I dont know the answer, but maybe you can find someting in one of the other sevcon threads?

I think that there are a pretty long one in the aircraft section too.

Finally some progress, I got a motor :D https://i.imgur.com/SnIH8Ur.jpg Eh, not really.. But I have a model of a motor  Haggan90 made quick progress when I gave him the go. Thanks a lot :thumb: I was trying to get it done locally first, and wasted a lot of time. Someone has a friend that can pr...

Nice to see you are still active galp
Does everything on vesc work on this controller, like MTPA and master/slave configuration?
Have you made progress on the version 3?

Re: Split phases and run dual controllers?
I should probably read those threads but isn’t it simply that an out of sync will allow one controller to short circuit through the other controllers fets? Means that it can never work as a concept other than by stroke of luck, for some time.. Well, that kind of sums it up. But it seems to be a lot...

An interesting thread on the subject of paralleling 2 controllers on the same windings:

And another, there is a link in the first one:

Re: Split phases and run dual controllers?
If I get this right he rode a motor with dual winds and dual controllers.
Still one blew when there was a sync issue?
https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewt ... 91#p321635
I dont really understand why, if it looses sync it just turn off the output right?
Does it die from back emf?

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers
Then you have a problem. For starters it dosent even reach your low protect value. Did you try no throttle and full throttle? Are you using a potetiometer throttle like domino or magura? In that case you probably need to add resitors in line with the + and - to get some offset. Otherwise your 0 thro...

c70r, thanks for the link, it was interesting :thumb: But I didnt see anything about vw in there? (I mean you said the seem to recommend GTE cells) larsb, Thanks. Re: Split phases and run dual controllers?
I am thinking about another possibility that would be very simple if it would work..
How about just connecting 2 controllers paralell?
As long as they are somewhat in sync I guess it would be ok?
If they for some reason is not in sync it might end bad I suppose..
Anyone with thoughts or experiance?

For me hall fault has always been throttle at least, but I have an older controller. What voltages do you get when you measure between signal and ground?

Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric
I dont have the same controller, I have SW 2,32 HW 1,13 I can save settings, as long as they are in range where there are limits. It seems like on these newer ones you do some adjustments on how the motor runs on the second value in sport mode flux-weakening. Maybe something in the second fw setting...

Re: Yamaha YZF250F
The golf cells are about 27x149x92mm, I think the passat cells are the same size. But the 92mm height is without connections so you will have to add at least 10mm. When calculating volume I think those measurements are more accurate. The leaf cells are so damn wide, I think I would only fit 2 of tho...

Re: Yamaha YZF250F
The modules are about 355x150x110mm. I would say it is difficult but not impossible to reconfigure them. The terminals are welded, but I think there are enough material to cut the bus bars in the middle and drill holes for a screw connection. It looks like the bus bars are aluminum, but I am not sur...

In the absence of a motor, that pretty much dictates where everything else goes I am pretty stuck. I got tired of trying to read up on controllers and had to do something else.. Re: Why limit battery current in a controller?
Well, that might be an answer. Or when controllers are sold in kits with hub motors they want higher phase amps to get good starting torque, but dont want the buyer to be able to go crazy with the battery amps and brake things. I am mostly interested in if those that have designed a controller, or h...

Re: PV NextGen FOC 130v 200/600A 25kw - $599, Watch Display
Any updates on the controller itself? How is the progress with the testing, is there still hw changes before it is ready to sell to the public? 2 of those would be interesting for my latest project if they are ready in a few months. Is it still 200bA and 400pA that you are testing? Is there a reason...

Re: Why limit battery current in a controller?
What I wonder is why do the manufacturer choose to set this limit? In general there is the equation battery amps = duty cycle * phase amps. So especially at low speeds, where the BEMF is low, the phase amps are much higher than the battery current as it needs only low low duty cycles to generate hi...

QS seems to think the em200 is ok now, and sells it. They say the em300 still have problems and dont want to sell that.
No personal experience with either one of them though.

Re: Why limit battery current in a controller?
When someone make a controller it has some hardware limits, lets say it has 24mosfets rated for 100V. The manufacturer decides that it can safely handle 88V and 450phaseA, so they set the overvoltage protection to 89V and max phase amp the user can set to 450. Then they decide to set the max battery...

Re: I'm looking for developers/engineers interested in high current (+1kA) controller development
This sure is interesting, as others have pointed out there are not many options at higher currents and lower voltages. There are motors, but it seems there are almost no controllers except for sevcon. I think lebowskys way is partly interesting. It sounds to me that a bunch of 6 fet controllers woul...

Re: Why limit battery current in a controller?
That dosent give a reason for the controller to have a limit that you cant go over. That is a reason to have a limit that the user can decide. My question is why many controllers have a max battery amp limit that often is a lot lower than the max allowable phase amp. Is it protecting the controller ...

Why limit battery current in a controller?
Many controllers have a battery current limit that is maybe half of the phase current. I wonder why? From what I understand the only current that matters is the phase current, that is what stress the mosfets? Some controllers have a battery current limit close to the phase current limit, like nucula...
