relevant then the power this efficiency occurs at, Astro motors have inherent low torque and hence low power 1250w at low RPM where thi...

Re: What kit to choose?

why you didn't choose a Bafang BBSHD
The bafang is heavier and a lot more expensive than the cyclone , and it has the crap internal controller and PAS no throttle only being some of the reasons why the bafang is not as popular a choice as the cyclone.

Actually many do choose less expensive cars, which is why Hyundai and Kia are so popular. i always amazes me how small and yet powerful those little motors are. if you look at them the look like tiny wimpy 200w motors. if you get stopped by our law enforcement group, and they look at those motors, they let you ride on thinking: poor guy. little motors, no power ;) The motors maybe small...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

We already know what's wrong with the Cyclone, and we have relatively inexpensive fixes available. For someone that's brand new to the Cyclone, has loads money, and doesn't want to get their hands dirty (really?), the AFT kit might be for them, but for us DIYers, the "stock" Cyclone is just fine Yo...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

I like the Luna kit because it comes with black brackets. If you choose the ISIS crank arms, they are black as well. My brackets are raw aluminum, and I tried to paint them black, but the paint comes off once in a while. Other than that, they are fairly similar, with the exception of the $1000+ AFT...

Re: new cyclone 3000 w mid-drive kit?

Luna, SBP, cyclone
They look to be all the Same its cheaper to just get direct from Cyclone most times. The only one that is improved for reliability it seems is the AFT c3000w with the stronger brackets , kelly controller and ceramic bearings etc.

So from the video i can see the full throttle no load power consumption with the wheel off the ground is about 1000w at 72v with the FOC phaserunner ? what gear was that ?

Out of interest what is it with this same test at stock 48v ?

[quote]Stop it at 4.1v then reset. Just dont go over 4.2v.[/quote The tricky part is whilst you are charging its hard to know what the battery voltage is.. as on the charger its 43v.. so the only way to know is to stop the charge and measure and then go back. and recheck. but this is tricky and time...

Charging above 4.2v a cell during start of charge

I have an adjustable cc cv power supply, I noticed I can put in a lot more amps quickly if I set the charger to 4.3v a cell at the start of the charge till near the end.. and then neat 4.15 then I reduce down to 4.18 v a cell. is this safe so as long as I stay under the max charge C crate and also s...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

You can't compare the life of the cyclone to the AFT cyclone, they have upgraded all the bearings and gears to better materials so it's not a surprise the life is so long, these are the main wearing parts on a brushless motor after all. Also I think they use the Kelly controllers that are also more ...

Re: Mini Cyclone on carbon full suspension

Nice build with the C3000w ! if you mounted the motor under the frame then you could fit the battery in the frame and have it off your back ? what is the total weight of the bike now ? what voltage and current do you run peak ? And does that carbon frame have any flex of the rear swing arm issues wi...
