Re: The F3: I'm on Fire!

Making electronics tough enough for ebikes is not easy. Indeed. This setup has been on the bike, untouched mostly for at least a year. Lots of rain, road salt, vibration over the many days and miles in between... Was there a main fuse or breaker? I use a detachable link (pictured below) as the ulti...

Re: The F3: I'm on Fire!

Including my girlfriend's hybrid, pedal only bike, the folding IGH bike I bought my daughter (that she never uses) and my bikes, I have 6 steeds at my disposal. 2 are electric (in my signature). This bike is my mainstay. Including my old panel van and ICE scooter, this is the vehicle I spend the mos...

Re: Unboxing thread - KITTAZ-4 3d Printer Kit

Yeah, me too; MattyCii, nechaus, and many others have been cranking out great stuff for a long time, hope I can do as well as they have.   I still battle with my 'bot regularly. Needed some replacement parts for my "MK 6" extruder, but none available. Took a leap of faith and bought a "MK 8" (for l...

By the way, the spring that failed is a 27mm diameter ring (1 & 1/16") made of 0.57mm (0.0225mm) diameter wire.

Re: The F3: I've been blogged!

What's new? Freewheels. New freewheels. Recently my freewheel failed, I was pedaling, and when I put power to the pedals, the cranks spun a lot before the freewheel engaged. This happened for a few miles, and got worse until I could spin the pedals all day and not get the pedal drive to engage. Clas...

Re: The F3: I've been blogged!

cwah, I didn't have time to take any pix, but I was able to measure the stock Dahon steerer tube with calipers this morning. The dimensions are: 1.125" diameter 5.55" length, from the top of the crown to the top of the tube where the threaded nut is inserted. So, I'd say it's safe to buy a 1 & 1/8th...

Is that a CAv3 on the handlebars? If so epoxy a 10k thermistor to the circuit board (on one of the FETs? Where's the best place?) and wire it into the CA. The CAv3 can be set up to automatically throttle back power as temp rises (intended for temp probe inside a motor, but it should work just as go...

Using Windows 7 professional (32 bit) service pack 1, the app runs in that I can choose the CA file and the GPS file, and "Generate". It creates a 0 kb KMZ file. Then nothing happens, even after running for an hour on a < 1MB file. https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-v1JeTkhw5hg/U1CMSFoFJvI/AAAAAAAAE...

I like the idea, and I like the tool you're using. I just added an idea "power cutoff integrated into brakes". Kind of a no-brainer, but added just to practice using the tool.

Show them love and kindness in return. There can never be a better alternative. Re: Help me find a crazy torque commuter bike

My experience (Having a Dahon Jetstream with crazy torque): The geometry is not well suited to massive torque, and it will flip you over backwards onto your back and head. The mechanical solution is to extend the wheel base rearward, but the more you do that the harder time you have getting it into ...
