Re: eggrider compatibility w/ grin controllers?

hm.. know any good references for tektro brake-hose matching? i tried this before with a tektro set and couldn't find right spec hose to match it (hence the rear brake on my bike is a normal mechanical ebrake). i still have the tektro bleed kit so would be interested in trying this out :) Tektro is...

Re: eggrider compatibility w/ grin controllers?

Secondly... Regarding batteries. Can two large em3ev batteries be paired to function as one page battery? Or would it be safer to manually switch to the alternate battery? Yes, as long as you charge them to the exact same voltage before connecting them. Thirdly ... Extra long length hydraulic disc ...

Re: EM3EV 52V Jumbo Shark battery dimensions + adapter

If you are more specific about what you want measured beyond the measurements provided by EM3EV, I can do that. When I bought mine a few months ago, they had a template on their website you could print, cut out, and tape the pages together. I can't find it on my computer or their website, but if you...

Re: EM3EV 52V Jumbo Shark battery dimensions + adapter

They had a template you could print out on their website when I bought mine, but I can't find it now. As for the connector, you can put an XT60 connector on it. That is what I intend to do with mine. Or you can just hardwire the mounting bracket to the controller. It came with some bullet connectors...

Re: eggrider compatibility w/ grin controllers?

The Eggrider works with the KT protocol, so I doubt it would work with a Grin controller. You would need to get a KT controller. Or you could buy a Cycle Analyst display instead. Lots of non-ebikes have displays for speed, distance, cadence, etc. I don't think it would call attention to you.

Re: Hub motor industry dying?

*shrug* This is what i ride. 16" up front, 20" out back. It gets compliments constantly. I even had this crappy folding bike at one point with dual 20" wheels ( i had some fat 20 x 2.3 tires installed ).. it also got compliments constantly. I don't think small wheels are a big deal for anyone other...

Re: Hub motor industry dying?

Also, I agree with neptronics "small wheelstown" take, but I think the bicycle industry is very slow to move to smaller wheels - even though the advantage of small diameter wheels are old news, since they allowed for a temporary hype in the 70s: I love my Brompton, but it would take a huge cultural...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Build

Ah thanks. What will be the total cost, if you don't mind? Good luck with the rest of the build! Keep us informed. North of $4K. I haven't bothered to add up the cost of all the parts. The battery, satiator, and GMAC kit were $2K. I already had bicycle tools, but you may need to factor in the cost ...

Re: Costco Northrock XC00 Fat Bike

Some spacers and a long enough axle would suffice for a 121mm fork dropout. https://www.amazon.com/Action-Front-16X26Tpi-130mm-Retainers/dp/B001CC4DAS/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=Hub+Axle+Kit+front&qid=1565313493&s=gateway&sr=8-6 But the bike has disc brakes and the front brake does most of the work. This is basically the exact build that I was thinking of doing with a GMAC. I wasn't sure if I was gonna start with a frame and buy everything separately or if I should just buy a complete bike. Some bikes I had in mind were: https://www.ribblecycles.co.uk/ribble-adventure-725/ https://www.brodiebi...

Re: Surly Disc Trucker Build

Thanks! I was originally looking at Surlys (I used to have a Long Haul Trucker) but the frames I was interested in don't take suspension forks. But seeing your bike, I am considering looking again at Surlys and other steel frames w/o suspension. How are you liking your bike? Are you happy with your...

Re: Costco Northrock XC00 Fat Bike

The front fork has a dropout of 120mm and the rear if I recall is 150mm. No hubs are available in 120mm, and its not listed anywhere in any list for dropout measurement. According to this post, the rear is 170mm and the front is a non-standard 121mm. So you would have to replace the front fork if y...

If you search for "48v 20ah silver fish battery" on Google, you will find some listed. Personally, I would buy it from the local shop for $480 rather than chance some unknown vendor on Alibaba. At least you have a local business you can take it back to if something goes wrong. If you want to make su...

It's fun to plan ahead for a big move like that. However, the smart thing to do would be to wait until you get there to determine the best way to get around. Every town has it's quirks and the locals will have worked it out long ago.

They do sell fireproof cabinets with external venting just for businesses like yours. It wouldn't make financial sense for the individual bike owner, but it might for you.

Re: Finally! Finished building my 60MPH Ebike!

I don't think it encourages riding as such. What happens is that requiring helmets discourages riding. That seems to be the trend when such laws are passed and enforced and ridership is then measured. I suppose the distinction between the two ways of looking at it is subtle or maybe even non-existe...

Re: Finally! Finished building my 60MPH Ebike!

One argument I have read for not requiring helmets is that it encourages more people to ride bikes. Some people will just get in the car rather than put on a helmet and mess their hair up on their way to work or a social engagement. Wouldn't the wind mess up their hair, too? Re: 26" Wheels on High Power Ebike (8,000w-10,000w)?

I already know the spoke sizes, just looking for a good, strong 26" wheel to purchase. Anyone else out there riding with a similar setup? Don't buy the spokes until you measure the ERD (effective rim diameter) of the rim you are planning to use. Different 26" rims require different spoke lengths wi...
