Re: How repair heating element wire?

I have found repairing things is so much better then replacing the parts. A lot of times the part is hard to find or not available, if you do get the replacement part, sometimes it's not even like the stock part and you end up modifying it, to get it to work. Then there is the problem with them send...

Re: E-Bike shuts down shortly after being under power.

Thanks guys. Yeah, I would usually unplug the charger as soon as I saw that the charging light had turned green. I just assumed the charger new what was best for the battery pack. Leaving my battery pack charging for several days did a good job of recovering the low cell(s). The charging light did n...

Re: Leave charger plugged and connected or not.

What about if the bike is not going to be rode for several weeks, or a month or two. I heard that storing a lithium battery at half charge is good for longevity. Leaving my battery pack charging for several days did a good job of recovering the low cell(s). The charging light did not cycle between r...

Leave charger plugged and connected or not.

Whats the best way to charge a Lithium battery pack with a BMS. 1) Charge it till the charger says it's done and disconnect it. 2) Charge it till the charger says it's done and leave it connected. 3) Charge it till the charger says it's done and only leave it connected indefinitely, only occasionall...

Re: E-Bike shuts down shortly after being under power.

At 3.6 volts, that comes out to 43.2 volts for the entire pack. The charger says 36 volts on it and that is the charger that was supplied with the battery pack. I will measure the output of the charger to see what it goes to under charging conditions.

Re: E-Bike shuts down shortly after being under power.

Cool, I will put the pack on charge for a few days and see what I see. These are the big cylindrical cells, like 1.25"X4.75"s. The voltages were, using my digital volt meter: 1) 3.3 2) 6.6 3) 10 4) 13.3 5) 16.6 6) 20.0 7) 23.3 8) 26.6 9) 30.0 10) 33.3 11) 36.6 12) 39.8 This voltage was measured at t...

E-Bike shuts down shortly after being under power.

I have a 36VDC brushed motor, Lithium battery with BMS and 36VDC controller. This bike is not stock. I installed the controller and battery pack. The combination has worked great for probably a year now. Just recently the bike started shutting down when applying power. At first it would happen rando...

Re: What's the REAL Way to Promote the Electric Bike Culture

There needs to be a repeat of what made mopeds popular back in the late 1970's. Gas stations without gas, odd/even days and relativity high priced gas. Plus, less restrictions, like when mopeds first arrived on the scene. No helmet, 30 MPH and 2 HP. A electric bike nowadays is not much better then a...

So if SpaceX is more expensive then why are they getting any contracts? Would it not make more sense to just let NASA do all the launching, I mean NASA must have it down by now. Heck, if Russia is cheaper, just send the business there way.

Are bike racks a bad idea?

I was just talking about a bike getting stolen in another thread. What just occurred to me was the idea that bike racks could be a bad place to lock up your bike. My idea is, if a thief is looking to steal a bike, where do they go looking. Where the bikes are, right. Heck, at a bike rack full of bik...

Re: Another stolen bike.

I always figured that most of these thieves have limited tools. I mean, any tool they have of value would be sold for cash, cigarettes, booze or drugs. No low life is going to have a set of Snap-On tools or even a decent set of tools at their disposal. Old beat up crappy bolt cutters will not cut a ...

Another stolen bike.

Luckily, it wasn't me. I went to the convention center the other day to see the Auto Show. Took my E-bike and brought two locks along. When ever I go down town or I'm going to be away from my bike for more then a couple of minutes, I always double lock it. I must of had a premonition that their was ...

Re: I did a gun-control petition

Guns are made to kill or dissuade, that's their purpose. The more you have the more death you'll have period! Doc That's a pretty political narrow view. People collect guns, they use them for target practice, as a investment, as a hobby... Probably 99.999% of guns bought were never bought to kill p...

Re: I did a gun-control petition

I bet all the criminals would like all the guns to be gone. I mean how are the weaker among us going to protect themselves. A gun is a "big" equalizer. How are women going to protect themselves, how will old people protect themselves... Guns are used constantly in self-defense. Even you gun haters a...

They speculate that we are sitting on 100 years of supply, so maybe by then they will have come up with alternative energy solutions that are cheaper. Funny on how things work. Here is another interesting observation about coming into all this cheap abundant energy from fracking. Seems the USofA's carbon emissions have plummeted to 1991 levels. Mostly do to coal burning plants switching to natural gas as a energy source. Coal used to produce almost 50% of the electricity t...
