Re: Hi power inverter for Nissan leaf motor. Dyno's 302.3hp p15

Ugh, I'm sorry if that came the wrong way at that time. If you ever would like to give this hardware a try I'd happy to give you a walk through the coding workflow, at least the workflow I use which of course may not be the best. The code is not ready to support paid options as it hasn't been a prio...

Re: Hi power inverter for Nissan leaf motor. Dyno's 302.3hp p15

I think I asked Lebowski if he wanted to try his algorithms in our board, but we code in C and he codes in assembler.
I agree it would be cool, and we also have the fpga available for custom functionalities that he could monetize as optional features.

Re: Hi power inverter for Nissan leaf motor. Dyno's 302.3hp p15

Its conceptually the same as KV (rpm per volt). It spins the motor and measure BEMF to calculate it. KV and mWb only differ by a conversion constant.

I also watch batteries ... I realized one thing if you maky it yourself it will be very expensive (battery pack) ... but i found battery pack is really cheap from ( Kia Optima Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Battery ) ... cost approximately 350-500$ Yes, keep watching. Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

You want to know exactly which enclosure you are going to use, with exact dimensions, 3D model, availability, and cost, and make sure you include the post-processing it needs for connector cutouts. This process can unveil some challenges I see like how to expose the JST connectors, or how to screw t...

Re: Axiom: a 100kW+ motor controller

There are no pullups in the schematic for the HALL sensors. Maybe your sensors are open drain and need that? The overvoltage is on purpose, its there so you can't use the default mcconf hardcoded in the firmware. Go to general->advanced and set up a reasonable max input voltage for your system, and ...

Re: BESC - beefed up VESC motor controller for high power ebikes

I second zombiess, his suggestion is a proven part, the TI chip doesnt cover short circuit protection, and zombiess/highhopes thread is something you should read and be very aware of. You may want to keep your gate driver selection, but at least you should make it go through the same level of testin...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

4 layers has several benefits. I'm used to low volume runs and a good 2 layer layout takes like 10 times more than a good 4 layer layout, this is a win in both engineering cost and time to market. Its just simpler to route, and saves yourself headaches when you have to go through an EMC chamber. I h...

Re: VESC controller: Check Axiom datasheet!

what do you think when we can start use IPM motor ... You can give it a try anytime without Max Torque Per Amp. The motor should spin, it just doesn't use the reluctance torque. If you feel brave you can build the VESC Tool guI and use a firmware built with MTPA support from the testing branch. I c...

Hey, really cool project. I want to build one myself also, for slightli lower power, 150V/200A (mayby change a bit (use fets instead of igbts, slightliy different layout, etc)). Should I follow the "paltatech" design, thats ~2 years old? Seems like it has already been replaced with newer "axiom" fi...

Re: Serious FOCer (84V VESC 6 based controller)

You can use LTSpice program to simulate. It's free of charge. You can check power, temps, voltages, currents, oscillations, so on. It's almost impossible to design electronics without simulation if you are not highly experienced engeneer which will take a long way without simulation. You are asking...

I'd like to discuss qoutes on double pulse testing some of my controllers. Is that more suited for PM? Yes, PM me. Re: VESC controller: Check Axiom datasheet!

Hi Stan, that's a rather small module, the control board will look giant near it. If you figure out a way to install the 3 current sensors, the DC link and the gate driver connections it should work. It looks like a lot of work for only 100A, but if you are going for lethal voltages I don't think th...

Re: VESC controller: Check Axiom datasheet!

Wow, congrats Hackey!! Are you using motor position feedback (hall/resolver) or is it sensorless? Here are a few comments: I'm not entirely sure but in the video it looks like the connection between DC Link and IGBTs is not short, and I think one of the IGBT is much further away from the dc link. And my igbt temperature is showing 140c while its very cold to touch. And fault code ( HIGH_OFFSET_CURRENT_SENSOR_2) I am using 0.00083240 as current sensor gain. Your igbt tenperature sensors are not connected so you shouldn't care about that. If it trips a fault and prevents you running the motor...

I am using same gate drivers you used. How can i supply 16v to board can i use seperate buck boost converter for this.
Set R74 to 110kohm for 15V operation.

Beware your ESD countermeasures, its unlikely that digikey will send you a damaged part.

Hey marcos

Please have a look at these driver board and update if i can use this.

http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/sllu207a/sllu207a.pdf
Its a good chip but the eval board lacks the isolated DC/DC to send power across the isolation.
