Re: Basman style cruiser with Mac and A123 20ah

Arghhhhh  Fox 40's lying on abrasive cement! Show some respect for the paint/anodizing  Your right it does look rough. I put them down very carefully though. :D I picked them up for $300, bargain!! Hey BEC, great info. I will contact you if I need any more info, cheers. Just got the Ma...

Basman style cruiser with Mac and A123 20ah "FINISHED"

This is my latest build which is still in the parts gathering phase as I haven't built the frame yet. As the title suggests I will be copying the style of a Basman cruiser for this frame, I was lucky enough to be able to trace a genuine Basman frame a few months back. This will be another 8T Mac pow...

Re: A2B Metro - www.ultramotor.com - Video Page4

I've noticed from rear packs for sale that the old were 9.xAh newer ones to 11 and 12Ah IIRC. Physically on surface they looked the same with blue power light, but the amp hour rating sticker different. Hi there Deepfraught, I forgot to mention in my post above that I have a 9.5ah rear pack apart A...

Re: A2B Metro - www.ultramotor.com - Video Page4

I've had a good read of this thread as I have been asked to replace the B battery on the rack of an Australia delivered A2B. It's nice to see a few extra volts is fine for the internal controller as I am planning on using a 12S A1213 20ah pack from Cellman as the rear battery replacement. I would li...

I now have Hope Tech M4's with 203mm discs on my cargo bike front and rear, awesome stopping power! http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=73419 With two children, shopping and me the bike will stop very quickly with smooth modulation. Re: Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

I think my hub motor came with a small black connector for the halls and some weird bullets for the phase wires. Those bullets are cheap automotive one's. It's a very good idea to take them out of the system as they can cause too much resistance, heat and failure. I always use 4mm gold bullets on m...

Re: Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

I haven't wired it up yet. There is no reason why it wouldn't work though, if that concerns you. I just have to work out the correct hall and phase wire combinations.
This controller is quite small, Dimensions: 125 * 65 * 35mm.
I don't think you find one much smaller.

Re: Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

About controllers, what is the best option for this motor? A 6 fet controller will be more than ample for this motor, the gears will strip before you cook a 6 fet. I've purchased a 6 fet infineon and a PAS from Cellman for this motor. I highly recommend Cellman's products and excellent service. htt...

Re: Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

Just take one! If someone experienced with nexus 8's can help, I'll appreciate. I don't know what kind of "small parts", shifter and tensioner to buy and where to buy (shipment is a real problem, live in Brazil with hungry customs). I was thinking to use a small controller with 10s (36) and just 5 ...

Re: Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

No combination of an 8-speed gearhub, decent quality front hub, two double-walled rims and 72 stainless spokes plus expert assembly will reach an individual consumer for $168 without someone having gotten burned in the process. I agree, this is an extremely low price for a wheel set like this. A ma...

Bargain wheel set with nexus 8 speed & hub motor

Last week I noticed a wheel set from a Schwinn Tailwind on Chainreaction Cycles in their recycled section for $168. I couldn't pass this bargain up, so I bought it for an ebike build for the lovely wife, it arrived today and I'm really happy with them. I've scored a nexus 8 speed hub and a small 220...

Re: Belt drive Sprockets on the Cheap!

Here's the link to find AussieJesters cast pulley teeth. He used the HTD-5mm pitch belt as the tooth-mould, and the metal core is a V-belt pulley. He later went another way because he wanted a larger diameter pulley than this largest V-belt unit, but he stated that it worked well when he was using ...
