Re: Homemade Battery Packs

TIME STUDY... Could you guys that are building packs do a time study too that will give us an indication of the time commitment to sort, test, and screen cells for assembly. ONLY that phase of the building your battery is sooooo time consuming, so it would be great to be able to know approximately h...

Re: Homemade Battery Packs

I went a little crazy buying cells, and have about 6,000 used laptop cells here to charge/test :-o got a psu and loads of cell holders, so I can charge 100 at a time :o Are you sane?  Wow, if you survive w/o burning down first, then you have already achieved a lot. Re: Doc's ULTIMATE TORQUE ARMS fit most of the frame UPDATE

I couldn't find any mention whether these TA work well with the MAC motors that cell_man and others sell.

Anyone try these with MAC motors or knows the answer?

The spec shows 9.8mm +/- 0.1

Thanks. :)

unless your looking to blow over 500 bucks on a tester the cellogs and a shunt+ load resistor are as good as it gets.and what many are using on here.. i calibrated the cellogs with a fluke tester and it's pretty spot on... why waste tons of money on equipment you dont even need. docbass uses a cba ...

Re: cba

I think the cell-log is a very low budget solution, when you really ought to get equipment designed to test and not just monitor like cheap cell-logs. The cell-log data logger is great for on-road data logging, but I wouldn't use it for serious lab testing or experiments to replicate and verify accu...

if someone could build a pack and run it at ebike loads such as running 1 to 100 amps and try to find the spot where puffing starts that would help.   At current prices of $70/cell maybe A123 labs can do it for us, but they already won't share the data for the automotive research. so can we get away with putting the pressure plates in and just shrink wrapping the packs like the rc lipo packs are done? No, unless it can give at least 5psi applied equally over the large flat surface area of the cells. W9BK just posted, see above, that more PSI above 5psi is better IF it is rea...

Re: A123 20AHr Pouch Cell Battery Build & Info Thread

So just to sum up the active area that needs compression is 297^2cm. Applying 15psi pressure means 1.05kg per 1^cm or 313kg on the whole surface of the cell. So using Interlink 400 series FSR sensor should give us output of 1+kOhms. It would be hard to stack 313kg on top of such small are, what abo...

Why would you ask before thinking for a second? 1. Bullet connectors are widely used on ebikes 2. Whats better conductivity, aluminum and brass using threads or copper + copper using solder? 3. Bit more tidy To answer your question it is simply because I want to know your reasons. You call it an up...

I will add some info later to easily upgrade your rev. 1 kits with better battery poles including bullet connectors, some copper, cutting, drilling, soldering involved.
What would be the reason(s) to do this upgrade?

Thanks. :)

Thats why i chose glass fiber resin reinforced board, working temp of 250C, doesn't flex too much compared to thermoplastics (i suppose A123 end plates are injection molded). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FR-4 There you go if you missed: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-88bEmebAG0I/UgI0c2kRGnI/AAA...
