Nicely done and sounds economical as well.
A great finish for a first project!

Let's all hope she keeps riding it.
The world will be a better place with more women on bikes.

Re: DIY popcorn!

I liked mine popped with lots of corn oil in a huge deep pot and sprinkled with curry powder or cayenne, Masala, "Spike", etc.
Try increasing the humidity of your corn by putting a slice of bread in a bag with it and then take it out and keep it in glass jar to preserve its moisture.

Re: A study in bike theft.

The author is a douche bucket for actively supporting bicycle thieves. He is buying stolen bikes and then poorly locking them so they can be stolen again. Did you miss the part where he was doing this with the support of the police? :) That's pretty well through and through the article with all the...

Any so-called dedicated bike path is best regarded as a mixed use path.
A squealing front brake pads usually gets pedestrians' response quicker than does a bell.

"The typical American male devotes more than 1,600 hours a year to his car. He sits in it while it goes and while it stands idling. He parks it and searches for it. Re: push button throttle

You might try a thumb throttle if your wrist is bothering you because of the twist throttle.
A push button just gives you on/off. A thumb throttle can be regulated.

I once had to make an electric "gurney" for a pace vehicle for this type of racing. Very odd sport! Sounds like gurney but it's called a Derny for its inventor Roger Derny et Fils of the avenue de St Mandé, Paris, France. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/b/bc/Derny.jpg Spot on Zoot - '...

Re: From sketch to Doubl-E Dutch* PhotoS

The frame is beautiful! The rear rack looks like it permits hanging regular panniers too. The inverse brake levers add a nice detail.
The loads and speeds of which the bike is capable would leave me wanting something more assertive than rim brakes.

The Abus Bordo comes with a holster that fits water-bottle bosses.
Mine is mounted to the underside of the down tube. It rattles a little on the rough stuff.

Testors is easy to get but there are better paints available. Humbrol is another brand that's widely distributed. Re: Have a Kona Ute, recommend me a setup?

I said that in response to a previous post by Drunkskunk who mentioned that many people DO switch the Ute to 26" wheels from the factory 700c for better ride/more loadhandling. My Ute DOES have 700c wheels. If I took them off, I would use the wheels on my other roadbike (which has terrible, terribl...

Re: This B*tch be crazy!

The bike path lacks the cracks and uneven slabs of the sidewalk, and it looks like the sidewalk has light poles and sign posts every so far that partly block it. So she's more comfy on the bike lane. Thinking she owns it is crazy though. . . . Give the crazies room and stay out of reach. Avoid star...

Re: Have a Kona Ute, recommend me a setup?

What width 26" tires have people been using? I would be very interested in switching over, to be honest I wasn't sure it was possible. Can the disc brakes be retained? Are you sure your UTE has 26" tires? The Kona website specs Continental CityContact 700C x 47 tires for the 2010 UTE. It's a good t...

There's quite a bit of social exchange between Vancouver and Portland bike freaks.
Once a year they hold a "century" on Mt. Hood. 100 miles downhill on minibikes.
