Re: Cushman based build

With the 3.5:1 ( more or less) rear end reduction, that parking brake disc is spinning at the equivalent speed of 140 MPH wheen I am doing 40 MPH at the wheel. I think the vibration is coming from the parking brake disc. it is definately not 100% true, more of a wobble than runout, but maybe some vi...

Re: Cushman based build

Still looking good. I finally removed the transmission on mine and went straight from the motor to the driveshaft. I am still getting bad vibrations above 30 MPH. Some of it I know is coming from the tires not being balanced, because when I remove them the vibrations are less. But I think I also nee...

American made aircraft remain 100% Impereal. I don't have a single metric tool at work, but plenty at home.

See if you had any updates.

By the way the h is missing in Cushman in the title, that would make someone searching for a cushman to not find it.

Re: 17 Inch Moto Wheels - 150 Bux per set!

found a IRC GP-1 Dual Sport Rear Tire that comes in a 3.5-17, but is a bit pricey at $85. Think that would fit?

Re: 17 Inch Moto Wheels - 150 Bux per set!

Steve,

Do you think I could fit a 3.0-17 dual sport tire onto these. http://www.motorcycle-superstore.com/11 ... -Tire.aspx

I am thinking about an electric trials bike and want as fat a tire as I can force onto it.

Re: 17 Inch Moto Wheels - 150 Bux per set!

I have a few things in mind, but I want to try it on my electrathon racer. It is a 3 wheeler that takes a lot of abuse due to all the lateral loads. I break spokes on the rear single wheel on a regular basis and am hoping one of yours will fix that, as these are uber strong wheels. I also love runni...

Nice thread. Somehow I missed this. I love that you are converting to disc brakes. I wish mine had them.

Keep up the great work, what I have seen so far is amazing, makes me jealous.

A hammer and a pin punch, with a small 1/4" or so socket on the other side to support the chain makes a great chain breaker. If you dont care about the chain then you can use a grinder to make it easier.

Re: Project Velobration: The Common Power Module

1. I enjoy the hobby aspect of e-biking, as well as the riding, and I'm learning a heck of a lot with this project. So, the complexity inherent in this design is a good thing - a challenge to overcome, requiring me to learn new tools and techniques. Now there is a great reason. I have done many thi...

Re: Project Velobration: The Common Power Module

If you are not going to run the motor through the nuvinci, what is the reason for using it as a jackshaft and not as a hub? Seams like extra complexity for no gain.

Re: Electrathons (with video)

Actually the season just ended, here in Florida we race through the school year as the promoters are all public teachers and a lot of high school teams compete. We did well but not great, a few of the adult teams have really stepped up their game this year, we had two DNFs when welds let loose after...

Re: "Da bomb" cargo bike + Transmag 3kW / MAC 2kW / HS3548

I used relatively thick steel tubes for mine, plus if you look at it, it is a triangle, though stretched.

Why do you want a jackshaft? I run mine with single reduction, less complication, less noise.

Thanks for the motor porn. I didn't have the heart to take mine apart. Looks like there is plenty of room to rewind with more copper if you are so inclined

Re: Cushman 3 wheeled Truckster conversion Build Log

Burner1, you got a nice looking Haulster there. The transmission is totally unneeded. It was the easiest way for me to adapt the motor, and retain the emergency brake. I did remove the clutch, totally unnecesary. If you have the skills and the time direct to the driveshaft is the way to go. My top s...

There are no brushed motors that I know of, however I was running an Rtek on a bike and found it to be a bit too much.

This brushless motor http://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewto ... 31&t=44058 has been working well for me, running on a $100 greenttime 18FET controller

Re: Any ideas for activating the sensors on a stop light?

You can also call your local traffic department and give them the info on which lights wont activate and they will go out and make them more sensative.
