Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Exactly. But I don't know any riders other than racers going full on on a breakaway that want to spin at 100 to 120 RPM. So for e-bikers needing to go that high is due to their choice of gearing (but why?) ... or the constraints of the bike... for chainring size and rear gearing cluster... and havin...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

In a given gear combo cadence is indeed indicative of MPH. You need to know your tire diameter and your gears to figure gear inches or use gear ratios to calculate this out. Pick your gear inches for the speed and cadence you want ride. Easy peasy. The built in 28 mph speed limit sets the parameters...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

You missed my last post. I got the correct driver directly from the ST Micro site and that fixed me right up. Solid red light on the programmer when USB plugged in, green when communicating with the TSDZU. Programming took a few seconds. I made up a programming cable following the instructions on Ec...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

My Super Shark 11.5Ah battery from EM3EV came today and mounted easily in my size XL frame. Pic here with the Shark and the EGO 5Ah "range extender". Can also just ride with only one or the other.

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Strider you can use any firmware you want. I went with what the vendor recommended to get this thing up and running and it seems to work just fine. You could always change over to the open source stuff later. I haven't looked into it yet but I assume it provides more tunability and I will probably g...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

These guys have the overdrive versions as a no cost option. That's where I got my kit. Good service and very responsive... just takes them a week or 2 to get the kit out the door supposedly due to the time it takes to queue the orders, program them and package them.... although the programming is re...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

OK, I just flashed my TSDZ2. First I tried to manually change the settings as above and it looked like it worked but it didn't really. The fuel gage indicated my half discharged battery state properly but the motor would not run on fully charged 52V battery which for my EGOs come off the charger at ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Strider, I bought my motor setup for 48V but decided to go 52V after all so I am in the same boat. I am ready to reflash it to make the changes but haven't done it yet. I just made the cable and installed the software. But I have been testing my bike as is with a 52V EGO battery and it works fine. T...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I went to the ST website and got the drivers there and the device seems to be working now. The led is now steady red instead of flashing (which I believe is normal) and Windows reports the device is working properly. I updated the ST device firmware and that operation was successful so I think I am ...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I made up a programming cable following the instructions on Eco Bike site, but I am having difficulty with the ST Link software. The main software tools installed easily but I can't get the drivers to work. My laptop is Win 10 x64. I copied all the windows files over from the link provided and ran U...

Re: Understanding and Using EGO Power+ Batteries

I thought of using a battery charger to tap the battery power. I have an extra small one that came with my leaf blower that I could have sacrificed. And these can be had for about $20 new. But the cases are kind of bulky and they lack the locking tab that the tool battery sockets have. I guess one c...

EGO tool battery socket for 3D print

I just created an EGO battery mount on my 3D printer and installed it on my bike. It accepts the 56V (really 52V) EGO tool batteries. I have a couple of their 5Ah batteries for an underused EGO battery powered snowblower and a 2Ah battery for one of their leaf blower. These should be good for shorte...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Not strictly related to the Tongsheng drive but I made an EGO battery mount and installed it on my bike. It accepts the 56V (really 52V) EGO tool batteries. I have a couple of their 5Ah batteries for an underused EGO battery powered snowblower. These should be good for shorter rides or to carry alon...

Re: Bafang PAS - riding with another person or a group

No I am not unhappy with the TDSZ2, in fact I have yet to ride it outside... just built last week and work/horrible weather has kept it to testing on the trainer. Just looking ahead and trying to understand the riding dynamics of the Bafang PAS. I could see making another build with the BBSHD for ho...

Re: A few Tongsheng TSDZ2 questions

I just did a build with one of these. I can't speak to durability of the blue drive gear yet but if you are concerned these guys will sell you a kit with the metal gear installed for an upcharge. https://www.eco-ebike.com/ I got the standard plastic blue gear in mine but also ordered a metal gear to...

Bafang PAS - riding with another person or a group

Just a quick question for Bafang owners... The way I understand it is that the PAS levels are each set to give a fixed number of watts progressively rising from level 1 through 9. I also understand that you can use fewer levels and program you own power settings. So, how does this work to maintain s...

I am about to get into programming mine, too. I believe this is the cable you need. I just ordered one yesterday, I have everything else. https://www.eco-ebike.com/collections/tsdz2-accessories-parts/products/extension-cable-for-tsdz2-speed-sensor. I first tried the lighting extension cable that cam...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

Question for my fellow TSDZ2 owners... The main motor power wires that come out of the housing seem very small gauge to me, like maybe 16 ga, for 750 max watts and the corresponding amps. I am running 12 ga wire from the battery but not sure of the value in that considering the downstream 16 ga. Are...

Re: New "TSDZ2 Torque Sensor Central Motor"

I just joined the TSDZ2 club having installed one on my old Cannondale F1000 MTB. I haven't had it on the road yet as I am waiting for my ride battery to arrive and waiting for the polar vortex to depart. I have tested it pretty thoroughly indoors on a Kurt Kinetic fluid trainer using an EGO 52V pow...

Re: Your Creation's Before & After Pics

I've been wanting to do this for a few years since I saw the mid drive kits but I just got around to completing my first build. I had an unused 1995 Cannondale F1000 hardtail MTB size XL frame collecting dust so, why not? Motor kit is a Tongsheng TSDZ2 with torque sense and throttle. I don't have a ...

Tongsheng TSDZ2B throttle mode

Still trying to decide what to go with, the Bafang or the Tongsheng for my build. I understand the fundamental differences between the Bafang PAS and Tongsheng torque sensing the latter being more appealing to me. I see that some versions of the Tongsheng have a throttle and the literature I have fo...
