Two thumbs up! I've got the canoe check, the Minnekota check, the Trojan lead acid check...hmmm....

Kerry's the neocon that insists on putting tactical nukes within 10 miles of the Russian border. Or haven't you been following his adventures with Ukrainian neofascists lately?

Re: Start of my second trike build.

As I understand torque arms, your arms in the photo are not correct! The torque arm should be pulling the wheel back against the "opposite and equal reaction", that is it should be pulling in the same direction as the motor. The way you have it, the arm is being compressed toward the frame. The arm ...

Re: Which is better between these 3 folding ebikes?

At least some of these bikes are 6 speed. You may experience inability to pedal meaningfully at full speed, when the motor is engaged. Seven speed will get you to 12tooth freewheel at least, or even 11 with a DNP freewheel. That would be more satisfying from a cycling perspective.

Re: Death & Transfiguration. R.I.P. my little pony.

I wouldn't be so quick to write off the Hooligan. Mine (the Hooligan 8) is an awesome ride, even though the small Cellman 48V 10Ahr Panasonic pack has to go on the rear rack, close to the seatpost as possible. It really doensn't affect the handling materially in my opinion. The Hoolie is super stiff...

Re: bargain basement mid drive recumbent

That's quite a nice geometry that you've cooked up there, perhaps similar to the semi-recumbent Sun EZ Sport, with the exception of the rear suspension which looks nice. Hopefully you are able to tighten it up to relieve the bounciness induced by what appears to be a fairly substantial pack there in...

Surley has some decent steel disk unsuspended forks. I've got one on my Hooligan and it is bog standard for torque arm fitting.

I just knew I wasn't insane when I picked up my Rebike a few years ago, black seven speed, and put in a rear 9C on it. Welcome to the club! Re: Scorpion 26 fs a new build

I'm running rear 9C on both my direct drive Catrike Trail and my Actionbent (Performer) recumbent trikes, and it is a pretty carefree solution, although I did to do one bearing change, and get a pro to do a wheel rebuild. I just use a throttle, no PAs. It took some imagination to get the torque arms...

Re: Where do jst wires go from BMS to Cells?

B1 wire goes to the positive terminal of cell 1. The other side of cell 1 is the negative which goes to the B- on the BMs. The means also that B9 wire is connected to the same screw as the main pack + output wire. Assuming 9S pack and BMS to match.

Re: Have anyone tried using 4S Lipo on a 12V trolling motor?

I'm running my trolling motor fine so far on a 48 to 12V DC DC convertor for golf carts (rated output 12V 30 amps) that I got off Amazon, on my 48V Headway pack. It puts out 12.6V and I haven't had any issues with my Minnekota 40 Endura with maximizer. That might be an option for you, although evide...

Re: BMS Battery High C-Rate pack.

Its just a way of detouring the inrush current around the main contacts, through a resistor or some such solution, to stop burning out the main contacts of the battery connection, as the capacitors in the controller suck the juice from the battery to get all charged up every time the battery is re-c...

Re: Tired of these magnet motor believer.

I think it is a sign of mental illness. About 50% of the street people that take an interest in my electrified trike collar me and yammer on about perpetual motion, zero-point energy etc., with that watery look in their eyes. Such a waste when all they have to do is study how an electric motor works...

Re: BMS Battery High C-Rate pack.

Not such a good buy...the keyswitch is problematic on these cases as the relay it drives is under-specced - 12V 40 amps, with a 48v rated coil. The contacts on the relay can get fused shut from the inrush current, and when they do you have "perma-quiescent drain" of the battery, if you leave the bat...

Why not a simple hub motor? I've got a rear NineContinent from ebikes.ca, on my Actionbent recumbent trike, and I've put over 13,000 quiet happy miles on it with no issues, and can achieve speeds to 30mph with diligent pedalling, if I try.
