Re: Used Ebike from Craigslist - worth it?

okay, normal, DIY bike. but for 35mph, dont hesitate to go for a heavy build. at those speeds, weight does not matter as much as wind resistance for which a heavy or light bike matters little. also, even though your route is short, going 35 mph for a battery designed to go 15 miles is going to destr...

Re: Used Ebike from Craigslist - worth it?

yeh but if he wants a cleaner look then sur ron or cyclone-tw ebike would be a good choice. also, you can put road tires on the sur ron. if i had $3500, I would do 10kwH EV battery + 20kW motor + fat tires... somehow

Re: Used Ebike from Craigslist - worth it?

imo, no not for used, i would compare it to sur ron and cyclone tw ebikes (imported). http://www.cyclone-tw.com/ebike.html https://lunacycle.com/sur-ron-x-bike-black-edition/ obviously, that is his asking price but i would need it to be substantially lower otherwise i will go with new sur ron or imp...

Re: Thoughts on this donor bike, battery setup?

I mean do you know if it will fit 3x EV batteries that are 12x6x7. I can see one on top but would the other two fit inside. I can modify it. I can learn to weld. Just wondering if there is a sizable or niche market for massive range ebikes (legal and "off road"). either way, I want to do t...

Re: Thoughts on this donor bike, battery setup?

Which means your frame needs to be even stronger than you think. Strapping too much battery weight to ordinary bikes seldom works well. Its a lot of cargo weight, and often calls for cargo bikes. Ordinary frames seldom stiff enough from side to side. Wobble develops that limits speed to very slow r...

you can also work with leafbike to get what you need in terms of display and kit. leafbike is a reputable mainly ebike hub kit seller. https://www.leafbike.com/products/brushless-motor-controller/c-3/page-1.html pretty sure that is the led display you want; they also have an portrait one with a diff...

Re: Advice for a kit for a specific route

Looks solid to me. Good battery, DD motor with variable PAS which is probably what you want. I personally dont prefer full throttles but you dont need it. I did a study on my YT study about most economical ebike setup and speeds. IMO, it is 48V 1000W motor at 20-22mph in the USA. A geared hub motor ...

Re: EV/LTO Battery Build - LTO, EV, or Combo?

yeah, i agree with KISS. but i want something truly cool. lto is so cool and also safer... but the used ev battery market is at $100 per kwH. I can get a whole lot of range over coolness of LTO. and, trying to match the nominal voltage of both packs would be a nightmare. so i probably gotta decide o...

EV/LTO Battery Build - LTO, EV, or Combo?

So, guys, as the season approaches while staring at 1 feet of snow and 10F outside, I am planning out my new build. My old bike will probably be sold to a friend at a deep discount. The new build will be a bit novel to me and maybe many others, but I would like to do an used EV/LTO or both build wit...

Re: Motor advice 1500-watt leaf?

I would go with the Cyclone. Not sure why the GNG version is so expensive I see the upgrades. Here are my two key upgrade points with Cyclone: 1, there is a nylon planetary gear set in it if possible upgrade to metal especially for high speeds 30+ and 2, the whole bottom bracket bending... just wedg...

Re: Battery for Ebikling 1200w rear hub

Probably a good idea to refine your requirements a bit more beyond mid range. Tell us the use case for the ebike ie how far are you looking to go, how long, and terrain. As a general scoping, I use the following power thresholds. 350W = 15-16 MPH 500W = 18-20 MPH 750W = 25-27 MPH 1000W = 28-30MPH So...

LiHv is just overcharged lipos. Lol. LunaWolf does 6v of sag on a cold day with a 4p pack at 30 A. Lol. Weak as fffffff....... My use of recycled EV cells have proven to wreak havoc a HK lipo or a WolW pack. Safer too. Been hitting them kinda hard, get 4-6v sag max on a sub 32* day ... at 80v and 1...

Re: Donor bike decision: Electra, Sikk or Micargi?

IMO, i would go the Electra or Micargi over the Sikk due to the big frame design. With the big frame design, you can put a giant battery in there or have room for an eventual giant battery and just fill in empty space with cheap styrofoam. There is also room for a battery on top tube though many her...
