Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
doesn't the 17" diameter Sur-ron supermoto wheel kit now available from luna include a 42t rear sprocket (and correct length chain) to make the kit bolt right on and maintain the same top speed as the stock 19" diameter dirt bike wheels.. reference: https://evnerds.com/electric-vehicles/e...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
52 and 58t sounds like great choices imo. Would equate to 38 and 34mph before accounting for loaded efficiency increase.
I was really surprised the 48t on 17” wheel didn’t top out at 38mph as the regear would suggest. Due to lower copper loss I would assume.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
You could buy a bac8000 now if you want to tune it yourself. I need brake pads, who’s got em or what’s compatible? Seems one of my rear pads is already hitting the backer. Since I am almost 100% front brake user and my front brake pads are still at 90%, I’m calling shenanigans. The rear caliper is n...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Threw the supermoto rear with 48t sprocket in today. Rollout measures 12% lower but only lost 6% top speed as checked by roadside radar.
Definitely a keeper combo! I wouldn’t mind even more gear reduction.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Can’t wait to hot rod mine :) I’ll probably just wait for a pre tuned ASI controller, but the bms mod looks like cake. Rode my 50cc ruckus all day yesterday and then hopped on the Sur Ron after dark. Both have the same top speed, but only one gives me grins from ear to ear. I have an electric scoote...

Re: Hardware triggers
It’s just a conceptual circuit, but the idea is a closed loop voltage “regulator”. Instead of using a clock to control duty, the clock input is used only for frequency and the comparator for pulse width. End goal, trigger at a given voltage threshold once every clock cycle. Once I hammer out the cir...

Hardware triggers
I've been studying hardware and shall use this thread to hash out some ideas. I would appreciate any guidance on a concept circuit that generates a clock signal from two inputs. This would be nice and easy to do in software, which is why it is bugging me that I can't conceptualize the hardware equiv...

Re: Compact Field Oriented Controller, ASI + Grin, limited run
Glad to see this is still pushing along. How has it been working with ASI so far? My main OEM in the hobby world just changed their terms and margins, making it a very poor partnership. I hope this doesn't turn out similar with ASI going direct to market after you put in so much effort for them.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
The green is anodized. Green is the hardest color of all IMo. Too much and it quickly turns dark, so a lighter green such as this bike will be on the “thin” looking side of anodizing. It’s still a proper coat, mine hasn’t scratched at all.

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
new to the forum, just got the light bee couple weeks ago and the weather has not been cooperative but took it out to day and noticed the limp mode ( no more than 25 mph in sport mode) when the state of charge is 40%. Does anyone have this issue. Mine did this once when I was riding in freezing wea...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Super moto wheels came in! Nipples are 4.6mm across the flats instead of 4mm like the stock ones. The stock wheels have about 1/3 of the nips rounded off from the factory, these look much better. Build quality is what we can expect from a Chinese wheel builder. Tension is ok, but varied. A few spoke...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
no more than "30mph on flat ground", no more than 3hp. I've been considering how to implement a mode of throttle that would limit speed near 30mph on flat, but still let it rev out on downhills and not bog down going uphills. What would you do about it being more than 3 horsepower? 6KW = ...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
I've been thinking of making a super short stoke pedal setup for the bike that is still ridiculous to pedal but are strong and meet the "it's got pedals" criteria. I fully agree. With the gearing between front and rear, there is plenty of leverage to be able to pedal it in honesty with sh...

Lightning does strike twice.... I like johnrobholmes have unpacked my new sur ron only to find my battery completely dead. Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Loving the bike. Good range testing today, over 30 miles goosing it on the street, still hitting 40mph and 20% left on the little soc screen. Luna has also gone beyond what is necessary for ensuring im satisfied. I have no qualms about my perchase and Luna will be getting more of my business in the ...

Astro got bought out and it put a damper on this project. Best I understand, the new owners are rather unwilling to do "custom" work and also increased prices dramatically on Matt.

rides stable compared to a hub motor eh?
I pretty much had the same impression on the quality / price. A bit wow'd by the frame and rear suspension geometry quality.

Justin already has designed a motor that is QR compatible, up to 20mm axles. It takes a larger bearing and different side covers to have room for it all. I had the pleasure of machining the axles for the prototype run, so I got quite familiar with the entire assembly. http://www.ebikes.ca/shop/elect...

Re: Sur-Ron - New Mid drive Bike
Those look really nice!
Question for folks who have ridden both forks, is the RST noticeably flexier? Luna has offered to exchange my Fast Ace for the RST since it has the seal issue. I really like the feel of a solid fork though, and don't care about losing some bike weight.
