Re: Peeps, I need help with finalizing a choice for a motor, QS205, anything better?

...You could try different winds of the MXUS in the simulator to get an idea about the trade off between top speed and ability to climb without meltdown... I don't know how many times I need to tell you guys before it will soak in...Winds don't make any difference at all other than to change the co...

Re: Impure copper wiring in stock QS205?

The current handling will vary greatly with which winding of the motor it is, so it's impossible to answer the question without that information.

Re: Peeps, I need help with finalizing a choice for a motor, QS205, anything better?

Get a 3t in a 13" scooter rim, which works out to a 19.25-20" OD wheel depending upon the tire you buy. That or a fast wind 273 if you want to go spokes and a bit larger wheel like a 17". If all your riding is on roads that are in good condition, then the size of the wheel and weight of the motor d...

Re: Votol EM-100 & EM-150 controllers

Can anyone tell that the EM72150SP has motor overheat cutoff function? Does it also have overheat protection for itself? Yes, and you can see in the thread that the controller overheat function has been discussed a lot. Thanks Another question. Is its regen efficient? I ordered a budget greentime c...

Re: Buying Ebike kit, will these batteries work?

lithium batteries don't like the cold either. Sure they do, when stored, not in use. They must be warmed up for charging, hot for high rates is best, and perform better discharging when warm too. But warmth generated internally from the chemical reactions from within, always indicates shortened lif...

Re: Statorade in large direct drive motor ?

I consider no-load current to be the most important spec to look at when trying to determine the quality of a motor, and even when it's not specifically spelled out you can often come up with a pretty good estimate when looking at motor test reports by dividing input power at the max rpm listed (wh...

...are the tolerances from the battery higher than stated due to their series and parallel configuration? If anything the current rating of batteries is overstated. Lower current ratings for cells generally means higher internal resistance, which is the spec that really matters because heating batt...

Re: Pairing controller to new 1kW DD motor

OMG! You did the 36 combo thing again, since you found the 3 forwards.

What's the 4-7A stuff. What does it stabilize at going to full throttle? Somewhere in that range wouldn't surprise me at 600rpm+, especially if rim and tire are mounted already.

Re: Off Road Throttle which one do you prefer?

Regarding losing feeling on fingers on the twisting half, I don't have a clue what you're talking about. With a motorcycle it's the clutch that gives you the precision control. The thing is you have to keep a rather tight grip on the handlebar, at the same time you are constantly changing throttle....

Re: Off Road Throttle which one do you prefer?

The only thing for off road is a full twist on the right side. Try going off road for an hour with a half twist and see what the fingers feel like. Thats right, you would have lost all the feel in the fingers on the throttle. You need a full twist to be able to use all fingers. You need somewhat so...

Re: Bike mechanic starting mobile repair trailer, ebike specific tools worth adding

A 7x12 trailer sounds way to big to pull around with an ebike, which is the way you should go to minimize your cost of transportation. Get yourself a couple of cheap ebike testers (one for backup). Identifying the problem is more than half the battle, and typically you'll have to go through a proces...

Why would hall sensors or controller suddenly be an issue if the bike was running before and all you did was change the battery and mount? While the bike was out of operation did it get knocked over or something so the motor harness got damaged?

Re: Statorade in large direct drive motor ?

My Leaf only cools the inverter not the motor. Think it is only a couple liters. Was thinking that he wanted to stay at high speeds, you drive sorta fast. You don't have an issue with heat? Not at all except with the early QS v1 273 motor that has .5mm stator lams and a crazy high pole count, which...

by John in CR » Oct 16 2020 5:55am While statorade should help cooling, any mods would invalidate your warranty. Re: Off Road Throttle which one do you prefer?

Buy several full twist throttles, and cut off a bit more than half. Then on the empty end part of the handlebar use a nice bicycle grip (that you have to cut to size) that has an allen bolt to tighten an aluminum ring, locking the outer part of the grip in place. The end grips that come with half tw...

Re: What gearbox choices do mid drives have?

A mid-drive kit for an electric bicycle is not sufficient to run something the weight of a 125cc dirtbike. As far as gearboxes go, just get an appropriately sized motor for your vehicle and you'll have no need for multiple gears. That's just for smoke belchers because their torque band is too narrow...
