Re: "Monster Board" High power 4X4 board with ATV tires

I see no need to change ESCs when these work great. Also, not sure why you say the Focbox is better...... The peak amps on that controller is 120. I have pulled over 300 amps from Castle ESCs reliably....... The sprocket size is based on the fact that the board uses a two stage reduction, belt drive...

Re: "Monster Board" High power 4X4 board with ATV tires

I did some testing (just coasting) and found live axles will not work. Differentials are needed. So, I bought some generic differentials. Modifying the trucks to accept the differentials is the next step.

Re: 14kw continuous 94% efficient motor.......

That's pretty much the case.

There were many factors at play;

The company buyout of Astro
High production cost
No suitable controller to run it
Etc

Re: Model 3

Hey Guys, I figured you would be interested in some specific numbers for this purchase. Here is what I ordered and exactly what it cost me; Car options; Long range battery, premium upgrade package, white color, standard wheels, autopilot. Total cost $56,000 Back in 2016 I gave a $1,000 deposit to re...

Re: Model 3

Yup. That would be my concern. Turo is funny though, you can check a person's driving record and other details before hand. Also, the Tesla app allows you to monitor where the car is and how fast it is being driven. That being said, after waiting 2 years for a $60,000 car, I have no intention of let...

Re: Dave's 80:1 RC mid drive kit build log

I can speak from experience, a Motoped is huge and heavy. You would want more power on that chassis.

Any decent downhill bike would be a better choice.

Re: Model 3

Insurance arranged, delivery specialist assigned, financing arranged and approved. Sheesh, this is nearly twice as much as I have ever paid for a car before. It is like buying a Corvette! Thank God my business is paying for this. Of course, as a self employed person, it still is costing ME ultimatel...

Re: New recumbent QUAD build (OEM project)......

There is room inside that box for 2.5 times that much lipo. This pack size was chosen for a number of reason; weight, cost, complexity, range and power requirement, etc.

I may add more cells if I deem it necessary.

Slowly but surely making progress....... I made the battery harness and installed the battery packs. The packs are nestled in foam (high density neoprene) on all sides for safety. All wiring and connectors are multi layered in adhesive lined heat shrink and all sharp edges inside the box have been r...

Re: The BEST and FIRST Qulbix Raptor mid-drive build!

Toothed belts are great for high RPM, low torque applications. Chains work best in low RPM, high torque applications. This is why two stage reductions tend to be belt on the first stage and chain on the second stage. The belt is more efficient and quieter which is perfect for the first stage, while ...

Awesome, very keen to see it. Do you know what wheels you're going to order? Still got quite a long time before I get mine, right hand drive cars are a way down the priority list I'm sure. I ordered before the reveal event even began, so hopefully I'm early on the Australia/NZ list at least! I am g...

Actuality it is miles or expenses. In my case, I write off miles. At 30,000+miles per year, I get quite a deduction.

I am not rich either. Honestly, this purchase is for my business. I do appliance repair. I budget $800 per month for vehicle payment and gas. The Tesla payment will be $780 per month. That just leaves charging cost (insurance too obviously).
