Re: Yamaha YZ250F

Nothing is decided yet, but I am looking at the qs 180 90h.
Qs recommends 750-850 phase amps, and 72-96V.
So I guess I should try to find a controller that can do 1000pA and 96V nominal in that case..

It would be nice with a 6 phase motor, and use dual controllers.

Re: ME1507 vs QS motors

I dont think there are much info available about the 180 motors, but you can find some around page 50 in the qs sales thread. Threads like this makes me doubt sevcon: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=109180 Interesting about golden motor: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/v...

Well, the connecting rod broke. I dont really know why so far. But first things first, checking weights: https://i.imgur.com/LEMHBG9.jpg https://i.imgur.com/YF0tkPm.jpg 49kg both front and rear. This is dry weght, no oil, no coolant and no fuel. Well, not even a chain. https://i.imgur.com/LYbcWTg.jp...

Re: Battery to battery charging

I have a nuc 24fet, (not on this bike) nice controller but not powerful enough.
It is a nice feature, but it heats up both motor and controller.
So not very good if you want to ride hard right after charging.

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Thank You. I will try to make the settings according to your recommendations. I would be grateful if you could show me how to activate the calibration mode and check the motor timing on the display screen. If you dont wan to wait you can look for it in the thread. It is already posted, I think it i...

Re: Battery to battery charging

Thanks fechter, that was the answer I was looking for.
I was mostly worried if there would be a problem with paralleling them.
They have fans, but it is probably a good idea to make a duct under the cooling fins and mount bigger ones.

Re: Chinese 125cc + Honda IMA motor

Yea, kind of, the original nominal voltage is 144V and the nominal pack voltage I have is 96V which is 2/3 of its original spec. But despite this it should produce the same torque up to the max RPM so it's a matter of final drive gear ratio. I can always rewind it of it's if it's wildly underpowere...

Re: No load motor, controller testing, runaway.

There is a way to adjust in the hidden menu to prevent runaway. I dont remember how, I havent had to adjust myself. The info is in the votol thread somewhere. I think it is in the first half, but not really in the beginning.
You can also set hdc to limit max rpm.

Re: Battery to battery charging

Figure cheap chinese DCDCs can only handle half of what even the fine print says, and order lots if spares. No mains anywhere around? (No, and if there are they are not available during practice.) No car with an old-fashioned alternator? (Sure, but to do what? Should I series connect a bunch of the...

Re: ME1507 vs QS motors

Very interesting :thumb: I will try not to hijack too much. From what it says on ME:s site ME1507 and 1616 is the same motor, only water or air cooled. Then they should be capable of the same output, but maybe not for the same time. Is that not the case? I think there is a thread here with a go cart...

Re: Battery to battery charging

As it is now the battery is not removable on the bike, and I dont have the cells to build an extra one atm anyway. I will have all the extra stuff in the car or on the trailer, so the plan is to take a 20-30 min brake (that I would probably do anyway) and in that time charge the battery. The bms can...

Battery to battery charging

I want to be able to do some fast charging out in the field when taking a brake, to be able to get an extra lap or two. I have 22s 50Ah on the bike, that I charge to 90V. The plan is to use a 12s 70Ah charged to around 49V to charge it with. I want to charge with up to 50A, or at least close to that...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Am I correct in my reading that these controllers only have on/off regen and there is no way to throttle the regen? Yes, you are correct. You can have some regen when you release the throttle also though. So you can have a weaker regen when you release the throttle, and a harder one on a button or ...

Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric

Do you mean in in the wires themself? It is more like 7V sag in total in battery, wiring, fuse, contactors and maybe part of the controller. (the numbers come from the controller) I dont know how much there actually are in the wires. But as it seems to made well below 1v difference to change from 16...

I've been looking for it for several days and I can't find how to activate Sport mode or regeneration. I know it is with a switch but that switch do I have to connect pin 15 with 0 volt or with 5V? Thanks I dont know without looking in the diagrams witch pins it is, but you ground to activate sport...

Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric

I did a test with the wheel in the air, so not really no load. It has a big tire lock, so it has its share of unbalance. I went from 2000 rpm to 8000, tested and wrote down the values. Then tested next rpm. 2000=3A 3000=4,8A 4000=7,3A 5000=10A 6000=14A 7000=20A 7500=24A 8000=30A At about 86V, after ...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

I wonder if it can be an issue with compatibility with your programming cables?

You dont have the ones that supplied with the controllers?
I dont know much about these things, but I think it is discussed early in this thread.

Re: KTM 200 exc goes electric

The primary goal was not more power, but to be able to pull high amps at low battery without hitting low volt limits. It has been raining more or less today too, but I couldent help but to do a little test anyway. I didnt go 0-100, I started at some speed. I dont think I went full throttle right awa...

Congrats to the test drive :)
It seems like it took some construction beer to get there, like it always does

It must be nice with threaded terminals on the cells, mine has welded terminals in different materials..
What is the shiny black material on the batteries and charge port etc.?

Re: Oil cooling a geared hub with transformer oil/dielectric fluid?

I dont know a lot of these things, but it seems unlikely that atf would damage the windings in a motor. There are a lot of solenoids and wiring in an automatic transmission. I am not sure if the solenoids are sealed so the fluid cant reach the winding, but I dont think that it is always the case. In...
