Re: 60 volt vs 72 volt

I would not bet on any differences in motor efficiency helping your range significantly, and I would bet your motor has comparable efficiency already. My bike and my wife's bike have the same 52v 21ah battery. Her controller pulls 26 amps, and the motor is 25mm wide 0.35mm laminations, I believe a ...

Re: 60 volt vs 72 volt

This topic, with the relationship between KV and battery pack voltage has been on my mind as well. Here is a simulator setup matching what you describe 52 vs 72 volts, with no difference in range. Reading Justin's comment on this old thread however would have you believe that the higher voltage wast...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Bummer! I two have the same BMS in the 60A model, and no problems so far. I do check in on the cell group voltages every couple weeks, which was my main purpose in buying a smart BMS. I've read that you can try to bring the cells back to life with very low current manual charging. You'd probably nee...

Re: My econo-e-bike

I'd love to have any sort of regen, and always planned that if I were to upgrade controllers, I'd get one with variable regen like the phaserunner. I already use a left and right throttle to avoid thumb fatigue, so I might need to add a half twist or something for braking. I have one more trick I wa...

I'm glad shifting gears is fun! So the motor doesn't force your pedals to spin? Look forward to seeing how the drivetrain holds up.

Re: bluetooth BMS?

Probably the balance wire of group 10 broke. Did you measure the voltages directly at the cell groups, instead of at the balance wires?

Re: Who here rides with the Cow Horn style handlebars?

Those https://endless-sphere.com/forums/download/file.php?id=259444 that I don't recall the name of, are essentially what I use on SB Cruiser and CrazyBike2, but they are used in a completely different position, and work perfectly for these rides, except the grip area is more "vertical" (more paral...

Re: High performance & durability Cannondale Semi Recumbent

Good work, and I really hope the biking doesn't hurt for much longer. For what it's worth, I met my wife on eharmony. This was before the age of swipe right apps, and trying match.com beforehand just seemed like people looking for hookups. It seemed to me that the added expense of eharmony helped fi...

Re: 1st ebike. Yescomusa battery/controller options

I have a similar motor kit on my wife's bike with no problems so far. The LCD with your kit will be nice to see the speed and other data without a separate device. Without regen, I don't use a torque arm on her steel bike, and it hasn't widened the dropouts at all. I'm glad you got a 52v battery fro...

If you have a smart BMS with the ability to turn the FET's on and off, you can use any connector you'd like without the problem of sparking.

Re: Battery issue? :(

It sounds like you have a way to monitor pack voltage while riding, so you should be able to determine how many volts the pack sags via full throttle on a full charge. Re-reading the original post, I guess if the bike is run at full throttle, the voltage will keep sagging to 72 volts, where protect...

My bike is an aluminum frame with v-brakes as well. I did happen to get an upgraded suspension fork that came with a disk brake mount, but only because the original fork was garbage. You'll be fine for now, and you can always put it back to stock if you need to.

Re: Fast Ebike for a tough commute

That's a bit too far for me :P Note that with a mean speed hovering around 30 mph, his average speed is still only 23 mph given and other delays. Indeed, thank you for pointing that out. Overall, it hasn't been bad, typically a 45 minute drive or 52 minute ride. On the last ride, I picked a car out ...

Re: Fast Ebike for a tough commute

I ride the 20 miles to work sometimes, and on both my bike and my wife's bike I drain the 1000wh battery each way maintaining about 30mph. If you want a 40mph top speed on level ground with an upright bike, you're going to need a 2000wh battery to go 34 miles at 30+mph. Thankfully you will contribut...

Is that your velomobile Toecutter? If so, do you have a build thread?

I don't mean to clog up this thread, but I've been searching for a while to find out whether any triple front derailleur can be set up with a chainring larger than 53T, and that one is 65!

I may have over corrected on the StefEbike with the North Road Handlebar , and might try this Mid-Rise Handlebar sometime. I always thought that replacing the grip shifters with trigger/index shifters would make more room for throttle and brakes, but the trigger brifters that came with my recumbent ...

Re: Considering using a Trek Verve 4 for conversion?

I've never done a mid-drive, but the bike is similar to mine in the signature. I ride exclusively on roads and bike trails made of small crushed gravel. You'll probably want the widest and most durable 622mm (700c) tire that you can fit in the frame. I did Schwalbe Marathon Cross 40-622 (700x38C), b...
