Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

Gotta say besides all the crafty machine work you've done on the bike I also really like the nice purple color, I like purple! Always wanted a frame about that color, closest I ever came is a nice metallic midnight blue. Too many silver and especially matte black frames being produced lately, to me...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

Gotcha! My mistake. Yes FedEx sucks big time in my experience. Rungs below USPS and UPS. Damn, I made a tiny oversight in my complaint just now: The expected delivery time window for my new spokes opened YESTERDAY. So, they WERE paid for it already! But they have until the 8th before they're offici...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

I will add one thing after looking at your wheel lacing more closely. The "heads out" spokes 3-cross pattern should be 'under/under/over'. [...snip...] it appears that your spokes don't follow that pattern. Yes, and that was intentional because it was only a "mock up." Remember,...

Re: Amsterdam has Beer Bikes - who knew?!

Not anymore, they just got banned as of 1 November (today) in Amsterdam... ...What I read - an English version - was that they were only banned from the city center; they're still permitted elsewhere. I would presume that the vehicle is rented and that the driver is NOT permitted to be drinking! So...

Amsterdam has Beer Bikes - who knew?!

...I was reading a BBC article on the web and this caught my eye: https://ichef-1.bbci.co.uk/news/904/cpsprodpb/F97A/production/_98566836_beerbikesnew.jpg Looks like it sports 12 seated pedalers and at least three seated freeloaders, though the driver may not be so much free loading as just freed fr...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

Still waiting on spokes, so I proceeded to complete the front derailleur installation. The issue was / is that the TSDZ2 moves the chainline so far outboard, I couldn't find any derailleurs that would go that far, mostly because the manufacturers don't generally market front derailleurs by publishin...

My problem is with the VLCD-5 display, I cant get into the hidden setup menue, yes i know you press the start button and the "I" button together for 3 secs but nothing happens so i cant change the wheel size or get out of kilometers(whats a kilometer  lol) or turn off the speed limi...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

HiYa :D Been lurking this thread for some time and finally joined ES after i splashed out on the 350w version of the TSDZ2. I went with a deal from PSW Power which included the brake levers and the throttle(which i don't intend to use) and the VLCD-5 display, The brake levers i wanted because i don...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

Thanks guys! These are great tips! Looks good! And you're test driving it way sooner than I thought you would! Good Job! What does Raine think of it? ...What are those verticals for adjacent to the seat? An awning? ... A little far forward for that methinks... And, I'm guessing you're going to make an enclosed box below the seat, yes?

Trying for a week to just get a price on the PAS sensor from Speedict, but they won't give me a price . ...If you're not giving people prices for the products, virtually nobody is going to place an order! I guess Danny wasn't kidding when he said they were considering pulling the MARS product. -shr...

More progress on the San Rafael's lamps and electrical accessories: I got the switch cluster and installed it. Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

Those tyre liners cause more punctures than they save. My advice is to get a pair of Schwalber Marathon Plus tyres and wave goodbye to punctures. Well, on my very first trip out with these Rebena tires, a trip of less than 3 miles, I got a flat caused by a super-small bit if wire. Frankly, I was sh...

Re: Amberwolf's Raine Trike

Bravo! Now that it's apart, perhaps plan a re-assembly strategy that avoids that castellated nut. Of course, you already know that the bearing's number should be on either race, and you can easily get an identical bearing based on that number. Perhaps it's worth while to get that number ASAP, while ...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

So... The parts have been accumulating... The brake / tail / license light assembly is very bright, but smaller than I imagined. At first I thought it was false advertising but then I measured it. THEN I compared it with the bike and it'll fit either of my two e-bike's luggage racks just fine. Will ...

Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

IIRC, you can use anything as a cadence sensor, including a normal PAS. The Speedict just counts the pulses. You tell it how many pulses per turn. The speed sensor works exactly the same. What's a "normal PAS"? Note that I'm a TSDZ2 rider... My bikes have a torque sensor inside them. The ...

Re: Marin San Rafael Euro frame-up TSDZ2 powered build

I'm preparing to add significantly to this bike, all related to the electrical system! 1) I'm going to EITHER go with the Speedict Mars product OR the Cycle Analyst v3 (for monitoring purposes only). And; 2) I'm going to add a 12v step-down transformer mounted to the luggage rack next to the battery...

Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

I was seriously thinking of a Neptune 15 for my new pack, mostly for the adjustable BMS functions. What are the issues you've seen? Normally I research a lot before I go for a product, but it's hard to find real user testimonials about the Neptune 15 Agreed, there's not much out there about it. But...

Sorry to hear all that, hope it improves soon. FWIW, I'm pretty sure my leg is not healing right and it's keeping me up through much of the night. I get to sleep OK, then wake around 1 to 2 AM or so and lay there in pain until maybe 5 or 6 when I finally get a few more hours and get up at 9 to 9:30 ...

Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

That's one thing I can say good about Speedict, they responded to each and every one of my e-mails. They did have forums on their site, but I literally had the only posts there. The forums magically disappeared (I assume) once people started having issues with the Neptune 15. I agree; it was nice t...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

After much frustration trying to get information on reprogramming the TSDZ2 I am now thinking about bypassing the TSDZ2 controller entirely and going with a CA3/Grinfineon solution. This will give total control over the motor and hopefully still keep cool TSDZ2 features like torque sensing and coas...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I'm planning to add a monitoring system to my TSDZ2 bike(s) and would like some input. One key thing I want to do is correlate cadence data with power consumption and voltage. I'd like to help answer the deeper TSDZ2 questions about cadence - we've all seen the questions in this thread! A week or so...

Good reply. Just a few points... mostly I'm just using runny oils that can help lubricate and cool the bit and surface, so that it's less likely to unharden things when I cant' keep things from heating up. ...That lubrication effect is usually harmful to your effort to drill through steels. Re: Speedict Ebike - Anybody seen/tried this?

I've used the Speedict Mercury on many bikes to get data about speed, power, current, voltage, etc. Those functions always worked perfectly, though in the beginning there were some software activation issues IIRC. The other functions, like speed limiting and throttle adjustment were not that good, ...
