Re: wiring SNAFU (or short between the earlobes)?

Both of my basic motor controllers spark when first connected to the battery. It's just inrush current to fill up the capacitors inside the controller. XT90 anti-spark connectors have a resistor built in to slowly charge the capacitors at first, and then make sure the connector is fully engaged to b...

Re: bluetooth BMS?

For the record, both of my bikes using this 14s smart BMS barely drained at all over the winter, and I did nothing special with them. I still connected bluetooth to them once in a while to make sure the voltage wasn't getting low, and they weren't. I've noticed that when bluetooth is connected to my...

Re: Battery Consumption

Amazon minions are spying on me, got a email suggesting this battery. What do you think? Could/Would I need to purchase the BMS aswell? https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GNDXDXR?ref=em_1p_1_ti&ref_=pe_945280_408226810&th=1&psc=1 Did you look at the title and pictures? Re: Battery Consumption

Concerned I have done damage to the battery. Trying to take too much from it at a time. And your right, considering the speeds its not terrible. But hoped for more... Seriously considering getting tools together to build my own pack. If I was in your situation, I would open the battery myself and c...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

On the controller, I can see a pad on the board marked "EBS" with no wire attached. It may actually be capable of regen but just doen't have the wires hooked up. The layout looks like the typical "Infineon" style, but hard to say based on just the looks. So I finally tried out the EBS pad on my bik...

Re: Battery Consumption

If that chinese battery has it's BMS programmed and functioning correctly, you shouldn't really be able to damage it. Can you go over again the series of events that you are saying was problematic? It isn't very clear. 21.7 mile range and 39.7mph peak speeds sounds ok to me.

Re: Giant Trance X1 build for MAX range

I wish I had a phaserunner. I just have two affordable affordable conversion kits, neither of which have I been successful with enabling regen yet. I was just reading the phaserunner manual in consideration for a car loan or two being paid off. I actually just tested a pad on my controllers circuit ...

Awesome giant battery! Look forward to seeing the range. What was the reason you don't use a DC-DC converter for the 12 volt accessories again?

Are your pictures already hosted on a web server? I think some people host them directly on endless-sphere.com but I haven't looked into that.

Re: Battery Consumption

I have the same ebikeling kit, but with the sw900 lcd display. When the battery pack voltage starts to get low, the controller will start limiting amps, which gets to be very noticeable the further you go. Also in my opinion the basic voltage based battery gauges aren't a linear gauge of battery cap...

Re: How to enable regen? Infineon XC846 Controller, SW900 display.

Ever try regen on that EBS pad yet? That board is the same that came in my ebikeling controller. I added a wire to that EBS pad last year, but haven't taken the time to try connecting it to ground yet. I need to get on that... https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/llK8HjN24dG4KmmE97qqlLWcUIqAXVht9Yhm8Ob...

Re: Giant Trance X1 build for MAX range

I read in the Phaserunner manual, that it has a wire that can be separated for regen on a separate throttle for analog braking control. If you have any old throttles laying around, I thought that might be fun to try. Otherwise the front brake regen will probably be good enough.

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

Changed the StefEbike handlebar to a North Road style, and sacrificed the placement of the rear shifter to make the throttle more comfortable. I'd like to switch both bikes to trigger shifters and try twist throttles when funds aren't as tight. The wife likes the upright riding position, and less pr...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

My oldest nephew stayed at our house over the weekend. The weather was too nice on Sunday to not ride the trails! Unfortunately my wife was feeling under the weather yesterday. She dropped the three of us off at the trailhead and we rode ~20 miles home. My son enjoyed counting all the dogs he saw :)...

Play around with this simulator. Put the human power at 0, click simulate, then try different throttle percentages or grades. At the bottom pay attention to battery power, motor power, and efficiency.

Re: What Chainring/s is everyone running these days

The motor kit I bought for my wife's bike also only came with a 6-speed freewheel. The cheap included freewheels are also not cut for hyper glide, so shifting is pretty rough. I replaced it with an 11-28 DNP freewheel, which worked well enough I got one for my bike as well. My bike has 28-38-48 toot...

Good video evidence. I couldn't actually see any details before, I was just guessing/thinking in my head. I was wondering about the direction of carbon fiber for driveshafts, so thank you for the answer there. Good luck!

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

10,000 views on YouTube. I'm blown away. When I first posted it, I didn't expect it to get more than 100 views or so. Torsional rigidity then? Can you have anyone hold your bike upright, and you try to twist the trailer? Fixing torsional rigidity seems to be the low hanging fruit here so I'm going ...

Re: StefEbike for my wonderful disabled wife

I need to get updating this year! I did some maintenance for the season on both bikes, though my wife's StefEbike only needed about 10% of the work. Cleaned and lubed both chains, do people actually lube shifters and cables like the manual says? I only read about that yesterday, so I suppose it coul...

Re: Trailer travails

[*]The trailer's center of mass is too high? I need some room for suspension travel but there's room to lower the the boom. I think that's the main issue. The torsional axis of a one-wheeled trailer is a line between the hitch joint and the tire's contact patch. Mass located away from this line exe...
