Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Thank you so much for your reply and time. I tested my preferred cadence this morning and I think I will go with the 48V. In regards to gearing I haven't really thought of the option to do singlespeed. You're welcome. I hadn't thought of single-speed either. But replying to your post got me looking...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Hi. your problem is likely the sensor speed. look at the installation of the magnet on the spokes. install it exactly. distance from the magnet to the sensor must be a little. Yes. The distance can't be too close or too far. About 5mm works well. You can rotate the sensor on your chainstay to adjus...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I mentioned the SRAM DDS3-24. But I've become aware of a better option. Sturmey Archer makes an IGH 3 speed that takes 8-9 speed casettes also. Much stronger and probably better parts availability than SRAM. http://www.sturmey-archer.com/en/products/detail/cs-rk3-silver These IGH + freewheel system...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I'm about to start a 2-wheel cargo build (Bullit-style Longjohn but in steel), and have a few questions. I understand theres quite a few variables concerning which motor to buy, and I have a hard time getting my head around it. I already have a BBS02 48V 750W system on a different cargo bike, so I ...

Re: TSDZ2 mid drive -- Flexible OpenSource firmware for TongSheng TSDZ2 mid drive motor

I think you could close the KT-LCD3 and focus on color LCD, because it has much more memory so will be possible to add much more features with the advantage that will be easier for user to understand all that fields, since we can custom label each field. This is just an idea because I think using t...

Re: Open Source Firmware Tutorial

A lot of people, including me, found upgrading to open source firmware difficult, because the information is spread out over two threads with over 200 pages between them. I also needed the excellent github information and jbalat's videos, and those resources weren't immediately clear to me as I wen...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Question about 14S2P battery Current draw 14A for 30minutes(0,5hours) so 14 x 0,5 = 7Ah 14S2P battery will have cell temp around 50degreesC , Can the motor handle constant 14A for 30 minutes ? So when not riding like a madman , 14S2P should be more than enough , without overheating the battery. Bec...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

In a given gear combo cadence is indeed indicative of MPH. You need to know your tire diameter and your gears to figure gear inches or use gear ratios to calculate this out. Pick your gear inches for the speed and cadence you want ride. Easy peasy. The built in 28 mph speed limit sets the parameter...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The open source firmware is great if you like a lot of information on your screen and a lot of options for configuration (I love stuff like that). On the other hand, purely functionally, the stock firmware is quite good. Don't expect the open source firmware to give a radically better riding experi...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Strider you can use any firmware you want. I went with what the vendor recommended to get this thing up and running and it seems to work just fine. You could always change over to the open source stuff later. I haven't looked into it yet but I assume it provides more tunability and I will probably ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

The vendors are selling "overdrive" versions that assist up to 100 or 110 RPM. I am not sure if those are different hardware or if that is also settable in the firmware. There is no upcharge for these models so I assume it is just firmware and that those settings are in there somewhere. Nope. Overd...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

1) What is the difference between 52v and 52v O/D (overdrive)? According to the below table the cadans is much higher on the 52v O/D version. Is 52v O/D a battery with a higher voltage? On the google drive i also only see files for 52v, i don't see .hex files for 52v O/D. http://i64.tinypic.com/p9h...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

With the normal software the TSDZ2 stops assisting at a cadence of about 90 Pedal RPM's. From what I've learned in this topic is that with the open source software the TSDZ2 will support above 90 RPM. Is that correct? Partially correct. The newest v18 has an option but i don't think it is fully tes...

Open Source Firmware Tutorial v1

I think your first sentence may be wrong though as I believe the 6 pin VLCD 5 does have brake inputs and the only difference between the 8 and 6 pin versions is that the 8 pin version has an external throughput for a throttle down the two extra wires. Thanks, I'll revise. Since I have 8-pin that's ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I adapted an offset Bafang style 46t chain ring to the TSDZ2 spider to improve my chainline. unnamed-2.jpg It has to be a 46t though to make it over the reduction gear housing and you have to be precise shimming it as too close in will scrub the plastic cover. Made a big difference in chain life as...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

High quality steel frames work. I built mine on a Trek Reynolds 531 touring frame. Taste varies but I think the old lugged frames look and ride great, nicer than most aluminum frames. As for weight ebikes weigh more, but it matters less because the motor is stronger than the rider. How important is...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Question for my fellow TSDZ2 owners... The main motor power wires that come out of the housing seem very small gauge to me, like maybe 16 ga, for 750 max watts and the corresponding amps. I am running 12 ga wire from the battery but not sure of the value in that considering the downstream 16 ga. Ar...
