Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Please post more pics as you progress, very cool modification! So there are a few blank spots there for some additional cells? :) No. Amongst the 5 cell holders, only the lower one has 2 empty slots. There are 16 cells per holder. 4 * 16 + 14 = 78 cells. As per Ivy, the 52V version in the same casin...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

thinking about battery and bad connections inside there, could that be a possible and explain these "speed boosts"? Or how does your bike go with only throttle? From your video it doesn’t look like a connection issue. If it was, it would be happening randomly, and more so at higher speeds because o...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

Or should I test to change throttle handle mode speed to "current" ? Yes, change it to Current mode. It's much smoother. You can also try to lower start and increase end voltages to better match your specific throttle model response. Try 1 by 1 mv until you get something that doesn't work anymore a...

battery disassembly day. Still applying the famous Australian motto "Don't turn it on, take it apart" Doing so mostly because I'm changing the BMS for a speedict neptune 15 ( a very cool piece of kit ) but also to check the assembly for potential issues... So this is the 48V 21Ah model, 13...

big +1, bafang really improved the throttle sensitivity levels vs the BBS02B

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I find Boeshield to never insulate. boeshield is an oil / spray stuff right ? it's much thinner than silicone grease and that might well be why it's working. One could also use noalox antioxydant paste. It's a non-insulating anti-corrosion grease made for aluminium & cooper electrical connections. ...

Re: Bafang BBSxx - fault finding and fixes

I had some dielectric grease, but this did not help. How should one apply dielectric grease? I think i used to much. Hard to tell from the picture, but It looks like the negative contact arced hard or often enough to vaporize the metal and deposit carbon (soot-like) inside the neg. post. And it see...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

There is a connection inside the motor housing. It's possible if the wire got pulled or just from vibration it may have partially unplugged itself. unlikely. If he has a recent (V1.5) motor, the EBUS connector is so close to the next one that it's locking tab is blocked. It can go in but is very ha...

I can't contact either. She can't be far, I got a message from her yesterday too. And I have serious problems with the rear wheel. My core and the axis are destroyed. Sorry guys, don't want to go too much off-topic here. But I just received another Bafang Ultra wich I bought of Aliexpress from a "reliable" company. Price was quite good. It arrived today and I opened it up immediately to compare it with my Luna Ludicrous version. The Ludicrous is a 1.3 version an...

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

The shims should work if you get the right size. Thudbuster seat posts have the same issue. There are so many sizes of seat tubes out there it's hard to fit them all. I use shims with my Thudbuster and it's rock solid. They will, but here it's not a post issue, it's a frame spec one. First frame re...

nice & simple light hack ! question for those who installed a dropper / changed the post. How was the fitting in the downtube ? Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

my 2 cts: commuting at ebike speeds on an hardtail can be done but potholes and rough roads are more than a discomfort. suspension seatposts and wide, low pressure tires do help but when you roll over a bad pothole at 40+ kph you understand why all other 2-wheel motor vehicles have rear suspensions....

Re: My Bafang Ultra Mountain Bike! Frey AM1000

reduce the use of the 11T sprocket which has a very hard time handling non-human power. Exactly why the EX-1 is worth the upgrade IMHO - my understanding is it is designed to shift under power and built for power use. My ICE powered bike is a jackshaft setup, so also uses chain drive like a mid eng...

My opinion, since your use for street commuters, Hard tail plus a nice back rack is much suitable. Tyre Schwalbe Super Moto-X wheel size 27.5' 2.8'. This tyre was build for Ebike on speed 50km/h or 31miles/hr. It suitable for Road and Tarmac purpose. +1. Unless you have extremely steep hills in you...

And there is some slight gap between battery and the holder, we put one 2 piece of 3M gel to make it holder better and no move. it will be more stable then.
this is a good idea, but it's only a temporary fix. The gel will get compressed over time and at some point the issues will come back.

Some more remarks about the frame (might not be the last, i'm reviewing every single mm of the frame before doing the final assembly). Rear disc mounting posts: Not faced. Heavy paint globs on them. Frey, Headset bearing races were installed dry. No grease. This is bad practice. They will be very hard / impossible to remove once corroded. Also, the head tube was not faced, nor reamed --> dimensional tolerances are all over the place. Upper tube inner diameter varies 43.5 to 44.5mm. This is a lo...

There is no room to pull the anderson power connectors out once the cover plate over the motor is removed from the frame. Looks like I am going to have to drop the motor out to get at the power cables. The motor to frame bolts are extremely tight and blue loctited. Going to need the heat gun and 1/...
