Re: Mid drive build

Is the battery held on by bungee cords? You can buy a 1" board and paint it black or red to match your bike and then attach that to the top tube with hose clamps and then screw your shark battery into that 1" board to clean up that look and secure that battery a bit more. 1" board = $...

Not to belabor this point as interesting as I think it is. But, maybe we go the aero road bike route. Check this out. I actually want to get into cycling too. Near professional rider hits 42mph on 1300W burst. Its impressive the speeds these guys get too and maintain though they do rotate lead biker...

Re: Reputable/reliable 48v batt sellers for BBSHD build

yes double the amps so lower amp draw on each cell. the other thing you should consider is that you can always buy another pack (same cells and config) and parallel the two packs. imo, the cell quality with the LG H2 would be high enough that down the line paralleling two different capacity packs wi...

Re: Reputable/reliable 48v batt sellers for BBSHD build

Yes, bigger is better even if your motor/controller is no where near the max continuous amp draw of the battery pack. that being said, there is also a cost aspect where that extra P or cell quality is too much. dood, just get the LG H2 cells that was rated at 20A each cell. That pack from EM3EV woul...

Re: Reputable/reliable 48v batt sellers for BBSHD build

To me and get others opinion on this, if I had to chose between a battery pack with 100wH more and 25A max continuous discharge versus one with 44A max continuous discharge, I would definitely get the one with 44A max continuous discharge. That 100wH might seem like more range but the 44A max contin...

Re: Reputable/reliable 48v batt sellers for BBSHD build

Many different perspective here but the general rule I "like" to follow is 25-33% of capacity should be your normal power consumption. So, if I want to go 30mph or 1000W, I will need a 3-4 kWh battery of course that is ideal. Getting a battery that big is expensive but some can do it. The ...

Re: Tesla S3X power consumption versus high power electric bike (estimates)... WTF

People vastly overestimate the effect of a vehicle's weight on efficiency. It's ALL about aerodynamics and motor efficiency. Bicycles have trash aerodynamics. Also Tesla Model 3s have some kind of super ultra high-efficiency Switched Reluctance Motors. SRMs are also used extensively in robots, prin...

Re: Tesla S3X power consumption versus high power electric bike (estimates)... WTF

TY for insightful replies. Looks like we need to get more aero and more efficient motors at high speeds and bigger batteries. Obviously, this is in the emoto and high power ebike realm and not the legal ebike.

Re: Tesla S3X power consumption versus high power electric bike (estimates)... WTF

Bikes and e-bikes are excellent for travelling at relatively low speeds using low power input levels. They are not designed for high speeds. There are better designs for that. yeh, i mean okay. its just my vision of green mobility isnt right based on these numbers. my assumption was even an electri...

Re: New user introduction and build Qs v3 205 + cyc x1 pro dual drive bomber frame build

I think you should just start with the CYC X1 Pro. Its a true 3kW kit and should be more than enough for you at 72V. 3kW is no joke especially on a trail and it will give you good balance on trails and speed on road. if you feel that it is not enough then you can try adding a heavy qs v3 205 though ...

Re: Tesla S3X power consumption versus high power electric bike (estimates)... WTF

All I know is that 5kW of power in a Chevy Volt will get you to 17 mph while on either of my ebikes that same 5kW gets me to 50mph. The gauge on my P100D shows a usage gauge that is not digital like the Volt, so I cant see anything below the lowest 20Kw increment to compare. I do know that when run...

found it on interweebs. i was just curious about how EVs do batteries and how they can advertise the range and mileage. i mean if this is right it means their aero must be damn good or something is happening in their motors that is not happening in ours.

Tesla S3X power consumption versus high power electric bike (estimates)... WTF

TLDR, WTF, we need better designed ebikes or more efficient motors. I was just curious as the EV craze is pretty hype at this moment with major automakers adopting into the game. The way the EV YT channels talk and companies talk about performance and how I like to talk about it is a bit different a...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

I don't just randomly buy cheap solar panels from eBay hoping for the best. I look for domestic importers/manufacturers that use eBay as another store front and have a review history online. Mine was at about $1 per watt. The 50-100% performance is due to solar conditions. In optimal conditions, the...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

Too bad recumbent bikes are still a billion dollars. LOL Keep an eye on Craigslist, LetGo, ect. for used recumbents. Most don't have suspension, but I was able to get this Optima Lynx for $280. Swapped out the wheels and got a front suspension fork to work! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/viVsAm-...

Re: Around the world on a solar ebike

I mean the solar panels I got from eBay met the output specifications under ideal conditions - solar noon, no clouds, summer, optimal tilt. The rest of the time it was at like average a bit above 50%. Not sure how the "premium" ones compare under the same conditions. I mean if you are goin...

Re: 36V 500W Gearless Rear Hub ebike - 500wH, 20-30mi, $150-300

Ride video. It is actually more fun to ride this thing than my hybrid because of suspension, lower level of noise, lower wind noise (less speed), and skinnier form so I can actually pedal.

36V 500W Gearless Rear Hub ebike - 500wH, 20-30mi, $150-300

Well, I think my 36V 500W hub motor finally found a home for a friend rather than sitting in the garage rusting. I just went on a 10mi run and it felt good. I actually kinda prefer it to my 72V Cyclone hybrid because it is so narrow that I can actually pedal. It looks a lot nicer too. So, I am givin...

how about checking out ERT? btw, i know you dont want to buy a new motor but looking at this modded CYC X1 Pro by ERT. Re: Pricing - 45mph cruise, 60mph top, 50 mile range (cruise speed)

50 miles at 45 mph is motorcycle or scooter territory not bicycle. For the money spent on the ebike you can have a much better vehicle for that purpose. wait, isnt this the purpose of this forum? to poosh the limits of ebikes to the MAX! that being said, maybe this build is coming closer. my wheel ...
