Coming Soon A123 Hymotion Modules for ES and ALL

You might be interested in some of the Hymotion modules that Hank Sybesma has and will be making available very soon, along with test results for each module they sell. Hey deVries, why don't you start a new thread showing off the ones you got? I promise I will very soon. :) EDIT: And, now , here i...

Re: [rant] If A123 cells are so great....

Be careful. I got a 30 day ban for saying they were stolen. Thanks for the heads-up. :D I rephrased accordingly... First off, all these cells were obtained perhaps without official sales approval and/or let's say improperly possibly "out the back door" sales, so who knows really anything about the ...

Re: [rant] If A123 cells are so great....

If they are true A123 cells and they are at 17ah something is already wrong ? First off, all these cells were obtained perhaps without official sales approval and/or let's say improperly possibly "out the back door" sales, so who knows really anything about the true grade/quality of these cells. GEDC0172.JPG And Mega wraped In the tri. and one on the rear rack for two 12s for 24s 20ah or 17ah A123 cells. working just fine I don't understand the use of the term mega wrap. What is mega wrap ? 999zip999 pics show nothing about any provisions to apply equal psi pressure, recommended near 10psi...

Re: [rant] If A123 cells are so great....

It is easier to make custom shaped packs to custom fit on the bike with 26650 cells. Excellent point, and I agree 100%. The main thing to consider that is in extreme favor of using these cylindrical cells is these are already designed with the proper "psi rating" within the round shape and layering...

No one has had these 20Ah cells for much more than about a year including you! Since when did you get these 20Ah A123 cells in your hands to touch? Thanks for proving my point about your spreading disinformation.  The 20ah a123 pouches were introduced on endless sphere in 2009, and here is that 200...

Re: RC smoke filter

If you like to barbecue or just cook outside, then put that cooker in your garage. Buy one with a chimney which you could rig for a slip on tin pipe for venting outside the garage when you store or charge the LiPo. Simply put on a slow low cfm fan when charging or storing. Use a smoke alarm to alert...

I have nothing against anyone building A123 20Ah batteries outside of A123 company specifications. Each person has their own risk asse...

Re: RC smoke filter

For now I charge outside in the barbecue, but I plan to charge in the fireplace w/smoke alarm relay triggered to start a fan poised high in the chimney to suck all the fumes straight out the chimney. I will test this periodically to make sure it works, and I will use 2 smoke alarms for redundancy. ...

Tested conjecture is experience. Experience refines the design. Experience trumps pure analytically studies. One of the main purposes of the ES forum is to share one's experience AND ideas to further everyone's learning. I can and do learn from other people's experience posted about these cells on ...

You have to have built a battery pack to have a clue about building a battery pack. You have to have built an ebike to have a clue about building an ebike. You have not not built an ebike, a battery pack, handled the pouches, or seen the cells In Person, so you are an "armchair engineer" with no un...

How Much $ is Your Public Charge Station???

In Austin it's either $25 per 6 months unlimited charging -or- $2 per hour per charge. 7.2KW Output @220v per hour (or considerably less output at 120v). What does it cost in your city for public access charge stations? Your output is? Austin will have 3-5 direct DC charge stations with 3 phase at 4...

Nice... My final design ended up with only an 8 pin Attiny and a bypass cap. Talk about a simple arduino... not even an external crystal! The entire circuit is only: Attiny85 Bypass cap 5V regulator Input cap for that Battery clip Couple of mosfets Couple of JST connectors Simple simple - love it. ...

Increase your elevation into the resort areas and avoid the bloodsucking gnats totally and the LDS focus of SLC.

Also, consider Boise, ID.

I did get to try the XU, and it's way better than I figured a practical commuter would ever be. However, I found the brakes to be really spongy, not sure if this is representative of most of the bikes, but if I really had to pick out something that I would want to upgrade it would be the front brak...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

Hi, thank you for an inspiring forum thread! :) I`m thinking of making a battery pack for my 12v 55 lb el-motor on my boat. The boat motor is recommended with a 100ah deep cycle battery. I`m not shure about this but I`ve read that an efficient trolling motor produces 1 lb of trust per amp. If my el...

Re: A123 20AHr Pouch Cell Battery Build & Info Thread

I need to pull 300A peaks for up to 30sec. Dare I try it with 1p of my AMP20's or should I use 10-15p of my old M1's so I can spread it over plenty of connections? If you don't have your A123 20Ah cells under the proper pressure range evenly distributed according to specs, then it's better to go wi...

Re: Doc's ULTIMATE TORQUE ARMS fit most of the frame UPDATE

I did a lot of various revision over the last years and it is impossible to make a low cost T-A set that can take all variance in dimensions of axels.. Most of them are from China and tolerance often is +/-0.2mm !! and what people ask me is to make the to fit all their various axel. This was debate...
